DARIUS POV

I leaned against the doorframe of my office, my gaze fixed on the trees outside.

A knock at my door pulled my focus away. "Enter," I called out.

The door opened and Silver Wisp—I still didn't know her name—entered.

She was a mess—covered in dirt and grime from her relentless training—but there was an undeniable beauty in her determination.

Her gray eyes, sharp and defiant, reflected a spirit that intrigued me more than I cared to admit.

She stood with her arms crossed and we held eye contact.

To be honest, I didn't have a good reason for calling her to my office.

I had been watching her train for days. Lucian had been doing the same. He reported that she wasn't as skilled as I thought, that I had underestimated her that day in the battlefield.

But I doubted that. She was skilled. I knew that.

I pushed myself away from the frame and stepped closer, my presence casting a s

Mia had been listening to the conversation silently, lost in her head, but when Dalian said he was going to see Nyx, she immediately perked up. "No," she said, very inaudibly—so soft, it was barely a breath, but Dalian heard. Her hand, which had been resting on her lap, unconsciously tightened into a fist. She didn't trust Nyx around Dalian. Not after everything. There was a raw, protective instinct that flared within her—an unspoken conviction that Nyx still harbored a lot for him.Dalian felt her subtle disagreement—the unspoken fear she held about him volunteering to meet Nyx. He wished he could reassure her fully, but he knew she had seen and heard enough to discourage her distrust of Nyx.He simply reached over and squeezed her arm—a silent plea for her understanding. It had to be him. Darius didn’t seem to hear Mia’s quiet protest. He studied Dalian carefully before speaking. He gave a sharp nod, making his decision."Alright. You two will approach Nyx. But be careful. Don’t m

Mia squirmed playfully, though her body was already responding, but she had other things in mind."Dalian, we can't stay like this all day, and you know that. Besides, I just remembered something..."Her voice paused, a sudden flicker of memory about the missing serpent scale. He groaned softly, his lips finding hers—a slow, searching kiss that slowly deepened, drawing her in. It was slow and tender, unlike the desperate urgency of the night before."Later, Wildstar. Let's just stay like this," he whispered, his voice hoarse, his gaze devouring her. "Whatever it is can wait. I just need you to be in my arms for a little longer."His hands began to roam her skin, pulling her closer, his hips nudging suggestively against hers.Mia gasped—a soft, breathless sound. The warmth, the intoxicating pleasure, threatened to drown out her fleeting thought. But the memory of the missing scale snapped her back."No, really, sleepyhead. I've got to check something out, and you've got to get up from

Mia and Ravenna moved through the crowd, leaving the noise of the feasting hall behind as they entered the quiet corridors near the personal lounge. Mia’s mind raced with questions about the statue. She so much hoped Bianca could explain it. The worry about the missing serpent scale faded and was now replaced by a deeper fear for the pack’s safety. They reached Bianca’s door. Ravenna raised a hand to knock, but before her knuckles could connect, the door swung inward silently.Bianca stood in the doorway, her usual bright eyes calm and perceptive, as if she had anticipated their arrival. She gestured them inside."Mia. Ravenna. I sensed your approach. Come in. I sense you have questions." Her voice was soft and melodic. They stepped into Bianca’s chambers, a space filled with the comforting aroma of dried herbs. The shelves were filled with books, big and small in volume."Bianca, we need your help," Ravenna began, her usual composed personality giving way to urgency. "We've seen som

"We really have to act fast," Ravenna confirmed, her voice now really serious.Darius looked at each of them, stopping on Dalian, then Mia. "We can’t go at him again unless we have a solid proof," he said, his voice sharp. "We gave our word. That we were only trying to confirm something, and that is what we just did. But now, like I said earlier, we will find out what that thing is." His eyes got hard, filled with determination, and Mia knew right then that Darius wasn't going to let this go. "After the feast, we meet. All of us."With that, he nodded once and walked away, back to the feast hall like nothing happened. But they all knew that the matters at stake weren't ones to be toyed with. Because it could jeopardize the entire existence of the pack. Maybe.Dalian turned to Mia, softly squeezed her hand, and even though he didn’t say much, she felt the promise in that look. He leaned in and whispered, "I need to go with Lucian. We have to figure this out somehow." Mia could tell he

Darius led the way, his steps sharp and steady, so much tension locked in every line of his frame. Behind him, Dalian, Mia, Lucian, and Ravenna followed in silence. The distant strains of music and laughter could still be heard faintly through the halls, an echo of the unity feast behind them.As they moved deeper into the guest wing, the noise faded. The air turned colder and heavier, pressing in around them. Dalian's wolf stirred, restlessly pacing just beneath his skin. The scent of something wrong lingered in the corridors—it was faint, but it was persistent. Mia's hand, which he held softly, tightened around his. He could feel her pulse racing against his palm. They stopped before the door to Alpha Roric’s assigned quarters—just another solid wooden slab like the rest. There were no guards there, no signs of heightened security in the quarter at all. That alone sent Dalian’s instincts flaring. He couldn't fathom the reason why someone with such aura would be in that place and it

Darius got up from his chair. “We need to go. Now.”But Ravenna reached out and placed a hand on his arm, softly and steadily enough to make him stop. Her eyes met his in a calm but serious gaze.“Wait,” she said quietly. “Not like this. Not without permission.”Darius’s eyebrows pulled together. “Permission? Ravenna, we just saw two of their men dragging some kind of heavy, magical thing into their private rooms. It could be a threat to our pack, to everyone here. We don’t have time for… diplomacy.”“Which is exactly why we need to be smart,” Ravenna replied, voice steady but firm. “If we storm in, it makes us the aggressors. Roric could accuse us of breaking trust. And as guests? Or, in a worse scenario, he could turn it into a reason for war.”She looked around at Dalian and Mia, then back at Darius. “We will approach him first. Respectfully. Then ask about what we saw. Then we will raise concern, not accusation. That keeps us in control, no matter what he says.”Dalian’s wolf hate
