DARIUS POV

"When are Alpha Hale's agents coming?" I asked, my eyes fixed on the laptop but my mind was far away.

"Five days from today," Lucian answered.

"I see," I said, nothing seeing anything at all.

Five days from today I will have a new ally, my plan will take shape and I will succeed. Why then do I feel so empty thinking about that?

I knew the answer as clear as the back of my hand. Ravenna. That was the only answer.

I wanted to become a better man for her, to do better. And what I was about to do was the exact opposite of a better man. She might say she doesn't hate me but if I carry on with this plan she will. Maybe even hate me more than she did before.

I didn't want that. I had managed to gain her trust. How that had happened will remain a mystery till my last days.

So I didn't want to lose that trust, I didn't want to carry out with this plan that wasn't mine.

Lucian cleared his throat and I looked up at him staring at me. I raised an eyebrow when he didn't say anyt

RAVENNA POV Anticipation and excitement had me smiling as Mia and I packed. For over three weeks that I've been brought here I haven't left the pack house—except to the woods, but that doesn't count. And now I was finally able to see the territory! And all thanks to Mia. We were talking about the beautiful places we've visited, but since I haven't traveled much and neither has Mia, we mostly shared stories about our packs. I told her about the two packs I’ve been to, and she began describing hers. She spoke of how the water was so clear you could almost see the bottom, how the trees bore the sweetest fruits, how the grass was lush and green, and how the breeze was always light and refreshing. And that was when I knew I wanted to explore this land that has been my prison for close to a month.I haven't thought Darius would agree so easily. I was ready to give him hell if he hadn't.And the way he had looked at me… like I was his favorite snack and he wanted to devour me, it still

RAVENNA POV I sat in the passenger seat, gazing out the window as the landscape shifted around us. The road stretched ahead, winding through dense woods, the kind that seemed to stretch endlessly, thick with trees and the scent of earth and pine. Mia, focused on the road, hummed softly to the music playing in the background. The hum of the tires on the asphalt was calming, the rhythmic sound blending with the soft murmur of the car’s engine. We passed the edge of the forest, and the trees began to thin out, revealing a quaint town nestled in the valley below. The buildings were charming—old stone cottages with ivy climbing the walls, colorful flower boxes hanging from window sills, and cobblestone streets that curved around like a maze. Why does every house in this place look old? It was as if the territory was built in the old era.It felt like something out of a dream, so picturesque and peaceful, it seemed untouched by time—nah, that was a lie. Time touched everywhere. Mia slow

REVANNA POV I most definitely gave a fuck. Hiking was not as easy as Mia said it would be, or perhaps it is because Mia seems to be doing just fine. My breath came in ragged bursts, my legs screaming as I pushed forward, my boots crunching against the rocky trail. I glanced at Mia ahead of me, who moved with a grace that made it look effortless—it most definitely was not. Mia paused briefly, waiting for me to catch up."You good?" Mia asked, her voice light, but with a glint of concern in her eyes.I wiped sweat from my brow and gave a half-hearted smile. "Who me? I'm doing just fine." I took a deep breath. "I didn't realize hiking meant I was going to need a second lung."Mia chuckled, adjusting the strap of her backpack. "It gets easier once you get used to it. The view at the top makes it all worth it.""I’m starting to think you’ve been lying to me this whole time." I shot her a mock glare. "Do you have a plan to kill me, Mia? This plan is most effective, I should tell you."

RAVENNA POV We walked back to where we had packed the car, me walking slowly, scared that the pain might just come back. But it didn't. We continued our climb down and I picked up pace but still no pain came."I'm still trying to wrap my head around what just happened," Mia said, now walking beside me. "You're human. No offense," she quickly added with a strained smile.I shook my head. "None taken.""A normal human would have taken weeks, even a month to heal that," she continued. "Even a wolf wouldn't have been able to heal that quickly." I hummed and kept walking, my mind faraway. Strange things have been happening to me since that full moon. First that day Darius and I had our second fight and the sudden burst of energy had surged through me and I had almost dislocated his shoulder. That wasn't normal. Then that fight we had when we were training with the pack, I had also felt that energy. And then the one that has left me baffled till this day was that day when the rogue wol

DARIUS POV If I continue to tap this particular spot on my desk I might tap a hole into it. But I couldn't bring myself to stop. I glance at the clock again for the hundredth time in an hour and it was already noon. Where the hell were they? Had Mia betrayed the pack and helped Ravenna escaped? No, she wouldn't do that. I have known Mia right since she was just a pup. She loved her pack, despite them not returning that sentiment, despite what her father did. So she wouldn't betray me like that. But what if Ravenna had overpowered Mia and slipped past the border? Mia was strong but Ravenna was stronger. My foot joined in the tapping, and I glance at the clock again. "For fuck sake, Darius, calm the fuck down!" Lucian snapped, his hands thrown up in frustration. I leveled a flat look on him. "Lucian?""What?""Leave me the fuck alone."He got up immediately. "I thought you'd never ask." I resumed my tapping once he was out the door. My wolf has been restless during this longest

RAVENNA POV Yes. I felt everything, from how wild and hard my heart was beating, to how heated my body was, to how warmth was pooling in between my legs.I fucking felt it all. I looked back into Darius’ eyes and there was a vulnerability that shouldn't be there. "Yes, Darius," I whispered, my voice barely audible. "Yes, I feel it."The vulnerability cleared from his eyes only to be replaced by something I couldn't name. He leaned forward and kissed the tip of my nose softly, before he pulled away and my body immediately missed his warmth. He rubbed his face before he turned, his back facing me, his shoulders tense. I heard him inhaled before he turned to me again, his features composed but only just a little. "There's something I need to tell you," he said, his voice hard. "Fuck, there's a lot of things I need to tell you."I watched him curiously. I keep seeing a new part of Darius everyday but I wasn't complaining. It was fresh to know those talks I've heard of him being compl

DARIUS POV Ravenna has been silent for too long. I resisted the urge to put my shirt back on and just stood there. Let her see what a lovely man my father was. Eventually I heard her move. She took a few steps forward and stopped, before she took another step and then she was standing behind me, just a few feets away from my mutilated flesh. I clenched my fist to stop them from shaking as she just stood there and observed. Lucian was the only one that has seen me like this. All my lovers over the years have never. When I fucked, I fucked from the back. That way they couldn't claw at my back. And sometimes I stay fully naked. Showing my back to Ravenna was like baring my soul to her. "Your father did this to you?" Ravenna whispered, her voice small. My anger had left me, leaving me empty. "He did." I inhaled deeply when I felt her finger tracing my back. "Ravenna." Her name was a warning, a plea, a call. I wasn't sure. "God," she choked out. I could hear the tears in her voice

RAVENNA POV Today has been one hell of a day. It had began with an emotionally love confession—that I'm currently trying not to think about—to revealing of plans to rule the wolf world, to judging, to another emotional series. Now, I was drained. Darius and I sat on the floor, our backs resting on his desk, my head on his shoulder and our fingers interlocked. He must also feel drained because he hadn't said anything for ten minutes, or was it an hour? Who knew. "Will you tell me about it?" I asked, not knowing what I wanted to hear. Everything. "Where would I start from?" he asked, more to himself than to me. But I answered regardless. "Anywhere." He didn't say anything for a while. "My mother was a lovely woman," he began, his voice calm. "She always had a smile on her face, always looking out for others more than she did herself. She was loved by the pack, dea

Darius waited until Dalian’s breath evened out, until he knew Dalian could hear him—and not just the noises in his head. “You think you're the only one who’s ever doubted yourself?” he said, his voice calm, even. “You're not.” Dalian’s jaw clenched, but he remained silent, unmoving. Darius continued, steady and controlled. “You’re not broken because you're lost sometimes. You're not weak because you hurt. You're not lesser because you haven't figured it all out. I figured myself out when Ravenna came, and I'm still on that journey. I still hurt sometimes and I feel, but that doesn't make me any less of a man. No, it makes me strong. Being able to feel and hurt is not a weak thing, Dalian. Those emotions are what make us. Shape us.”Dalian’s chest hitched, and his lungs burned so hard that he didn't want to breathe. He had always thought that being weak made him lesser. He hasn't figured himself out; he didn't know what he wanted, who he wanted to be, and every day of his damn life,

Dalian turned to see Darius standing a small distance away from him, his hands in his pockets, staring at him with his eyes hard. Right now he wasn't Darius, his sister’s mate and husband, he was his alpha. Dalian straightened automatically as he regarded Darius, his face blank and his walls back up, but it was hard to appear blank when his whole body was trembling. Darius stared at him in silence, his own expression unreadable, but at least he appeared calm and not the way Dalian was. Then he turned and gestured for Dalian to follow him with a tilt of his head. “My training room,” he said as he walked without looking back to see if Dalian followed. He didn't need to, because Dalian was already following behind him. Darius wasn't from their pack, but he was still their alpha. Plus, his mother was Lupinarian, so that made him half-blooded, so he was one of them. They walked to his training room and people parted for him like the Red Sea, not even looking at his face once. That was

Mia’s heart skipped a beat and she didn't know why. Maybe it was the way Dalian was looking at her—his eyebrows set in determination, his eyes burning with the intensity of an emotion she couldn't decipher. “I'm listening, Dalian,” she whispered, looking up at him, forgetting all about her shyness or why she was even shy. He looked down at her, his eyes searching. For what? She didn't know, but it seemed she was about to find out. He released a breath, cupping one side of her face and caressing her cheek with his thumb as he said, “I want you, Mia. More… more than just sexual. I know this thing between us was just supposed to be lust and pleasure. And now I'm about to make it complicated but I can't help myself.”His thumb moved to her lips and caressed her bottom lip, his touch sending a shiver through her. She pressed a hand to his chest, where she could feel his heart racing. Where she could hear it racing. And it was… racing for her. “I want you more than just sexually, Mia,” D

Dalian entered Mia slowly, wanting to feel everything—how her wet heat gripped and enveloped him. It was torture. Such a sweet torture and he didn't want it to end, but eventually, he was already deep inside her, his dick throbbing and pulsing, urging him to move. But he stayed that way for a while, trying to let her adjust. They had just fucked barely three hours ago, and it had been hard. So she might be sore. Mia buried her nose in Dalian’s neck, inhaling that spicy scent that always made her weak in the knees. She was so grateful he was giving her time to adjust because she was sore. But… but it felt so damn good—the pain combined with pleasure. She moved her hips slightly, the movement almost impossible to do in this position, but she still managed to do it and they both moaned. “Mia,” Dalian croaked, forcing the words out, his voice sounding strained. “I'm trying to give you time, Wildstar.”“I don't want it,” she panted, moving her hips again. Dalian groaned, gripping her

Mia moaned into Dalian’s mouth, fisting his shirt and dragging him close to her. She had been shocked by the kiss, but it wasn't unwelcome. They needed to talk—have a serious conversation, but… later. It could wait. He deepened the kiss, slipping his tongue inside her mouth and curling it with hers. He backed her up against the wall, grinding his hard dick on her and they both moaned, shuddering with want. But they both froze when they heard moans coming from the room they just left. He broke the kiss, pulling back as his nose wrinkled in disgust. “Hey, don't judge,” Mia said, scoffing as she hit his arm playfully. “We’re not saints ourselves.”He smiled, holding her hand and leading her away. “Yeah, we're not. But there’s just something about hearing my sister…”He didn't complete the words, his nose wrinkling again. Mia laughed softly and Dalian looked down at her with soft eyes. Then suddenly, he tugged her inside a small room that seemed like a closet and closed the door, pres

They talked about the plan and what it entails. About the marriage and how the pack was going to take it. They concluded that if they didn't take it well and didn't agree to it, then the plan wouldn't continue. They would think of something else that would get them allies. “That's enough for today,” Ravenna said, standing up and the others followed. “We’ll discuss this with the pack tomorrow and after that, we’ll know the next course of action and what we’re going to do next.”The room nodded. Darius held out his hand and Ravenna took it. He drew her into his chest, wrapping his arms around her waist as he whispered, “You okay, baby?”Ravenna sighed, resting her head on his chest. “Honestly? No. I'm scared, Darius. Mia was right; inviting our enemies into our territory might not be a good idea. It… Something could happen.”“Hey, I was just saying,” Mia rushed to say. “And that was before I heard your plan. We’re going to work with protections and warding. Nothing could go wrong with

The room was silent, even the twins who were usually noisy knew better than to disrupt this silence. Mia looked down at her feet; Lucian stared out the window; Dalian at the wall. Then, “That's a good idea,” Dalian said, looking back at Darius and Ravenna, who had been tense. They both released breaths at the same time. “I honestly wanted to talk about it with both of them, but I didn't know the best way to approach it. It's a lovely idea.”Ravenna smiled at him. “Thank you, Dalian.”“I don't—” Mia cleared her throat and all eyes turned to her. “I don't want to be the negative one here, but… but how do you go about this peace? What do we propose? And inviting our enemies into our territory? That is a problem.”Darius nodded. “We know that, Mia. But nothing is ever easy. We’re willing to do anything if it means securing peace for our future and our children.” He looked over at Juniper and Jasper who were making shapes with their fingers and giggling. “And how are we going to propose

Dalian was quiet after the shower, when they got dressed and went downstairs. And he looked lost in his head, distant. Mia didn't know what to do or say, so she just held his hand even when the pack looked at them. She didn't care. And she even held him tighter when she saw some of the girls eying her with jealousy. She felt smug. Because she knew they wanted him, but she was the only one he had eyes on.“In your faces,” those were the ones she wanted so badly to say to them, but she stayed silent, though her eyes said it all. They were about to go get something to eat when they came across Lucian. He looked down at their hands before he looked back at them as he said, “Alpha and Luna want to see the both of you.”“Is everything okay?” Dalian asked, the first words he had spoken for a while, his eyebrows pinched in worry. Lucian just waved at him and he walked past them. “Everything’s fine, relax. You wouldn't be scolded for fucking.”“Idiot,” Mia scoffed as they followed Lucian.

They stayed like that for long minutes, wrapped in each other, breathing in each other’s scent, and saying nothing, just content with each other. Then Dalian shifted, kissing her cheeks as he whispered, “You’re dangerous, Mia.”She smiled, eyes closed. “And you’re danger.”He chuckled, low and soft, the sound rumbling against her lips as he continued to kiss her. Her scent was thick in the air, wrapping around him like a spell, and he wanted to breathe it in until it filled every dark corner within him. She smelled like lilies in bloom—fresh, delicate, and subtly sweet—and like the earth after the first rainfall, rich and grounding. It was a scent he hadn’t known he craved until now, and it was all her. Addictive. Enchanting.Every breath he took only pulled him deeper under, until he wasn’t sure where she ended and he began. She was sweetness and strength, softness and storm, and everything about her called to something primal in him—and it wasn't his wolf. No, it was something else
