Her fingers drummed against the wheel pensively, she twisted around checking the street again but there was no sign of him. Aurora puffed out a breath and buried a shaky hand into her hair.
After she'd made the call to Ryan, he'd asked her to meet him at the 'Butcher's Place'. It was a strange name and the place was even stranger, the street was patrolled by dodgy-looking people and she had to roll up her windows completely, thanking the stars for the first time that they were tinted.
She checked the time on her wristwatch and sighed again. Calvin would be calling her anytime soon. Doubt began to creep into her mind, maybe this was a sign that she needed to stay away from him,
Now that her head was not so foggy with emotions, she could think straight.
Aurora still didn't know how Evan got his information on her but her biggest bet was that the creep was spying on her. The thought sent a shudder down her spine,
She had to get out of here, and fast. She sat up straight and slipped the key into the ignition, twisting as the engine came to life. She made to drive when a knock on the window startled her,
Aurora froze, eyeing the person behind the screen skeptically. It was Ryan and he was trying to peer through the window. She sighed, debating if she should open the door or not,
He rapped a knuckle against the glass again and a defeated breath slipped past her lips. She tipped forward, and unlocked the door, pushing it open slightly,
She watched as he jumped into the car, and closed the door as he sat. His strong scent invaded her senses almost instantly and something shifted in her belly.
"Hey," He shifted to face her. She noticed he wasn't wearing the clothes he had on earlier, instead replacing them with a black T-shirt and leather jacket with matching pants, there was also a baseball cap placed backwards on his head.
He looked so painfully handsome at that moment, she felt an intense urge to jump on him.
"Hi," She muttered, looking away from him to stare at the road. She could still feel his piercing eyes burning into the side of her face, "I-uh, I booked us a room at the hotel."
He didn't say anything for a while and her gaze flickered in his direction, "Did you hear me?"
There was a glazed look in his eyes, she frowned, reaching out to touch him when he quickly shook his head.
"And I'm guessing you booked it under your name?" She nodded slowly and he scoffed, shaking his head again, "That's stupid. What do you think will happen if someone sees us together, you wouldn't want to ruin your pristine reputation." The cold sarcasm in his tone showed that he wasn't the least bit concerned about her so-called reputation.
She looked away again, squeezing her fingers around the wheels, "Where else should we go then? The hotel was my best idea." Frustration was bubbling in her chest and she was thrown back to the bathroom stall again. Aurora could never forget the loud moans or the grunts or the look on Matt's face as he pounded into Louisa.
Tears burned in the corner of her eyes. Her heart felt as though someone was squeezing the life out of it. She suddenly found it difficult to breathe,
"Hey, Hey, Hey," She felt Ryan's hand come around her shoulder, his other hand gently grabbed her face, turning it so that their eyes met.
His brows crinkled when he saw the dismayed look on her face and he swallowed tightly, "What's wrong?"
Aurora was quiet. She always was, it was starting to become a coping mechanism for her. Remain quiet when faced with an issue, she believed if she stayed silent then the whole thing would be solved by itself. She called it the 'pretending a problem isn't there until it disappears' thesis.
"Aurora!" He pinched her chin slightly and she winced at the pain, her blurry gaze focusing on his face.
Dark orbs stared back at her. Light pink lips moved, saying words that she couldn't hear. Ryan was perfect, he would be the perfect distraction she needed.
She wanted to forget about everything. About her oppressive mother. Her cheating father. Her manipulative brother and most of all, the boy who she'd been in love with her entire life.
She wanted to forget, even if it was for a moment, everything and everyone. And Ryan was the perfect person for the job.
So she pressed forward, wrapping her soft fingers around the back of his neck and claiming his lips. He stiffened underneath her hold and for a split second, she feared she might have overstepped,
But then Ryan made a sound and parted his lips beneath hers. He kisses me roughly. Completely unyielding. His hands are wrapped around my small neck, pressing down tenderly on my racing pulse.
She moaned softly into his mouth and he cursed. His next movements were agile and quick. He unstrapped the buckle of her seatbelt and lifted her from where she sat. Aurora made a noise when he forcefully slammed her back on his lap.
His lips left her mouth to press open-mouthed kisses on her neck and she shivered helplessly, fingers clutching his shoulder for support.
"Ryan!" She mewled, rubbing her throbbing flesh against his thigh. It was a good thing she decided to wear a skirt,
He made an animalistic sound, fingers digging into her waist to stop her, "If you continue like that then I'm going to take you inside this car and trust me it won't be pretty."
She was panting heavily, hooded eyes locked on his. "I want you," She said in a pleading tone, running her hands all over his chest, "I want you inside me."
Ryan growled again, capturing her lips with his own. There was a fervent passion as they kissed, their lips locked in an intimate dance. When he slipped his tongue into her mouth, she gratefully accepted him,
Aurora slowly twisted, grinding her core against his lap. She was soaking wet now, evidence of her arousal was seeping into his jeans but she didn't care. Not when she was desperately chasing her high,
"No!" Ryan yelled, pulling her away from him. She pressed forward but he held her still, shaking his head in disapproval, "If we're going to do this then we'll do it my way. Agreed?"She hastily bobbed her head and he smirked. "Now get the fuck down from my legs and drive."
She obeyed instantly and Aurora knew then that she would have done anything for him if he commanded.
They went back to his apartment. His dingy rundown apartment on the outskirts of the city. Normally Aurora would put her foot down and disagree but not when he was looking like her like that.Like he wanted to fuck her senseless. And oh, how much she wanted that. They hadn't even made it up the flight of the stairs and they were all over each other. He had carried her in his arms, her legs wrapped tightly around his waist. They kissed. And kissed. And kissed until she couldn't breathe. When he unlocked the door and pushed it open, the smell of weed hit her nose and it scrunched instinctively."Sorry about that," He said but she knew he wasn't sorry at all.Ryan pushed her off of him and her ass hit the couch first. She peeked at him through heavy-lidded eyes and he licked his lips slowly, eyeing her like a predator would to a prey,"I want you to strip for me, flower." She frowned, "What?"Ryan arched a brow, folding his thick arms around his chest, "Did I stutter? I said I want yo
The sound of soft classical music filled the air, the dance instructor was moving from barre to barre, inspecting them with stern eyes,"...now reverse. rise and test your balance," His voice echoed loudly, and they followed his instructions, "Open to first, Repeat with a second and finish off with a four-count side bend, right, left. And a nice full rond de corps." She let her eyes flutter close, allowing her body to take control of the steps, dancing ballet was the only thing she was grateful to her mother for. It was like she was another person entirely when she danced, in that moment, her body was no longer hers. It moved and flowed with the emotions evoked by the music being played. She didn't feel like a caged bird anymore. She was free to spread her wings and fly."No, no, no. You're getting it wrong, Louisa. Drop the hip." Her eyes flew open as the music stopped, flitting in the direction of the instructor. He had a disapproving look on his face as he glared down at the
"Matt?" He embraced her before she could say another word. Her entire frame stiffened underneath his touch, eyes wide in shock. When he pulled back, he had a soft smile on his face,"Hey, I'm glad I caught you." He extended the bouquet towards her and she looked between him and the flowers, "I heard your favourite was lilies." Her nose scrunched instinctively but she accepted the flowers, pretending to smile. The truth was, she hated flowers, especially lilies. She'd never known why but that was how it'd always been, a natural distaste for them. But nobody knew that,Nobody except her mother. And her mother had always told her that beautiful women were supposed to like flowers, so she made her lie and pretend like she liked flowers."Thank you." She said softly, balancing the heavy bouquet in her hands. She didn't miss the way his eyes kept flickering to Louisa or the way her cheeks pinkened at the attention.A flare of jealousy shot into her heart and she slid sideways, blocking hi
"No, that color is too bright. Next one!" The costume designer nodded, moving towards the clothing rack to select another dress. Her mother leaned forward, brushing the hairs on her eyebrow gently,"I'm not satisfied with the makeup." Aurora blew out a breath. The woman was never satisfied with anything. This was the third time tonight that she was doing her makeup, her mother either had a problem with the contour or the shade of foundation used. Aurora was exhausted, at the rate they were going, she was bound to fall asleep at the gala."You look older and the lipstick is too bold, I think we should-""Decide on the clothes you want me to wear so that they can match my makeup?" She cut in hastily, trying hard to contain the anger bubbling inside her chat. Her mother froze mid-speech, jaw hanging slack. "That's actually a good idea."She breathed out as her mother disappeared behind the curtains, giving her the quiet time she longed for. Aurora sank into the chair, resting the nape
They remained like that for a while, their lips touching but not moving. His arms came around her waist and tugged her closer,"How did you get here?" She pushed back so she could see his face clearly. He dropped his hand from her face, his plump lips curled into a smirk. She eyed his outfit with a skeptical look, he wasn't dressed for the occasion instead donning black ripped jeans and sneakers paired with a polo shirt and leather jacket, she wondered how he was permitted to get in. "I snuck in, through the fence." She thought he was being serious until she noticed the glint in his eyes, "I came to see you." Her brows rose to her forehead and a small squeal left her lips as his arms went around her and tugged again, "Why?" "I missed you." He buried his face into her neck, peppering light kisses on her sink. She sighed softly, tilting her head to give him better access, "It's been days." His fingers dug into her waist, nails piercing through the light material of her gown. "Ryan,"
"Go on then," Aunty Clara said tightly, "Explain." Aurora licked her lips nervously, her fingers fiddling with the crystals on her clutch purse. Her heart pounded so hard, she could feel it in her ears."Explain yourself, Aurora!" She snapped, taking one step forward, "Explain why you decided to get yourself drunk and hid in here!"Wait, what? She blinked, taken aback by her aunt's words, "What?"Aunty Clara sighed loudly, rushing towards her. Her silver dress sparkled under the moonlight and her fingers wrapped around Aurora's arm, it elicited a sharp gasp from her,"Your mother is livid. Your father has men looking everywhere for you and frankly, nobody is happy with your disappearance."To say that she was confounded would be an understatement. She was totally astounded, her mouth opened and close a couple of times but no words came out. Aunty Clara sighed again, her hand falling on Aurora's wrist instead,"We have to go now before an Amber alert is announced." She moved quickly,
Aurora stayed frozen in place, watching how her mother walked forward, pointing a shaky finger at Evan and then at her father."What is he doing here?" It was obvious that the woman was trying to rein in her temper, "Why is he in my HOME!?" Her father placed a hand on her shoulder and she flinched slightly, "Miriam, calm down and listen to me." Aurora stepped away from him and he turned to look at her but she looked away. Her eyes fell on her brother instead, he still stood there, smirking at all of them. "Listen to you!?" Her mother whipped around to face him, "You want me to listen to you? Okay, I'm listening. Tell me what this-this," She gestured to Evan with disdain, "Thing is doing here."Evan scoffed, shaking his head although there was amusement in his features, the dark kind. Aurora looked at her father too, she was also interested in what he had to say. He nervously rubbed his hands together, giving each of them a small smile, "Evan here is going to be staying with us for
The sound of forks and knives scraping against the china was the only sound accompanying the silence of the dining room. To say that this was an awkward breakfast would be an understatement of the century."Here, eat this," Her mother passed the bowl containing chopped cucumbers, mushrooms and carrots.Aurora mumbled a thank you and begrudgingly accepted the mini bowl, pouring a little of the content on her salad. Her mother smiled tightly, before returning to her meal. Aurora longingly stared at the items on the table, there were plates of sandwiches, pancakes with syrup dribbling from them, a large jar of Apple juice, some bacon and a large sugar cream pie sitting in the centre of it all. She looked back at her miserable leafy greens and a lump knotted in her throat. Aurora sighed as she poked around the vegetables, the urge to eat suddenly gone. "So honey, Maria Claire invited both of us to the golf course later this evening." Her mother piped up, staring fixedly at her father.
Evan slurped noisily from the smoothie cup in his hold, the young mother sitting her her two kids in the table adjacent his kept throwing him dirty glances but he didn't pay her any attention. His focus primarily on the trio walking along the sidewalk, there were about to cross the road and he just knew that they were coming here. After all, this was their usual spot, every Saturday they always assembled here and ordered the same thing.Just as he predicted, seconds later, the three friends bursted through the front door and stealing the attention of most people who were either mid-bite or swallow. Evan watched with hawk eyed focus as the three of them sauntered to the counter, making gestures with their hands as they placed their order. His gaze was fixed on the girl in their middle, the one who seemed much more quiet, allowing her friends to do the talking."Sorry, did you order for a cheese hamburger?" His attention was momentarily stolen by the smiling waitress who held a plate of
Ryan killed the engine of the motorcycle and pulled off the helmet from his head, raking his fingers through the curly strands of his hair. He always hated having to wear the goddamn helmet but the precinct officers were getting serious about road regulation rules so he always had his helmet plus an extra. His long legs crossed the entryway, walking casually into the dimly lit building. A merry tone slipped into his mind and he began whistling, he knocked the usual way on the door and it was pulled open for him to enter."Hey, man," Nate, the large bouncer who usually stood at the gate greeted with a gruff nod and stretched his hand.Ryan accepted it for a shake, patting his back in response. "Rossi has been waiting for you," Nate told him as they both walked through the dark hallway. Since they were already used to the passage, it wasn't hard to find their way past.Ryan grunted in a sign that showed that he had heard, "How mad is he?"From this point, he could hear the loud bass an
Ryan could list off his head a thousand and one reasons why he shouldn't be here just before a fight but he would ignore them anyway. He knew Theo would blow his shit if the big guy found him sitting her but Ryan honestly couldn't help it.Today was a shifty day fof him and he needed some booze to calm his system. He downed the entire glass in one gulp and poured himself another shot. As he swiveled the whiskey around in the ice, Ryan took the opportunity to really look at the bar. It wasn't his usually setting, the place was too bright and it looked expensive as well, obviously for the hotshots but he didn't have any choice. It was the only place close to the ring and if he chose to drive to his usual spot, he was likely to miss the fight which would give Theo even more reason to bash his face in.Ryan looked towards the left, catching the eye of a busty brunette smiling his way. She was surrounded by two other girls and they looked like they were discussing something, although her
She placed the foiled turkey into the oven and closed it shut before proceeding to pull off the mittens covering her arm. Aurora took long strides towards the counter, taking another long look at the recipe book sitting on the counter. It was pure luck that she was able to get Rosa's cook book just before the older woman left for her hometown in Spain. Aurora was leafing through the Christmas recipes on the book and she sighted this particular dish and of course, come gingerbread. Christmas wasn't complete without one.She went on with mixing the batter whilst putting the necessary ingredients. The noise from the living room and overwhelming and she cast a dubious glance at the doorway.Would Ryan be okay with the kids? He wasn't really the best of a role model for the children and most of the times, he joined in on their shenanigans rather than stopping them."Hey, babe!"Speaking of the devil. Aurora smiled warmly at him, giggling when he wrapped his arms around her waist and presse
|FIVE YEARS LATER|"Thanks."She dropped down from the cabby, pulling her shades to the top of her head. The driver came down and helped pull out her luggages, dragging them towards where she stood. She gave him a grateful smile and he tipped his head in response. She watched the house in front of her with a nostalgic smile before moving to wrap her fingers around the luggage handle. Her steps were slow, the clicking of her booted heels resounding against the pavement. Finally, she got to the front door. She took in a sharp inhale before rapping her knuckles against the glass frame. No response came and she knocked again, hearing a high-pitched 'I'm coming' echo from inside.Aurora took a step back and waiting, listening to the rustling on the other side. She blinked and the door pulled open, revealing a disheveled Rosa. "Diós mio!" Rosa gasped, wide-eyed and mouth parted in astonishment, "Aurora!" She squealed in excitement, pulling her into her arms and squeezing her tightly. Auro
"Have you taken everything?"She pushed the suitcase out the door and kicked it close with her booted foot. Aurora blew out the stray strand of hair that had escaped from her messy bun and was now dangling in front of her face. Her father took one of the heavier bags from her hand and she rested the other smaller one on top the suitcase before leaning against it,"Yeah but I packed light, I didn't want to exceed the airport's luggage limit," She answered, pushing away from the suitcase and strolling after her father.Harry scoffed but it was more of an amused one, "This is you packing light?"She threw him a look and chuckled as they meandered downstairs, there was a clanging noise coming from the kitchen area and she cocked a brown"Rosa has been at it since early this morning, claims you need to have good food when you leave," Harry shrugged, "I told her not to bother, the airplane gives good service meals but she wouldn't have it."Aurora laughed softly, nodding her head, "Tell he
Dinner ended after the entire fiasco but she was stunned to see her father laughing proudly, even Matt seemed more livelier than when he first arrived. They walked out of the restaurant together and waited out front for the valets to bring in their respective cars."I wish we could have more nights like this," Matt confessed, a relaxed expression shining in his eyes. He wrapped his arms around Louisa, pulling her closer into him.Her father nodded in agreement, "Me too."Louisa stalked forward, taking her palms and smiling, "I know you're leaving tomorrow and I might not get the chance to see you off but I wish you all the best," She wrapped her arm around Aurora in a comforting hug and she reciprocated the gesture.Matt hugged her after that, reminding her that she would always have a place in their hearts and bade her goodbye too.Their cars soon came and they waited for each one of them to go in and drive off, waving them goodnight."Don't stay out long!" Her father had yelled much
"How do I look?" Aurora peeped over her shoulder at him, fluffing her hair one last time before swiveling to completely face. She smiled, sauntering towards where he nervously stood and reached up to arrange the bow tie around his collar,"I think you look splendid," He cocked his head to the side and she chuckled, "What?" Ryan shook his head, the curls bouncing with the effect, "Nothing, it's just that I wasn't quite looking for that word. What's splendid supposed to mean?"She knew he was joking with her because a devious smile had begun crawling up his lips. Aurora smacked his chest and rolled her eyes, moving to grab her purse from the counter,"Let's go now or else we'll be late."Ryan breathed out but nodded and linked his fingers with hers as they walked out the door. The night's air was quite chilly, she was grateful that she'd decided to wear the cashmere overcoat like Rosa advised."Why do you think your dad wants dinner with me?" He asked as they slipped into the car with
Aurora walked hand in arm with her father, the weather was fairly gloomy with the sun glowing dimly from between the clouds. She was thankful that it wasn't going to rain today, or at least that was what the forecaster announced earlier this morning. The wedding was a open event, set up in one of the finest gardens she'd ever seen."I think it's going to rain," Natasha muttered from beside her, frowning at the darkening clouds.Mason hissed, jabbing his arm into her side, "Don't jinx it." Aurora smiled at their banter, shaking her head softly. After the entire rollercoaster, she'd signed off from the school to the dismay of the Chancellor. Louisa has gotten the role, thank goodness, and she was in the process of preparing for the main competition which was weeks away."Don't fret," Her father told them warmly as they settled on the last row of chairs, "It's not going to rain, my feet always tingles whenever it's about to and so far, I haven't felt anything."They both gave his open m
