Tristan's POV “Why did you give her such a punishment?” Travis questioned and I covered my ears with both hands. I removed my hands from my ears, “There is nothing wrong with what I did.” “You know so many people want to kill you and you are going to allow that Innocent girl to eat from your food before you?” Travis's anger was valid but I wanted what I wanted. “I'm sure you are well aware that she didn't know about the fact that you are allergic to garlic,” Travis defended Aurora and it made me boil. “Everyone said they told her about it, but she still gave it to me; that speaks a lot,” Travis has just known Aurora for 24 hours, and he keeps defending her like he had known her for a long time. “Who is everyone? Ava? The staff? I don't think you know Ava controls the staff, it's time you give such Powers to your wife,” Travis said again in favor of Aurora. “Why do you hate Ava so much? You literally grew up with her, you know her more than Aurora,” I tried my best not to yell.
Aurora's POV I smiled when he got the color right, I watched Tristan give his speech to the council. I wondered what exactly happened. “Come with me,” Indigo dragged me by the hand out of the ballroom and Elena, who was next to me, followed behind me. I pushed her away from me when we got outside, “What is wrong with you?!” I asked even though I knew she wouldn't understand. “Why didn't you say something?” Indigo crossed her hands across her chest, and I furrowed my eyebrows at her stupid question. “Why didn't you say Tristan wasn't color blind? Why did you allow us to make a fool of ourselves?!!” Indigo yelled as she glared at me. “Why would I tell you anything about my husband? You only humiliated yourself and please don't come near me and my family,” I said, and Elena said to Indigo. Indigo scoffed, “Do you want to see a magic trick?” She gave a half smile and I knew this wouldn't be good, “I will live in this house soon.” “What?” I looked at her in confusion as to what she
Aurora's POV I froze when I saw the look on Scott's face; something wasn't right; I could feel it in my soul. “What? What? What was going on?” I asked but Scott didn't answer because he didn't see what I did. “What news has arrived?” Tristan asked for me and my eyes were fixed on Scott for any reaction. My legs became weak and I fell to the floor when I saw tears drop from Scott's eyes to his hand. Just then, I was sure it wasn't good news. What unpleasant news must have come? I pray it won't break me. “Master Saint and Master Justin have passed away,” My world shattered when I heard those words. I guess my prayers won't be answered now. “How did it happen?” Elena asked behind Scott, “They were fine just a moment ago.” “They had consumed poison at the reception,” Scott announced and I shut my eyes tight. How? What poison? “Get the carriages and horses ready, we shall visit my in-laws tonight,” Tristan declared and walked out of the room. Tears refused to drop out of my eyes
Aurora's POV “Hmmm?” Both tears of happiness and sadness rolled down my eyes. I was happy I finally spoke but sad that Father never got to hear me speak. He wanted to hear his daughter's voice. “I….I…. spoke…” I cried and hugged Elena. “You lost your voice when you lost your Mother and gained it back when you lost your father,” Elena hugged me tight, “Say something.” “El…Ele…Elena,” I smiled and Elena giggled excitedly. My voice felt foreign to me. The last time I heard my voice, I was a child, but now it was different. Elena stood up, “I should inform everyone,” I hurriedly held her hand and shook my head. “No, we shouldn't yet; someone had tried to kill me on purpose with that poison. Father and Justin had taken that in my place,” I gave Elena's hand a light squeeze, “I want to find the murderer before anyone finds out, can you help me do that?” I will destroy that person who made my Father and brother lie like that on the floor. Losing my husband, Alpha Elijah, didn't make m
Aurora's POV I stood up from the floor when I heard Ava's voice, I just needed to see who she was talking to. Anger surged through my blood when I saw she was talking to my stepmother. What nonsense is this? What kind of conversation was that? “I don't really know,” Mother wiped her tears as more tears flooded her eyes. “Indigo needs someone to be by her side right now, and my family can offer that support right now,” Ava held her stepmother's hand as she spoke sweetly. “What madness is that?” I questioned and Elena immediately told them what I said. “Why are you being heartless? I just want your sister to spend some time with us, especially now that she lost her father and brother,” Ava said with a calm voice. I shook my head, “Indigo won't stay in my home; she will never step her feet Into my house,” I said angrily, and Elena conveyed my message. “You are just a daughter in law while I'm a daughter, so I believe you know who has more right in that house?” Ava said slyly, mak
Tristan's POV Seeing Aurora in that situation hurt; I could understand her as I had lost someone before, and I hope she copes better. I felt extremely hurt for her when the news got to us. “I need you to secretly investigate who had poisoned the drink at the wedding reception,” I said to Travis and he nodded his head. “Do you think it's someone from this household that wanted Aurora dead?” Travis asked a question that I didn't have an answer to. “That's impossible; no one from this house is capable of killing, and it has never happened; just do well to find out what happened that…” I paused when someone opened my room door. “What gives you the right to enter my room without knocking!!!” I yelled without looking back to see who had entered my room. The only person who could enter my room without any announcement was standing right in front of me. “What gives you the right to make everyone wear a mourning dress in this house?!!” My mother yelled. I turned to see her with the ladie
Aurora's POV“She was trained to be an assassin,” I said the moment I entered my room.“Who?” Elena inquired. I sighed and sat on the bed.“Ava, Ava was trained to be an assassin; that's the only reason why she openly challenged me,” I fist my hair in my hand. I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs, but I couldn't.“I wondered what would make a mere Lady to challenge the Luna, the queen consort, this all makes sense now,” Elena nodded her head as she spoke, she snapped her finger right in front of my face, “Does she plan to kill you at the duel tonight?”My jaw dropped in confusion, “What do you mean the duel tonight?Elena blinked her eyes, “Weren't you aware? Ava had placed the duel tonight, that's a few hours from now.”Why did she place the duel tonight? Everyone knew how exhausted I would be today; what was her motive?Elena held my hand and gave it a light squeeze, bringing my attention to her, “Do you think Ava knows something about Father and Justin's death? Is there a reas
Aurora's POV I heard two metals clash against each other, and I didn't feel the impact of the sword, or maybe I was in the afterlife. I slowly opened my eyes to see Tristan standing next to me, his sword shielding me from Ava's sword. In a swift moment, Tristan pushed Ava with his sword and her sword fell to the ground, “Ava, That's enough.” “It's a duel Tristan and there are rules!!” Ava yelled and Travis helped me up on my feet. “My Lady!!” Elena ran to hug me with tears in her eyes. “I can see that but do expect me to sit and watch you kill my wife?!” Tristan yelled, and everyone stood to their feet. The word wife seemed foreign, he didn't treat me like one. “Rules are rules Lycan,” Ava gritted. “I make the rules!! I'm the rules!! I can change the rules anytime, Ava, and right now, I'm changing the rules,” Tristan threw his sword on the floor, “I declare you the winner, and that's it; there is no need to kill your opponent.” Ava glared at me; if eyes could kill, I
Aurora's POV I tried to open my eyes, but all I felt was immense pain; my eyelids were heavy as hell, and the more I tried to open, the more headache I felt. My body ached so much that I couldn't dare to move. It felt like I was locked in a small box that I couldn't move. Wait, am I dead? Is that why I can't move? “Call the physician, Aurora is struggling to open her eyes,” I sighed mentally when I heard Tristan's voice. It means I'm still living. I managed to open my eyes after so much struggling and the first person I saw was Tristan sitting by my side and looking worried. “Oh, thank goodness, my lady is awake,” Elena cried out loud; I wanted to move so I could give her a hug, but I felt a sharp pain in my back, so I just relaxed back on the bed. “Aurora, are you okay?” I was surprised that Tristan would ask such a question. I didn't have an answer for a man who allowed his mistress to try to kill me. The physician came, he sat me up on the bed and did some check up, “I wi
Tristan's POV “Wow,” Mother clapped her hands as she approached the field, “Look who decided to come home.” “Mother,” I greeted. Mother gave me a tight hug,” I'm glad that you are safe, do you know how worried I was about you?” Mother pulled away from the hug and her eyes fell on something behind me, “Who is she?” I turned to get a better understanding of what she was talking about, “She?” I pointed at who I assumed she was talking about and she nodded her head, “That's the woman who tried to kill Aurora.” “You found Aurora?” I nodded my head to my mother's question, “My dream has been short-lived.” “I know you don't like the fact that I'm married to her, but you shouldn't wish ill on her; she is still my wife,” I defended. “How … did she say how she got Aurora ?” I glanced at Ava when she questioned. For some reason, Ava looked stressed and lost. “I don't know anything, let's find out,” I signaled for them to stop whipping her. “Spare me, Lycan please spare me,” The young l
Ava's POV Ever since I was adopted into this family, I have always desired one thing and it was to become queen one day. I have dreamt of standing by Tristan's side as his wife, Luna, and Queen; I was promised so much by everyone. It was going to be given to me but that damn woman went ahead to snatch everything away from me. “My Lady, please keep still,” I paused when one of the maids who was taking off my dress spoke. I raised my hand and slapped her across the cheek, “How dare you talk to me in that tone?” “I'm sorry, my Lady, I was just trying to take off your dress,” I was stunned to speak; how dare she? “Leave immediately,” the head maid said, “My Lady, I'm sorry she is new, I will get someone else to do it.” “Don't worry about that. I will help her,” Indigo, a Godsent in my life, said, and I smiled at her. I couldn't keep still as Indigo removed my dress; I kept wondering why Tristan would find her; I couldn't even send a letter, and why did Tristan even go and find h
Tristan's POV “What….. what…. What…. Does that mean?” I asked when I couldn't understand the eye contact between the woman and the physician. “Lycan, please calm down,” Travis said to me but I shook my head. “Do something, my wife is bleeding!!” I yelled at the top of my lungs. “Take him outside,” The physician instructed and Travis dragged me outside. “You all should return to your place of work,” One of the soldiers instructed and they all left the front of the physician's house. “Tristan, Tristan,” Travis called, and I looked at him, “I need you to be strong; nothing is going to happen to her.” I shook my head, “Did you hear what they said, she doesn't have a pulse.” “You know very well that doesn't mean anything,” Travis tried to make the situation better but I wasn't having it. I placed my hand on my head, “You don't get it; my curse has followed her because she married me; she is in danger now; I shouldn't have married her.” “I have seen the woman who stabbed her in th
Tristan's POV I sat on the floor as my brain was all over the place, I had searched everywhere but nothing, no single sign of her anywhere. I was scared, what if something had happened to her? What if Indigo had done something to her? The more these thoughts crossed my mind, the more scared I became. “It's noon and nothing, I think we should stop already,” One soldier complained to Travis. “We have searched far and wide but nothing; if someone had really taken her, then shouldn't we check the lakes?” Another soldier suggested and it made my blood boil. They wouldn't dare say this to me but they would say it to Travis because he was also a soldier. “Have you gone mad?!!” Travis yelled before I could interfere, “The queen is missing and this is all you can think of.” I have never seen Travis worried about a woman this way, did he really care about Aurora that much? Were they friends? How did the friendship even grow? I walked closer to them, “Search around this area; if
Aurora's POV “Father, please help me,” Those were the words that I had been murmuring for a long time; they had turned into my favorite words. I don't know how long I have been here, I can't even tell if it's day or night. I wasn't given any food, the only water that passes through my throat is the water poured on me to wake me up. I only know when the day changes because Ava comes here with different clothes. “It's time for your injection,” The nurse said and I looked at her weakly. That's how my life has been: injection and the electric chair, and when Ava comes, she always hits me and uses a knife or something sharp on me. “Why… are… you…. Doing… this?” I managed to ask Ava, despite the pain I was in. I hid my hand very well under the chain, so Ava wouldn't notice; I had managed to lose my hand free, but I was waiting for the right to use it. “Me?” Ava smiled and I looked at her with anger. How can she smile over something like this? “You hit Tristan with a vase, and I sa
Tristan's POV “Aren't you worried about Aurora?” Travis said as we both prepared for our sword training. We were already trained but sometimes we like training more, especially late at night when everyone is sleeping. “Don't you dare mention that name in the palace ever again,” I warned, “She and her servants left on their own accord, it's been four days, if they wanted to return they would have but they aren't here so it would only mean they are happy where they are.” “Was I the only one who found it weird that Ava found the letter first and no one, not a single soul saw the queen consort leave this palace on the night of the ball?” Travis has been saying this word since the day Aurora left the place. I was angry when Ava took the nurse to Aurora's room the next day after the ball, and she wasn't there; we only found her letter. In the letter, she asked us not to bother looking for her as she had gone far away and would never return. “Why are you blaming Ava again? I had escorte
Aurora's POV I paced around the room, thinking of what to do, when I saw my door burst open, “Who do you think you are to come into the Queen's…” Elena questioned but paused. I went to check why she had paused; Ava, Indigo, the nurse, and some other strange men were standing right in front of the door. Why were they here? Who are those men? “She is the one who is mentally unstable; you can take her,” my eyes widened, and I began to shake my head aggressively in disagreement. “That's a lie; the queen is perfectly fine, and are you following her orders over the Queen's order?” Elena stood in my front shielding me. I wished she could really shield me from them. “This isn't Lady Ava's order, this is the Queen's order,” I wasn't even surprised, “Bring her,” the nurse ordered the men she came with. I knew someone from the family would give the order. “Is the Lycan king aware of this madness?” Elena questioned. At this point, I could already see my life before my eyes. “The Lycan kin
Tristan's POV I seriously don't know what Aurora was thinking; she was trying to harm me, and now she harmed Ava; what if she had harmed herself in the process? She should have thrown that vase. Mother and Grandma will definitely make sure she doesn't go unpunished, and Mother doesn't even like her. “Are you going to watch Lady Ava give Lady Aurora such a punishment? Today is her first official ball as Queen, Luna, and your wife,” my head was all over the place, so I didn't care about what Travis was saying at the moment, “Mental asylum?” “Travis not now, please,” I was trying to think. This shouldn't be happening right now but it was. “What she said was it the truth?” I lifted my gaze to meet Travis's gaze; I raised my eyebrows so he would know I was confused, “She said you married her because you wanted to use her; is that the truth?” “I promise Travis, it isn't like that…” “What abilities was she talking about? You said you had a special reason for marrying her and I always
