An Unexpected Moment

When the meal arrived, we gathered in the dining room and ate in silence for long minutes. Back in the living room, I tried to convince him once again to fetch my suitcase.

"The car keys are right here with me," Ryan said, dangling a key in front of my face. "You just need to go get your things from the garage."

"I'd rather sleep in a robe than go to the garage," I replied.

"You don't have servants at your disposal anymore, Rachel."

"Soon enough, things will go back to how they were before. After all, I'm going to take a lot of money from that wannabe all-powerful boss of yours."

Ryan acted as I had imagined and seemed to be quite annoyed by my statement, as he didn't fight back, but just turned his back on me, walking over to the panoramic window and seeming to admire the cityscape.
