Aliyah finished taking her bath and felt a little comfortable. Relaxed enough to finally take in the view of the whole room, the mixture of modern European decor in the room was masterful and eye-pleasing.
An elaborate space filled with imported furniture of the highest command. Vintage aesthetics and artistic wall frames. Nothing was lacking. She, all her life, had never seen such a seamless array of exotic interior designs explored to perfection.
Aliyah's family belonged to the middle class of their society. They were on a well-to-do scale and were quite affluent in their own right, having an unrivaled mansion and always donning outfits people around them fawned over but right now, This was of course a next-level luxury.
The architecture, furnishing, and decor were charmingly classy seeming like a meticulously carved wing from a contemporary manor of a regal fantasy world.
In comparison to what she was used to and often bragged about, the difference was like heaven and earth.
As her mind wandered around the expansive bedroom it, boomeranged back to Ben's evil daring gaze once again, the owner of the abode.
Did he always have such money and power? If only I knew, I would not have looked down on him back then, She thought to herself. There was no way she could change anything now. Especially not in the past.
Aliyah was not feeling the least bit sleepy, how could she go to sleep easily after all that happened, she was trying to mentally prepare herself for all that was yet to come in the form of Ben's unkind, hurtful deeds.
After staying awake for a while she dosed off slowly and was fully passed out on the bed after a few minutes.
Tick! Tack!
Tick! Tack!
Aliyah was fully asleep yet could not help but react to the sound she was hearing, accompanied by the flickering of the antique light bulbs in her room.
She slowly opened her eyes and noticed that there was a blurry figure right in front of her face staring intensely at her.
“Aaahh"Aliyah shrieked in fear and backed away from the figure in her view. Now wide awake, she was well aware of who the person was.
“What the hell is wrong with you?.” she lashed out.
pfft! He scoffed as he climbed onto the bed.
“Perhaps you've forgotten so quickly that I own this house and every single thing in it, everything thing" he emphasized as he closed in on Aliyah. She backed away in fear, wondering what he was trying to do here.
The space between them was so little that a kitten would not be able to fit, she could hear him breathe but could hardly breathe herself.
“What...What are you trying to do?." she stammered. He stared directly into her soft eyes for a moment and then backed away quickly.
“mmmm... That's my line, I think I should be asking you that" Tyler responded. “I don't remember permitting you to rest yourself upon my specially designed, high-end mattress, do you know how much these beddings cost? Not just anyone can lay on it you know. especially not disposable trash like you ”
As those words reached her ears, Aliyah wondered what exactly Ben thought she was, Dirt. Filth?. Every word he seemed to utter was an attack on her already fragile self-esteem.Ben was visibly irritated, He made for the bed sheet and pulled it from beneath the bed, messing it up and pulling everything to the ground, as well as Aliyah who was sitting atop it,
Thud!
She crashed forcefully to the floor right on the bed sheet and was visibly shocked to the point that she was speechless. She stared daggers at him looking above her head from the floor, with sleepy eyes.
“You've sullied my expensive sheets, you might as well keep them or throw them out. Try to be comfortable, on the floor, where you belong" Ben wasted no breath and walked out on her before she could think of anything to say.
She remained still for a while and recoiled onto the floor with teary eyes wondering how long she was going to survive his cruelty, his hellish treatment, his extreme pettiness.
this is barely day one with him, if it went on this way I wouldn't last a week. She thought
Before he opened the door to exit the room, he turned and stared.“Oh..be mindful of what you say. What was that you said about a lunatic again? The walls have ears," he said with a finger tapping gently on his earlobe. “I look forward to having my meal tomorrow"
He banged the door behind him.
Aliyah was a little puzzled, did he hear that? What kind of psycho places bugs in the bathroom of his guests? She thought.
She remembered the last thing he said about looking forward to his meal, but was not sure what he was yapping about so she shrugged it off.
The last look in his eyes was pure irritation and disgust. it was as if he could stare right at her filthy soul.
***********************************************Next morning
Aliyah was woken up by the maid as early as 6 a.m. She was a little drowsy, she could barely sleep the night before, and waking up that early wasn't something she was used to.
“Umm... What's your name again? " the maid asked with an apprehensive stare as they both stood in front of the kitchen counter. With a lot of stuff placed on it.
“Aliyah” she replied.
“Oh. Aliyah," she paused. “the master has ordered for his steak to be cooked medium-rare and Eggs benedict perfectly made"
The insides of her eyebrows slanted still not sure what the hell was going on.
“Umm, I've never.... "
“That'll be all. I'll leave you to it okay? Get on with it now, you've got all you need right here"
She slammed both her hands on the counter and left.
“I... I... "Aliyah tried to draw her attention.
The maid did not even wait to listen to whatever Aliyah had to say. She couldn't care any less, her work for the day was cut out for her, and she wasn't gonna waste time babysitting a newbie.
Aliyah did not get to tell her that she had never done this before in her life, there was always somebody to do it all for her, a spoilt brat she was, how was she going to make this in line with his request?“How hard can it be," she said, a poor attempt to cheer herself up as she braced herself for the task before her.
It took over an hour for Aliyah to wrap things up, and like it was planned the maid came back into the kitchen to check if she was done.
the made had set the table and by the time Aliyah came to drop off the meal she prepared, Ben was already sitting at the table.
She dropped the meal in front of him and stood a few steps away waiting for him to dig in. She has tried her best.
Ben stared at her briefly examining her as she was awaiting his review, he noticed the bandages wrapped around her fingers and then he proceeded to dig in.
“What manner of rubbish Is this... Is this supposed to be what I asked for? Huh? " he said as he took a slice of the steak to his mouth, after chewing for a while, his brows furrowed with obvious disappointment.
He took a napkin and spat out the morsel of meat into it. “The steak is overdone, I've never seen such a disastrous symphony of poorly cooked food"
Aliyah was obviously unpleased with his reaction, for her, she had put her all into that and he trashed all her efforts like it was nothing of note.
“What is it you are good for actually? Huh?. of What use can you be to me?"
It was beginning to seem like this wasn't just about the food she made, it was beyond that.“Celine! Celine! ” Ben roared
“Yes Master, is there a problem?"
“Yes there is, it's obvious that your interest in keeping your job has dwindled, it appears you left her unsupervised to run riot in my kitchen. "
“No Sir, Forgive me, Sir, I had told her exactly what you asked me" the maid trembled in obvious fear of Ben. His every word.
“You are entirely forgiving, but I will no longer be requiring your services, you are fired."“You" Ben called to the lady standing right beside Celine. “You are in charge now"
“Thank you Sir" the lady replied emphatically.“I want her nowhere near my kitchen until she learns how to make something properly fit for human consumption" Ben warned pointing a finger directly at Aliyah.
“Yessir, I'll do all I can" She was spared for now. This was unusual, a single error was always enough for the master to fire everyone within his sight, but for some reason, she was spared but she couldn't say the same for her senior, Celine, Thank goodness, she thought to herself.
He got up abruptly from the chair
“Go take off those rags you're wearing" He bluntly said.
“Take off? What do you mean?" Aliyah finally spoke, her mind wandered far and wide.
“Are we going somewhere?”
“You've ruined my morning and you are going to have to make up for that somehow," Ben said before he dashed away.
She wondered what he meant while she lazily walked the large hallway down to her room. She thought perhaps he meant to speak to another person. But why ask for a change of clothes? Where are they going? It was then it dawned on her that she actually had nothing to wear out. As soon as she walked into the room, she noticed that there were boxes stacked up on the bed. As she stepped closer to inspect, she finally saw what was inside them. It was clothes, not just any clothes, the most expensive kind, different designer brands, the top of the fashion chain. “Is this all for me?" She exclaimed. Her internal excitement became visible on her face, she lit up with a smile but was dragged back down to earth when she reasoned the face behind the gifts. All Ben did was unsettle her, with every breath, with every action of his. She was from a well-to-do family but was sure she had never seen this much designer wear packed together in one spot. After a while, she had dressed up and was ready
Ben stopped in his tracks as soon as her words settled in his ears.“Did you have to beat someone up that badly, in broad daylight?" she added, now tensed in anticipation of his response. He turned to face Aliyah and stared daggers at her, she was rendered mute by his stare. What even is his problem? Aliyah thought to herself. The look he gave her sent shivers down her spine, One minute he was forthcoming and chatty and the next he was like an entirely different person. How did he become such a scary person? Ben swiftly walked toward her, Aliyah backed away until she was cornered to a wall. “Perhaps I should remind you of your place." Before Aliyah could say a word, he lunged his arm at her, wrapping it around her throat, tightening his fingers like a noose around her neck, just enough to allow her to breathe. Aliyah tried to break free almost on the verge of tears, but she was no match for his manly strength. “What is wrong with you? I can't breathe" His abrupt action took
2 men hid behind a billboard across the street observing the situation from afar. “The boss is gonna have my head today," he said as he nervously scratched his rough head of hair. Jonn was a man who worked under the Ernesto family, he and another man had been assigned to look after the boss' nephew who came from out of town, to keep him safe and out of trouble because he wasn't familiar with the ways of the mafia and now things had taken a turn they did not expect.“I leave him for a few minutes, and he goes to fuck with the Carlo family, who even knew this was one of their businesses. Do they want to take over this entire freaking city?.” He said as he peeked at the men that were a few streets away. “What..what are we going to do now?" the second man asked frantically. After scrambling through his brain for the best course of action Jonn replied: “We are just going to wait and see for now, we don't need to do anything for now."Drago was instructed to throw the man out of sight,
After a while they stopped in front of what seemed like a nightclub, Ben parked his car and got out. Aliyah who had no idea where they were supposed to be going also followed suit. Ring! A call came in on his phone And he answered. Ben stood for a minute at the entrance still on a call. He rested upon his car as passersby gazed upon his refined and elegant looks.Aliyah could see the looks that people gave him. It was now that she finally got to observe him closely. Without him staring daggers at her with his brown eyes.He looked too good for a man who'd resort to choking a lady out of breath, just in the name of getting his point across. She had always turned heads anywhere she went, given her superior looks, but this was the first time that a guy next to her was stealing the spotlight. She stared at the handsome devil almost forgetting what he had done to her this morning. She snapped back into reality. “You could at least tell me where we are headed to you know" Aliyah sugges
Aliyah danced and danced throughout the night till they left the nightclub, her face was awash with exhaustion, and the thought of the embarrassment she had just gone through, was like like bulb in her throat she couldn't swallow, After the nightclub they had wasted no time In leaving, which she was actually thankful for, any other minute in that outfit and she just might have died of intense shame. As they went on, she randomly peered at Ben who was driving and paid no attention to her. the humiliation she faced, making her dance in front of all those horny perverts, It was something she could never forget for the rest of her life, and it was all because of this uncouth man, her eyes were rife with hatred and disgust, she felt a slight urge to stab him right then and there with whatever she laid eyes on in the car. Even if they ended up in an accident she wouldn't mind if that was how it ended. The humiliation she had to face today was more than anyone should get in a lifetime or t
Aliyah was forced to wake up by the large and noisy entrance Ben made into her room. She turned around on the bed and her groggy gaze fell on the man standing at the edge of the bed, looking all graceful and ready to start a new day with an evil intent of troubling her. Her body still ached from the physical exertion she went through, dancing all night and still having to clean up an entire house, that was too much physical exercise for a normal person to do in a day, talk less of someone as frail as her. Any normal person would be aware of that, any considerate person would, but the man was neither of those things, far from it even, he was as vile and malicious as they came. “Get up. We have something to do," he said, his eyes were pierced straight to her and Aliyah felt like he intended to dig a hole in her forehead. He was heavily pissing her off with his haughty attitude. With a frustrated sigh, Aliyah brushed her hair to the back and asked “What's that?" She attempted to mak
By the time Aliyah and Drago reached the Hospital her right foot had swollen up quite a bit, she cursed Ben under her breath. The pain In her sprained leg had intensified rapidly during her forced workout routine. Aliyah got so loud that Ben had to give the order that she be taken to a clinic, She had never seen such an inconsiderate douchebag of a man. Despite seeing that she was unable to move properly he still made her strain her feet more. She thought for a quick second about what he was probably up to right at the moment, not that she cared. Ben warned her about trying anything funny, yapping about how expensive of an item she was to let roam about unchecked, immediately before assigning Drago to take her there, with him around the thought of escaping wouldn't even fly past her mind. She had taken a quick look at him and his stare meeting hers sent shivers down her spine. The man was as menacing as he was big and tall. “Ouch! It hurts really bad"Aliyah cried in pain as the
The look on her face made it obvious that she'd rather not be here right now, she wishfully prayed that the ground would open and swallow her up right this instant, And spit her up anywhere far away from where she was. “Hey," she greeted with a not-so-sincere smile on her face. "Good to see you...... Karl?"“Yeah, that's me"She hoped the look on her face wasn't betraying her words, there was nothing good about this development for her. Not at all. Jennie pointed a finger at Aliyah. "You know her?" Jennie asked surprised at the development, apparently, she was the only one here who didn't know Aliyah. It felt to her like she was getting left out."Yeah, she's...We went to the same college" Karl responded emphatically. Jennie's eyes traveled from Karl back to Aliyah. "How've you been Aliyah, It's been what? 5years? I never knew that you were staying here, Ben didn't mention anything about that to me” Karl paused, his eyes traveling to her feet, and he noticed her banded leg which
Chloe stepped into her room and went on a frantic search for her phone. Her father barely threatened her but she was sure that whenever he did, it wasn't a joke—this annoyed her to the core. She picked up her phone, intending to make a call, and scrolling through the call log, she dialed a number."Hello, Clarice," she spoke abruptly. "Hey, Chloe it's been a while. How are you? you don't sound so good." Clarice detected immediately that the unease in Chloe's voice was clear."Is everything okay with you?" She asked with great concern. She drew in her breath to recall herself before she spoke. "I'm fine, umm...remember the last time we had a reunion and you invited Aliyah?" Chloe went straight to the point.Clarice was puzzled by the direction their discussion was going since Chloe never tried to hide her contempt for Aliyah. Hearing her start with something that concerned her was off-putting."Y-Yeah I do" she stammered, her lips curling to one side as she waited for her friend's
Dave Thompson sat down in the living room of his opulent house, looking disturbed and worried as he angrily slammed his phone on the table—he was heavily disoelws3d from the news he just heard. Mark was just not anyone to their organization, he had a lot of resources and was like a brother to him, so the news reaching him about the death of his friend shook him to the core, but what disturbed him more was how Mark was killed and tossed in the street close to one of their underground business headquarter—he was certain that whoever killed Michael was not just powerful but daring and he was after something that without a doubt had something to do with him as well. He cursed under his breath before standing up, pacing around, and thinking deeply about something—he would have to get Akiyah out of Ben's territory sooner and not later, cause there was so much time. If he wasn't careful, the next death would be his and maybe it would be more cruel compared to what his friend suffe
Ben held a blank look at her before he shut the door, and the last thing she saw was his lips slowly pulling into a smirk. She zapped out of the room like a scaredy cat, his eyes trailed to the item that was placed stop his table, a small parcel that was no bigger than a brick. His eyes flicked as a thought seemed to extinguish in his mind. he turned his back to carry on with what he was doing. What was that about? She wondered if she could still feel his breath on her skin even though she was away from him already.Aliyah cursed him in a low voice before heading down the stairs. Cecile was nowhere to be found and Aliyah assumed she was already getting ready in her room, so she went straight to the kitchen. She still couldn't find Viola, so she decided to just start preparing the dish, she wanted to do it alone without assistance, so this was fine. Just as Aliyah brought out the ingredients she needed, she stepped over to the refrigerator and opened it, bringing out some vegetable
Cecile might have tried to hide it but getting a compliment from Ben pleased her.She was a little girl at the end of the day and even though she was so against her brother she still sought validation from him, to be seen and to be heard.Viola and Aliyah observed as she came by to drop the plates that had been lined in the room for a while."You are lucky Master Ben didn't get angrier than that, that was a crazy stunt you tried to pull. how could you do that?" Viola stated Aliyah rolled her eyes at the endless nagging she was receiving from her makeshift older sister."Don't worry about it, I was just about tired of his attitude that was why I did that, okay?" Viola only pursed her lips. She took a long probing gaze at Aliyah's and then suddenly relented since she seemed to be getting nowhere with the scolding. With all that had happened and how Ben had reacted to the whole thing it all made Aliyah wonder if he was trying to seem softer to his sister, if that wasn't the case there wa
A black Mercedes drove into a dark alleyway across the street, a narrow way in between long buildings, and after a while, it came to a slow stop. Chris stepped out of the car, and brushed his hair to the back, with closed eyes, he took in a deep breath and ruffled his hair, a smirk seized at his lips. Rolling the car keys in his hand, he approached a door, opened it, and stepped into a dark room. As soon as he walked in, the lights flickered on, his skeptical eyes scanned the surroundings, and he muttered, "Let's get down to business, Ernesto. Unlike you, I have other things to do rather than stay hidden in a dark alleyway while planning an attack on my rival." Chris pulled out a chair, wiped it off with a napkin on the table, and sat down, crossing his legs to sit in a relaxed state. Nearly two minutes after he welcomed himself in, shoe clicks echoed through the small room and a man came into view. Standing tall, emanating a thoughtful presence, his angular jawline was mark
The heat that exploded in his body due to the spice in the food was unimaginably painful, he felt it in every inch of his body as he experienced severe heart burn, he knew for a fact, that beyond any reasonable doubt, this was a malicious orchestration. Heavy beads of sweat formed and trickled down his forehead as he held himself in place with shere will, if he wasn't used to the sensation of pain he'd have been rolling on the floor like a goddamn child.Cecile had a knack for getting back at him but he knew for a fact that she'd never pull such a trick. Already knowingly, there was only one other person who would have done it and he knew.Ben leaned his back against the wall for support, still reeling from the near-death experience he just had before he'd go back into the dining room, if she was trying to play a fast one for him for petty revenge, even if she won he wouldn't let her see that or get the pleasure of her success.Aliyah's eyes scanned around and there was still no sign
Ben left Aliyah seeking clues about what the hell he meant about all that. She was beyond confused wondering what she could possibly do to get through to him, to appeal to that rock-hard heart of his.She suddenly heard the door swing open, and Ben strutted slowly into the room looking ready to go to bed."You have told me to try to earn the privilege but you have given me no clue on how to do that whatever I do, you are just going to have to bear with it then. Until I figure it out.""Whatever I don't care," he replied casually before nestling on the bed.His answer was expected, she grinned as she watched him turn his back to her."Fine then I'll just do whatever I can since he asked for this she thought to herself."With the answer he gave, she was going to find a way to get on his good side one way or another, but before all that, there was something she needed to do first.Something that had been burning within her since the incident, her urge for vengeance, Whatever his reason
Ben pulled his car to stop, right by the corner of the road as a call came in. It was from Levi, and he had been expecting him to call sooner rather than later. He had handed Mark over to him and there were answers that he required."Hello Levi, what has he told you?" he went straight to the point."I got him to tell me all he knew, and as you suspected the Costello family seems to be involved, but I think it's more than just that, there was some sort of connivance, we've also been able to locate Riccardo's sister."He gave a deep sigh and brushed his hand through the loose strands of his hair."Find her and make sure she regains her freedom, do whatever you need to do, and bring her back.""Alright, Sir," Levi replied affirmatively"One more thing, boss, It has to do with your lady," he knew exactly who Levi was talking about."What is it?" Ben asked as his face contorted into a frown."All I could surmise is that a big player in politics seems to have been involved in a series of ki
A tall dark brooding man dropped out of his car, the entirety of his attire was black, as if he had just come from a funeral. His darkened gaze was that of a cold murderer, it was Levi, Ben's right-hand man. He tapped gracefully on the side of the cigar pack and swiped up the first one that popped up, sliding it between his fingers he lit it up and took a long, and deep breath, feeling up his insides with the thick smoke oozing from the burning cigar, he swiped it between his fingers and released a puff.Levi stared around briefly before he ambled into a seemingly abandoned building, his shoe clicked gracefully in the alleyway.tossing aside his half-finished stick of cigarette.Levi took a quick look at the battered man who was sitting on the floor with his hands tied behind his back, clear bruises lining every corner of his swollen face, hardly being able to move around because of the cruel torture he had been through. Sitting and looking pathetic on the floor, with blood oozing ou
