Fifty seven

“Kyra,” Anton called before he rushed over to where she was huddled on the floor. He wanted to wrap his arms around and pull her out so he could hug her close and know that she was finally safe, but he hesitated.

She was staring straight ahead and when he placed himself in her line of focus, it looked as if she was not seeing him. She was staring through him while rocking and muttering words he could not hear.

“Kyra?” He slowly moved to knee in front of her as he waved his hand in front of her face, but no reaction came from her.

Anton was confused on what to do. He has never seen anything like this before, but she appeared the same way she was when she went into shock after her miscarriage. He was scared that if he touched her, he would spook her and there would be problems.

He moved back and faced Cynthia, “Go out and tell the guards that she had been found. Everyone can go back to their duty post and call the doctor.”
