After more and more shadows of withered trees, mushrooms, and puddles, it was awhile before they saw anything different. A blurry shadow that was much smaller than the trees made an appearance. The closer they got, the more defined the edges were, and the more human-like they looked.

"Am I seeing things...?" Tatusya whispered out in astonishment.

"Then we must all be seeing things." Tadashi whispered back.

Everyone nodded with similar expressions of shock, surprise, and apprehension.

Naoko had not read about a creature like this in the world book and did not remember coming across something like this in the creature encyclopedia.

"They look like us but they're at least TWO times our size." Hansuke whispered.

"Are we about to meet giants?" Tatsuya wondered aloud.

While Naoko was still pondering over what they should do, Aimi suggested "I think it's better to wait for them to approach

Everything Tadashi said matched what BaoBao had told her, except for one point. Although they were indeed treated like honoured guests, Tatsuya had requested for a large room. He thought it better to stay together in a new and unknown environment. It was only after Tadashi came to that they got put into different rooms. Tadashi refused to share a room with Aimi whom he still could not bring himself to trust. He did not want to risk being caught unaware and have something to happen to Naoko or him. When he made his discomfort known to their hospitable hosts, they quickly empathised with him and became partial towards him. Tadashi guessed that there was a slight misunderstanding based on the hostile gazes they directed towards the other four. However, he did not bother correcting anything. Naoko's safety was his first priority, he got what he wanted, and it did not look like his friends would be harmed. BaoBao could know this because Tadashi's protectiven

Naoko immediately began her martial arts practice the moment they returned to their room. There was plenty of space in the room for her to do so.Tadashi stared at her, speechless. He sighed lightly and shook his head with a helpless smile. He stood by the door contemplating if he should join her in her practice. Before he knew it, he had already stared at her longer than he intended to. Something about watching her being active again filled him with so much happiness that he could not take his eyes off of her. He absentmindedly made himself comfortable on the bed instead. The way he watched her with a peaceful smile plastered on his face was like an avid art appreciator admiring a masterpiece. The longer Naoko practiced her martial arts, the more disturbed she felt. Eventually, she could no longer tolerate his staring. So, she stopped. Feeling slightly irritated at herself, she glanced at him sharply with a slight pout. /Shouldn't I be used to his star

Naoko's eyelids slowly lifted. Tadashi's peaceful sleeping profile filled her sight. A gentle warmth unfurled in her chest the longer she observed his face. A tiny smile appeared on her face and softened her expression. Not wanting to disturb his sleep, she wriggled and wormed her way out of his grasp as gently as she could. It was effortful and took time but she eventually made it out without waking him up. Her eyes scanned the room. It did not look the littlest bit brighter. The only indication that time had passed was the light filtering in through the gaps of the rag door. Just as she swung her legs off the bed, the sound of Tadashi stirring in his sleep drew her attention back to him. Tadashi's red eyes were wide open and alert as he pushed himself up. "Naoko?" His voice still hoarse from having just woken up. "Where're you going?" Worry and fear was evident in his voice. A wry smile formed on her face. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare

"I'd like to learn more about this thing you call auras." Naoko said the moment she climbed up onto the large bench. As soon as she spoke, she regretted it. Her cheeks turned pink. She did not want to come off as rude or impatient. /I guess the fog's finally getting to me too.../ She lamented to herself inwardly. Meanwhile, a deep chuckle left Dai's lips while he helped himself to the mountain of raw meat placed in the middle of the table that was free for all to take. Each table had a plate like that. With such poor hygiene, Naoko wondered at the back of her mind how diseases and such had not wiped the locals out yet. "So you're a brainy one. You'd fit in comfortably with them." Dai gestured towards a general direction. Naoko was sure that he was pointing to a specific group of people but everyone looked the same to her. Nonetheless, he began to answer her question. "Auras are something we're all born with. Before we can use it, we hav

Naoko soon realised that there was no direction whatsoever in the entire village. With just one declaration, everyone got moving, but they went wherever they wanted to and did whatever they wanted to. There were no further directions or instructions dished out. Some moved things around within the village. Most left the village. A handful looked after the young ones who were still too young to help with anything. The closest thing that came close to delegation of roles were locals saying that they needed more hands. Regardless, it did not end up as a chaotic mess. It was as if everyone knew where they belonged. There was no argument between two people about wanting to do the same job.Naoko stood at the entrance of the communal hall. Her eyes followed every passing local and observed every little thing they did."As much as I'd like to help too, it doesn't look like we can do anything." Tadashi said while he looked pointedly at the huge things the locals were hefting up

"Whenever you're ready to join us, just do so!" The male local that brought them to this room suddenly cut in. Naoko snatched her hand back from Tadashi's face. Her face turned a little red like she was just caught doing something she was not supposed to. The male local that stayed behind in the room earlier also spoke up. "I have heard everything from these two. You have one of the brightest minds I have ever come across. I can see where you'll go after you grow up." His eyes already looked like there was a sense of loss. However, there was pride as well. Like a parent foreseeing the moment when the child leaves the nest. Her heart felt a slight twinge in her heart as her parents' faces flashed in her mind. She then felt her hand being squeezed firmly. She turned her gaze onto the person responsible for it. She could feel his support and encouragement. She squeezed his hand back and gave him a warm smile. The locals told Naoko and Tadashi about the liv

Tadashi closed the distance between their lips. He gently licked and kissed her supple sweet lips. Naoko smiled and giggled. It caused Tadashi to groan. He pushed his tongue deep down into her mouth. It still tasted like the sweet drink they had been drinking all day. Coupled with her enthusiastic response, Tadashi's reason snapped. His groan was so deep, it sounded like a growl. Their clothes were taken off in just a moment. Their body heat drew them closer to each other than ever before. He breathed in her heady scent, and before long, he reached for her nether regions. Upon touching it, she yelped and her hips arched towards his hand."God..." Tadashi whispered against her lips, as he continued to stroke her nether regions. Naoko half sighed and half moaned in pleasure. Her hips wriggled a little in response to his touch. Unable to hold himself back any longer, he adjusted himself so that the tip of his manhood was placed before her little sweet entrance. "Naoko... You rea

Did you hang out with the barbarians too much?" Aimi chided as she made her grand entrance. She tossed swords that were incredibly light and easy to wield to Naoko and Tadashi. "I haven't forgotten my purpose of being here."Naoko was impressed with how Aimi's words conveyed different meanings to her and Tadashi but served the same effect.Things were easier to manage with Aimi's and Hansuke's aid. In view of Naoko's safety, Tadashi accepted their help with a look on his face like he was forced to swallow something very bitter. They began to retreat. However, the creatures never backed off."How are they so relentless?" Aimi grumbled under the breath."Where are they all coming from? Aren't there many others battling ahead of us?" RenRan began napping. A lot. Souls did not need sleep, but they could choose to do so. FanHai was one of those who seemed to never catch a wink of sleep. While RenRan slept, he stayed by her side, always keeping himself busy with something. This carried on for a good time before she began to catch him with his guard lowered after waking up. ‘A while more.’ RenRan did not believe that a man like him could keep himself entertained this long and resist a cat nap with her. At this point, BaoBao cried out in frustration. There were a few times she could have slipped away because he had already fallen asleep with her! He even dared to cuddle with her. That spot was only reserved for two people! Him and the familiar soul! “Is it really too much to assist by waking her up?” He challenged the elder one. “Is it so hard for her to stay awake in a world that doesn’t need sleep?” He challenged BaoBao back. “...That’s easy for you to say.” Then, BaoBao puffed his cheeks and returned to gl

RenRan’s eyes opened wide. No matter how hard she pushed against him or how much she pounded his chest, shoulders, or head, he persisted on. She tried to bite him, but he avoided using his tongue and skillfully moved his mouth in tandem with her attempts. With his hand cupping the back of her head, she could not break the kiss either. She was at his complete mercy. ‘I should have dropped the act earlier. This isn’t worth it!’ Fear slowly gripped her heart as she wondered how far he would take it. Then, he stopped, just as suddenly as he started. “Enough?” He grinned and meaningfully applied greater pressure on her lower back. His move made RenRan conscious of the rock hard member against her abdomen. Immediately recognising what it was, she fiercely pushed against his chest and demanded, “Okay, let me go! I’ll properly spend some time with you first!” He smiled with satisfaction. “Like I thought.” Then, he let her go. “You wouldn’t have to waste so much time and energy if you jus

Instead, she attempted to twist her arm free again. “Even so, I’ve never heard of a compass malfunctioning because of this before.” Annoyed with his accusations, RenRan tuned in

Luna was right. She had inhabited Luo RenRan’s body. RenRan’s family belonged to the working class, but her gripe was not their standard of living, it was her parents’ favourtism for her brothers. She was the only girl, and she was the oldest. Anything her brothers did, she was responsible for. Any wrong they committed, they were let off with a more lenient punishment, while she was supposed to forgive and forget. Their expectations for her and the restrictions they imposed on her could not be compared to the standards they held her brothers against. The only solace she had was that her siblings never directly crossed her line, even when she was old enough to start working. If only it stayed that way forever. “RenRan... Forgive your brother, okay? You know he only took it because he needed it and only you can help him. If you have someone you need to blame, blame your father.” A gentle motherly voice coaxed her. “If your father helped, none of us would be

"I dare you to say it again.” The same voice challenged her. Luna turned towards the source. There it was again. The sensation when she moved was familiar. However, she had no time to make sense of it. The deep voice belonged to a burly woman, instead of a man like Luna had assumed, not that it made anything better. Her guest looked as friendly as a starving lioness. Luna straightened her neat celestial-like robes while she quickly collected her thoughts.
