Chapter 30
Selena's POVAxel cradled me in his arms as we talked. In the last thirty minutes, I was certain I had laughed uncontrollably for half of the time. It felt peaceful, knowing he was mine alone."Let's play a drinking game", Axel suggested."I'm sorry, honey. Do you have an underlying intention in making me drunk and sloppy?", I dramatically announced.Axel grinned wolfishly. "You've caught me", he conceded. "I have plans for this lady in my arms but I first need to get her drunk"We burst into laughter when I playfully smacked his chest. "You can't reveal your hidden intentions to me""Oh right. My bad"After a few more banter, we left the bed, moving to a table in the room. Axel dramatically presented a bottle of whiskey, with two shot glasses."Are you ready?", he announced."No. I don't even know what the game is about""Well, what should we play?", he lookChapter 31Selena's POV Sweat beaded my forehead as my eyes scanned the room. The familiar surroundings brought a renewed sense of comfort to me. My heart was still palpitating in fear at the scene I just witnessed but it was just a dream. A very vivid dream. Straightening myself from my lying position, I tried to calm my racing heart. My lifted my trembling hands to my hair, pushing the troublesome mass of black from my face. Lily pushed open the door, causing me to jump. "Are you okay?"she stopped at the foot of the bed, watching me carefully. "You jumped just now out of fright. Did something happen?"I swallowed, feeling the sting of my dry throat. "I'm fine", I muster a shaky smile. "I don't know why I suddenly got so startled"Lily seemed satisfied with the answer as she shrugged, moving away. "I completely understand that", she replied. "It happens to me on the worst of days"The pack house must be bustling with activities; by this time, as the clock next to my bed glowed , r
Chapter 32Selena's POV If Cecelia was shocked by my sudden visit, she didn't show it. She had been sitting on the couch, silently sipping from a cup of goddess knows what, legs crossed and a nonchalant air around her. "I need to speak to you", I hated the desperation in my voice but I prayed it would grant me some emotional pass. Cecelia looked impatient but waved me on. "Talk and fast""Did you tell Asher about Axel and I?", my eyes scanned the room, hoping there was no one watching or listening in on our exchange. "What's it to you? Huh?", she rolled her eyes in annoyance. "You were acting all high and mighty, and went as far as convincing the Alpha to threaten me", she scoffed. "You really are something else""Don't bring Axel into this", I cautioned. "Tell me, Selena", she leaned forward conspiratorially. "What in the goddess name did you do to have such an effect on him?", she asked. "I don't know what you're talking about", I folded my arms defensively. "Do not mention an
Chapter 33Unknown POVEthan could feel his plan slowly coming together. There were some things he still had no idea on, like Selena's room and possible escape routes just in case of an unexpected event. But his father is an Alpha so he had a chance to know all that if he simply asked. He would go to the Night Reapers pack house, a few days from now, and by the time he was done with a tour of the place, it'd be easier to take Selena out of the house. The excitement bubbled through him, causing his smile to widen. He cocked his head, staring at the carefully constructed chart on the pinboard in his room. It had everything he planned, right down to the house he arranged for him and Selena when they left Shadowsvale. He would soon be reunited with his one true love. A knock on the door pulled him from his reverie. It was his elder brother. "Come down, Ethan", he called out. "Dad wants to see us both""I'll be right there", he replied, listening to the sound of his brother's fading fo
Chapter 34Unknown POV Elsa trailed secretly after an unsuspecting Ethan. He had unknowingly led her to the pack house that Selena was currently residing in. Ethan had resolved in his heart to strike now rather than later. He came the previous day to familiarize himself with the house and without looking at a map, he was certain he could find Selena's room with his eyes closed. Elsa had thought long and hard about what to do to stop Ethan from leaving with Selena but nothing tangible came to mind. She had found it difficult to fall asleep that night as thoughts overwhelmed her and the craziest nightmares haunted her. It was already dawn before she realized it, and still, a plan was not in place. Elsa decided to go with the flow. She'd follow Ethan to the Night Reapers pack house and know what to do when she finally gets there. Now, the two stood in front of the looming mansion, Elsa a bit farther behind. Ethan began his walk, pleasantly waving at everyone whom he crossed paths w
Chapter 35Selena's POV "Selena?"I instantly recognized that voice even without seeing the source. The same voice had made most of my life a living nightmare and caused the most unbearable pain to me. Axel's voice over the phone was nothing more than background noise as I froze, dreading the hurt that I would feel the moment I turned. Elsa still looked the same, especially the devilish glint in her eyes that indicated the beginning of something crazy. I couldn't help but be taken back to that night, the night where I felt like everything I held precious had been snatched right from my hands. Snatched by another who had it all."What...", I trailed off. I could see the smirk that now decorated Elsa's face. She was silently taunting me, knowing the effect her presence had on me."What are you doing here?", I finally spoke out, watching her cautiously. "Didn't you miss me, Selena?", Elsa asked. She moved closer, her heels now clacking against the marble floor. It hurt my ears, the
Chapter 36Selena POV Elsa temporarily stopped her attacks, taken aback by my sudden agility. "What?"I wasted no time, running to her with a growl. The adrenaline woke my wolf as I felt her stir. For omegas, it was difficult to transform until the situation was dire like if I was on the brink of death. Now, I could feel a strange tingling sensation in my bones before I heard cracking. I was transforming to my wolf form?My skin itched and burned, and soon, I was covered in white fur. Elsa looked like she had seen a ghost. She recovered quickly though, transforming to a brown wolf. Her yellow wolf eyes revealed as much as her human eyes showed. The hot glare. Elsa attacked blindly first, simply leaping in my direction as I sidestepped her quickly. She snapped on thin air, landing effortlessly on her paws. Growling, she made another move to attack but I simply avoided it as easily. My sudden abilities surprised me. I could never outrun or maneuver through Elsa's attacks back home
Chapter 37Selena's POV Gretchen threw orders at me as I punched the bag violently. Sweet beaded my forehead, my bones groaned and my muscles hurt, still I couldn't stop. After the events of the previous day, my mind had been filled with different thoughts. I was scared, to be honest concerning what Axel might discover. "Stop", Gretchen ordered, forcing me to halt my assault on the punching bag. "What's wrong?", I panted out, attempting to even my breathing. "You're not focused, Selena", she frowned. After weeks of trailing after Gretchen like some lost puppy, she reluctantly agreed to train me, not due to my persistence but because my constant invasion of her space was slowly driving her to the brink of insanity. "I'm sorry", I apologized. "There's just been so much going on in my head""Then get your head straight. I can't keep training you if you aren't ready"Nodding, I took a large gulp of water before dabbing the sweat that had gathered on my forehead. "I'm ready", I poi
Chapter 38Unknown POV Ethan threw a punch to the mirror, hearing the satisfying crunch of bone and the shattering of glass. He took deep breaths, attempting to calm his heart from racing due to the anger. Elsa had ruined it all. That was supposed to be the perfect time to take Selena away from that rotten place but Elsa just had to spoil his plans. His bursted knuckles had shards of glasses embedded in his skin as blood dripped down and unto the white tiled floor but he could barely register the pain. His image was distorted as he stared into the cracked mirror now decorated with splashes of blood. He needed to think of something fast. Ethan growled, rubbing his face in frustration. There would be another time. He knew that. Another opportunity would present itself and he'd be ready when it did. **Elsa sighed, straightening herself from the large bed. She imagined Selena living in such luxury and that further angered her. Even her room wasn't half the size of this place and h
