Sienna:

I woke up to my bedroom door opening, frowning when I couldn’t see who was standing in the shadow.

It was dark, and I was still drowsy with painkillers, but that didn’t mean that I liked it. After what happened with my brother, I knew to be more than just a little careful from here.

“You can rest, it’s only me.” Alonzo’s voice made me release a breath that I didn’t realize that I was holding. He walked toward the nightstand that was beside me and I watched as the man turned on the light, looking at me with gentle eyes as he did. “Are you okay?”

“Should I be?” I asked, and he looked away from me, not saying a word.

“I shouldn’t have let you go alone. I should have followed or at least sent one of the men to do so.” He said, and I smiled, shaking my head at the man.
