Chapter 170

Diablo:

I watched as my wife lay on bed, curled up under the blanket as she slept.

I didn't blame her for her anger. Her feeling was one that I would have felt too. I didn't even know how to explain what I felt about Alonzo, but I knew one thing, he was going to pay for what he did. However, being her mother, I knew that she was in more conflict than she was letting out.

I got up from bed and gently kissed the crown of her head, careful not to wake her up as I did. She stirred, but thankfully she still curled up and slept.

“I know that you are in pain, neonata.” I said softly. “But I'm going to be sure to set everything right. However, things are not going to go the way we want them to. They rarely ever do. This is war, and in war all is fair.”
