Chapter 3: About Lyon

Selene had been married to Lyon Armstrong for a year, but it seemed like yesterday. The last scene stays with her, especially the day Lyon arrives to rescue her.

She reminisces about everything while sitting in the gazebo in the garden's center.

(FLASHBACK)

"Uncle... Please tell me why my parents did that," sobs Selene. Her mind recalls the scene in which her parents jump from the roof of their house.

She has learned nothing since moving abroad.  Selene's relatives from both clans did not show up, so after burying her parents, she went to her father's brother to find out what was going on.

"How dare you come to my house! Your father is a thief! He has brought shame on the entire family!" exclaimed her uncle.

Selene retorted, "Uncle! I know my father would never do that!" She hadn't expected to hear that from his uncle because her father had always encouraged him when he was younger.

"Then you are mistaken; he has already done so, and worse, your father stole from the company for which he worked; therefore, if I were you, I would leave the city and never return!"

When the door opened and a group of men entered, Selene was about to respond.

"Well... well... well, looks like you have a visitor?" "Well... well... well, it appears you have a visitor," one man said as he stared at Selene.

"She is the daughter of my brother..."

"Yes, I recognize her... We went to the cemetery and saw her there," says the narrator.

"Uncle, who are they?"

"He is the guy your father robbed!"

Selene was stunned and terrified, convinced that the men had done terrible things.

"Uncle, I'll talk to you later, I have to leave," she hurried, but one man grabbed Selene first.

"Because your father killed himself, I don't have the luxury of torturing him! That's why you'll take his place!" exclaimed the man.

Selene exclaimed, "What are you doing?! Let me go! Uncle, do something!" But the man he had hoped would help him didn't. He did nothing but stand there and watch as the man yanked her up to the car.

Because the man continues to assault her and she loses consciousness along the way, Selene has no idea where they are going.

Selene recalled being led to the mansion, tortured, and thrown into a freezing room.

Fortunately, Lyon arrived... If he came a minute later, she would freeze to death.

(END OF FLASHBACK)

She stretched after exhaling deeply. Because it was already dark, Selene went inside.

Lyon had kept Selene imprisoned in this mansion for a year.

She never tried to run away because she was afraid of what happened the last time she tried.

Fortunately, the estate is too large for Selene to become bored, and Lyon granted her access to everything, so she has expertise in everything...

"Hmm, I think the new book will help me with my sleeping problem," Selene thought quietly as she walked down the hall to the study room.

However, as she got closer, Selene heard a Latin tune that was harmonious and sparked her interest.

"It's coming to the study room?" she asked, carefully opening the door.

It's Lyon! Selene covered her mouth, afraid of being overheard by the man focused on his move.

Is he dancing salsa on his own? Lyon raises his hand, pretending to have a partner as he performs his sexy spin.

Selene, on the other hand, noticed something...

Lyon's eyes are depressed... Selene has known him for a year, but she has never seen him like this...

Lyon appears vulnerable at the moment.

Selene couldn't sleep after the scene in the study room, so she went to bed early.

"Does it appear that my lovely sister-in-law is deep in thought?"

Selene instantly smiled. "Lucas! Finally, you've arrived..." she said, hugging him.

"Well, hearing your problematic voice in the middle of the night tortures me... So speak, what is the problem?" Lucas asked, sitting across from Selene and pouring coffee into a cup.

"The thing is... Does Lyon have a lover?" Selene inquired. Lyon's half-brother is Lucas, but the latter treats him very well. Lyon is so protective of his only sibling that he never gets him involved in illegal activities.

Lucas burst out laughing and made Selene frown. "A lover? You're asking me if Lyon was cheating on you? Are you insane?" Lucas asks, her eyes welling up with tears as he chuckles.

Selene frowned at Lucas' open amusement. Her question appears to be a big joke. "What's the big deal? Your brother is handsome, wealthy, and powerful... surely many women adore him," Selene argued.

"You're right... He's every woman's dream, but he married you," Lucas retorted, sipping his coffee.

Selene remained silent...

"Tell me, why are you asking such a stupid question? Did you catch my brother with another woman?" Lucas asked. But she doubts that ...

Selene took a deep breath before responding to Lucas. "Last night, I saw Lyon in the study room dancing alone, and his eyes—I can tell he's sad... so I thought Lyon missed his lover," Selene blushed.

"He misses his mother... Yesterday was his mother's death day, and every time this day comes, Lyon will lock himself in his study room and play music." Lucas paused, a sad smile on his face. "Lyon adores his mother; he is always present and watching whenever she dances, and they sometimes dance together..."

Selene was taken aback. He has been married to Lyon for a year but is unaware of this part of his life. How will you know if you do not make an effort to understand your husband? She thinks to herself.

"And, like you, he witnessed the deaths of his mother and our father..." Lucas added, fist clenched.

"They also committed suicide?" Selene exclaimed, stunned. She placed her hand on her lap to conceal its trembling.

"No, murdered... That night, a group came into the house and slaughtered everyone, except Lyon, who was lucky to survive with three bullets penetrating his body and miraculously no vital organ damage," Lucas replied.

That night, Selene couldn't sleep. Lyon's personality discoveries were still fresh in her mind. "Perhaps Lyon's family has an underworld problem, so that's why this happened..."

Knock on the door...

What do you want?" Selene asked as Lyon approached.

Lyon's lip raised as he continued walking and came to a halt beside the bed.

"If I said I wanted you... Will you willingly give yourself to me?" Lyon teased, touching Selene's chin and drawing her closer.
