Chapter 51 - Serve Me

I had slept a lot longer than I had wanted to and by the time I come downstairs, it’s already lunch time. I make quick work in the kitchen, knowing Knox has probably been in his office this whole time, I make a couple of sandwiches for us, and grab two bottles of water. The house is too quiet without any of the staff here, and as I walk through the halls, heading to Knox’s office, I get the feeling that I’m being watched. I know it's just my imagination, but it doesn't make me slow my steps down any.

I tap on the office door, and wait for permission to enter, regardless of how many times he’s told me that I don’t have to knock, “Come in, beautiful.” He sighs, giving me a warning look about knocking, when I open the door.

“I’m sorry. I can’t bring myself to just pop in when you are in your personal space.” I set the tray down and bring him over his turkey and Swiss sandwich, along with his water, “I figured you hadn’t eaten yet.”
