Chapter 27

Reyna-

“Stay behind me. They are trained mercenaries.” Luka pulled me back and then placed his arm out in front of me, blocking me from the men.

“Let me take care of them. You can’t risk getting killed.” I whispered, as to not let the men hear me.

“Our boss sends his regards. He is sorry he can’t be here to do the job himself.” The man in the center, standing slightly ahead of the others spoke, just before they rushed forward to attack.

Luka met them head-on, with me right behind him. There were too many for either of us to be able to handle together. It would be different if they attacked one at a time. Attacking like this could easily overwhelm even a strong fighter.

All these years of training with my brother have paid off, but I was no match for them. At best, I could hold them back and defend myself. Yet two against one was not good odds for me. Luka was handling four of the men.
