“What?”

“I’m leaving,” I declare.

Diana’s face goes white and she stares at me in shock. “How the hell do you plan on doing that?”

“I don’t know

I let out a hiss as a glass shard is yanked out of my arm. The pack doctor tosses it into a small metal bowl before looking over my face. “How did you get this much glass in your skin?” He asks, moving to take a fairly large fragment out of my shoulder.“It was a car crash but I don’t remember there being any windows in the back,” I mutter, gritting my teeth against the pain.

“Please don’t sedate me, it terrifies me that I might never wake up,” I beg, my eyes wide with fear. The doctor sighs in defeat. “Very well, at least let me give you an anesthetic so you don’t feel any pain.”“Fine, but if it’s actually a sedative, I am going to kill you when I wake up,” I spit, giving him a warning glare.

I look around at the angels laying on the ground, most of their wings bent at odd angles. Bruises already cover their bodies and I'm guessing that several of them have broken bones.I watch as the wolves are on them immediately, locking them in handcuffs and dragging them away to the pack's prison. I flinch when their pained screams meet my ears."That was brutal," Diana mutters, standing beside me as we watch the angels disappear from view.Daniel suddenly walks up to us, his arms crossed over his chest. "Well now we should finally get some answers.""Yeah," I murmur, turning away and walking towards Daniel's house. I can hear him following me all the way to my room."What?" I snap, whipping around when he tries to follow me into the room."Are you okay?" He asks so gently that my face loses all its anger in surprise."No, it reminds me too much of what happened to my parents," I sigh, walking over and sitting down on the bed.He closes the door and sits down at the edge of the bed, p

"Diana!" Daniel yells, sprinting over to where she is lounging on the grass. She lifts her sunglasses, takes one look at Daniel, then leaps to her feet."Oh shit!" My agonized screams echo through the forest. The painful burning underneath my shoulder blades is at the point where I feel like I’m going to pass out.“Ana I know you’re in pain but if we don’t get out of here right now we’ll all be dead,” Daniel says. His voice is quiet but firm.I nod quickly, squeezing my eyes shut against the burn.“I’m going to shift and all you have to do is hold on, just don’t let go of me and we will be alright, okay?” He tell me.I nod again, then release his arm and collapse onto the ground.I hear cracking and peel my eyes open enough to see his black wolf standing in front of me. I grab onto him, letting out a cry of pain as Diana helps me onto his back.My fingers clench tightly into his fur, so hard I don’t know how he isn’t in pain. He takes off running and I bury my face into his neck to stifle my screams. Each step, no matter how graceful or smooth, sends a jolt through my body straight to my spine. I hear shouting behind us and turn to look.I see fl

"Wow so we’re all hybrids," I mutter. "Well kind of," Diana says. "What?" "I mean I don't actually know who my father was so the hybrid thing is more of an educated guess, don't really know for sure," she mumbles, half to herself. I purse my lips in annoyance. "That's not the point." "I wonder how many of the so-called problem angels in rehab were really just hybrids," Daniel comments. Diana's face suddenly lights up. "That's how we can take down the Council!" she says, jumping to her feet. There is a wide grin on her face as she looks between us. My eyebrow quirks up. "Uh, I think we might need an explanation for that one," I say slowly, glancing over to see Daniel just as confused. "Hybrids are more powerful than normal angels, right? So, we break them out of rehab and have them help us take down the Council!" Daniel lets out an incredulous snort. "Are you insane? Do you remember how high security was there?" "Yes, but I have also seen the strength of your pack. Plus, Ana

What. "He's my uncle?" I shriek. The demon's eyes flare and its fanged grin turns menancing. "How else would he be as powerful as he is? Your family is among the strongest angels to walk this Earth my queen." I can hear the blood rushing through my veins. I've had family this whole time and he was responsible for all the torture and suffering I had endured. All of these years and he never said a word to stop any of it. He watched his neice beg for her freedom and laughed. "Get some rest my queen, we will watch over you." I know it was meant to be comforting, but it honestly made my skin crawl. I don't like the idea of someone watching me, especially not while I'm sleeping. "I appreciate the thought, but maybe don't actually watch me," I mumble when those bright red eyes are still staring at me a few minutes later. The demon laughs, blinking slowly before slinking away to the edge of the cave. The fire burning brightly at the center of the cave casts horrendous shadows onto the wal

  • Angel Academy   Chapter Forty

I swear I can feel my feathers freezing. My wings seem to grow stiffer with each passing minute, and the scarf wrapped around my nose and mouth does practically nothing to protect me from the harsh wind. Icy crystals blow into my face and cut at every inch of exposed skin. I can barely see anything through the flurry of snowflakes but hope flares in my chest at the sight of a vague shadow in the white cloud. As I get closer, I sigh in relief. The rock wouldn't be much warmer but at least it would give me a little shelter against the storm. I find a small overhang in the rock formation—well, I suppose it's closer to a mountain. It's significantly colder up here and it's slowly getting harder and harder to breathe. I can instantly feel the rise in temperature as I finally escape the wind, but the chill in my bones lingers. I close my fist then spread my fingers, relaxing when a small fire springs to life on the rocky floor. I don't know if it will continue burning once I fall asleep

His eyes search my face. “You want to kill him don’t you?” “Tell me where he is,” I growl. “He’s more powerful than you Luciana,” he says, shaking his head. My lip curls upward. Had he not been bound and shivering and covered in blood and tears, I might have been concerned by his words. “Tell me where to find Michael,” I demand. His head bows and he keels over, coughing violently. I wait for him to finish shaking; blood dribbles down his front and splatters onto the floor. “He lives in the mountains.” I crouch down, my gaze locked on him. “Tell me more.” I listen intently to every single word he says. He seems to grow more weary as he describes the Council Leader’s home: a prison-like structure deep in the mountains, far from danger, far from enemies. Guarded by hundreds of angels. Protected by magic. Surrounded by miles of icy mazes. It sounds like an evil fortress straight out of a fiction novel. I sit back on my heels. “Anything else?” I ask. He shakes his head and goes sil

I was harshly awoken by shouting and the screech of metal on metal. I jerked upright, scrambling off the cot when I heard the familiar jingle of keys outside the door.“Hands on the wall!”I bit my tongue, trudging over to plant my hands on the stone. I heard the door squeak open and it took all of my self control to remain still as the guard yanked my hands behind my back and shoved my face against the wall.“You try an’ pull another stunt like ya did last time and they won’ even bother givin’ ya a trial—they’ll throw ya righ’ in the Cage,” he spat, locking the heavy chains around my wrists. He hauled me out of the cell none too gently. He pulled me by my arm so roughly I stumbled repeatedly as we made our way through the prison. The whines and moans of the other prisoners pierced my ears, making me bow my head and squeeze my eyes shut in a desperate attempt to block them out.
