By the time Becca came out of her room, where she had gone to change into more presentable clothes, Ryan had gone, which was a relief. She felt sort of bad that she had treated him the way she had, but she had had to do it, because she had once been a fool where he was concerned, and she was afraid that it would be all too easy to become that dumb woman again. She couldn’t let that happen.

“Where are the girls?” She asked Sandra.

“They went to dress up.”
