Chapter 1323

Author: Marina Vittori
Everyone was stunned by Dustin's rapid-fire answer. He was too fast. So fast that they weren't able to react in time.

Their brains seemed to crash, and they lost any remaining competitive spirit they had left. What was supposed to be a competitive riddle contest became Dustin's one-man show.

Even Keanu broke out in a sweat as he watched Dustin's performance.

These riddles were drawn at random and varied widely. Even if Dustin were an expert in the subject, he shouldn't have been able to answer so quickly and accurately.

Regal Court had gone to great lengths to maintain confidentiality. If not for that, Keanu would have suspected Dustin of having access to the correct answers and memorizing them all.

"Here's the l-last riddle." Keanu gulped before reading from the card.

"A word, four letters, a puzzling feat. Read it forward, back, or flipped, so neat. In all directions, its meaning stays in sight. Left to right, it spells the same …"

"Noon," Dustin said casually.

"Rhys.""Mr. Rhys, congratulations on your win." Carrying the box containing Enchanting Elegance, Keanu walked respectfully toward Dustin. With a smile, he said, "Allow me to present you this priceless treasure, Enchanting Elegance, on behalf of Regal Court.""Let me inspect it first." Cody was the first to receive the box from Keanu. Upon opening it, his eyes lit up."What a precious item!" After confirming its authenticity, Cody finally noticed he was out of line. After all, Dustin was the one who earned the prize. If he kept it for himself without any explanation, he would undoubtedly be criticized for it.The best course of action was for Dustin to offer it up to him voluntarily. That way, he could accept it graciously and gain both the treasure and recognition. It would be the perfect plan!"Dustin, although I've long admired Enchanting Elegance, it is your rightful win. I won't take what belongs to you." Cody put on a pained expression as he spoke. While he was givi

"Y-You! What nonsense!" Harper exploded in anger."Am I wrong? If it wasn't for this handsome man, you'd have gone bankrupt. But here you are, bickering away. Are you really that dumb?"Lana folded her arms and pouted. She even gave Dustin a flirtatious look when she was done. "Right, handsome?" She drew out the word handsome, making it sound flirtatious. "Oh wow! So you two were a team!" Harper looked between them with a look of realization. "No wonder you two were so cozy with each other. It turns out that you've been colluding secretly!""Idiot." Lana rolled her eyes at her, having no words. How stupid could Harper get? She always spoke without thinking. "Let it go, Harper. Dustin was the one who won Enchanting Elegance. We have no right to meddle in what he decides to do with it. " Cody patted Harper on the shoulder.Despite maintaining a calm front, his gaze turned icy. This brat clearly couldn't read the room. Lana finally got to the point. "Handsome, you seem like a talented man. Why don't you be a follower of the Camron family?"Other than the Swansons and the Welches, no other family will dare touch you here in South City.""You aren't inviting me because you have your eyes on Enchanting Elegance too, are you?" Dustin probed. "Enchanting Elegance?" Lana smiled."Even though it's a treasure, I'm not short on wealth. It holds little value to me.""Oh? Then why are you helping me, Ms. Camron?" Dustin was intrigued. "Even though I'm not short on wealth, I'm short on men." Lana extended a finger and tapped Dustin's chest. She was practically glowing when she said, "You look thin but are surprisingly muscular. I didn't misjudge you after all. I wonder, would you be interested in being my 108th boyfriend?""Huh?" Dustin frowned and instinctively took two steps back. He thought she was after the painting, not him. That was something he didn't expect. What a flirt. Was she trying to g

Dustin quickly noticed a few hostile gazes upon leaving Regal Court. With a swift glance, he identified at least two groups of people that had their eyes on him. It seemed like Lana was right. Enchanting Elegance was a valuable treasure, and it attracted a lot of unwarranted trouble. Ordinary folks were not necessarily able to hold on to such a treasure even if they happened to get their hands on it. Luckily, Dustin was far from ordinary. "Since you have targeted me, let's see if you have what it takes to take it from me." Dustin snorted. Without a sound, he moved toward a secluded area. The two groups followed him discreetly from the left and right side. After about ten minutes of walking, Dustin turned into a deserted old alley."This is a great chance! Follow him!" More than a dozen black-clad men armed with knives rushed after Dustin into the old alley. But soon, they were in shock. And that was because they realized they were in a dead-end, and Dustin was nowhere to

This meant that the mastermind behind his assault didn't see him as a big threat. It could also mean that the person didn't hold considerable power. Dustin dusted off his clothes and put the box away. He was just about to leave when a few black SUVs pulled up at the opening of the old alley. The car doors flung open, and a group of muscular men dressed in fighting gear charged out. Every one of them was armed and surrounded Dustin as soon as they got out of the car, leaving him with no chance of escape. "Move aside!" At that moment, a burly man strolled confidently toward him with a cigar in his mouth. He had a scar on his face and an imposing presence. It was clear that he had bad intentions. "It's you?" Dustin narrowed his eyes slightly, recognizing the man.It was none other than Ziggy, who had caused trouble in Harmony Healers earlier that day. "Brat, we meet again!" Ziggy puffed on his cigar. With his bulging belly and hands on his hips, he was clad in a faux mink c

Seated by the window on the second floor of Regal Court, Lana swirled her wine glass. Her gaze was fixed on the tranquil night outside. The moon and stars were mirrored in her beautiful eyes. It made her appear exceptionally charming. "Ms. Camron." At that moment, a bodyguard dressed in a suit approached her. He whispered, "We had an incident earlier. The target you asked us to keep an eye on has disappeared.""Disappeared?"Lana raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?""The target is quite strong. He took down dozens of people with his bare fists. Then, he disappeared without a trace," the bodyguard replied with his head lowered."Oh? Doesn't that mean he's an excellent fighter?" Lana smiled, her expression betraying her growing interest in him."I thought he was just good-looking, but it seems like he's got some skills. Have someone investigate him and find out about his background. If he's on the right side, try to bring him over.""Understood!" the bodyguard replied and l

"Master Brooke, Dustin, we've found you." At that moment, Cody and Harper walked in through the door."Hmph! You're here to take advantage of us again!" Harper grimaced and shot Dustin a scornful look. She couldn't shake off the events from last night. Her resentment toward Dustin and his collusion with Lana was still fresh in her mind. "Dustin, I heard you were almost robbed last night. Are you alright?" Cody asked with a concerned look."Thank you for your concern, Mr. Ostrower. They were just a bunch of petty thieves. I didn't take them seriously," Dustin replied.Dustin suddenly changed the topic and asked, "By the way, Mr. Ostrower, how did you know I was almost robbed?""Huh?" Cody's expression froze, but he swiftly regained his composure."Oh, I have a well-informed network. In this part of South City, hardly anything can happen without me getting wind of it.""I see." Dustin chuckled with a knowing look.He had been wondering who might have taken an interest in Encha

Zion was seated by the window on the second floor of Goldcrest Lounge. He was sipping on his tea as he observed the bustling street below. Even with over ten occupied tables, Goldcrest Lounge felt rather solemn compared to its usual lively air. The patrons at each table seemed to be silently enjoying their tea. "Mr Swanson, that guy has arrived." Ziggy, who was standing behind Zion, suddenly pointed downward.Zion looked down and saw Dustin strolling through the crowd. He appeared calm and unruffled."Hmph! He actually came alone? How naïve!" Zion sneered. Then, he downed his tea in one gulp.Shortly afterward, heavy footsteps approached. Dustin had made his way upstairs without any difficulty. After scanning the room and spotting Zion and his group, Dustin promptly sat across from them."Mr. Swanson, we meet again." Dustin smiled and poured himself a cup of tea."Mr. Rhys, Ziggy told me you'd like to discuss business. What would you like to talk about?" Zion asked rather po

After hearing Nathaniel's words, Tristan's expression darkened. His brow furrowed as he sank into deep thought. It seemed he had underestimated the situation. He had assumed it was just a simple rivalry between brothers; he hadn't anticipated Seamus seizing the chance to further his own agenda.Seamus already wielded considerable influence. Under the guise of supporting Matthias' ascension to the throne, he had been forming alliances and recruiting talents. His influence had grown to rival the royal family's.If Seamus really supported Matthias' ascension, he'd overshadow the king, and no one would be able to stop him. The worst-case scenario would be Seamus using Matthias as a puppet to overthrow the House of Linsor."Nathaniel, is everything you said true?" Tristan frowned."Absolutely. Every word," Nathaniel replied solemnly. "Of course, if you don't believe me, you can send someone to investigate.""I believe you. But… taking down Seamus won't be easy. Do you have a plan?" Tr

An hour later, Nathaniel quietly entered a private mansion wearing a disguise.Inside the living room, Tristan had already prepared tea and refreshments. He looked as if he had been waiting for a long time."Sorry to have kept you waiting, Tristan." Nathaniel took off his coat and walked forward with a smile."No need to apologize. I'm happy that you made the effort to arrange this. A few extra minutes are nothing, especially since it's rare for us to meet." Tristan gestured for him to sit while he poured two cups of tea and handed one to his brother.Nathaniel accepted the cup and discreetly set it aside. Whenever he was out, he was always cautious about food and drink—this wariness had become second nature."You asked to meet me on short notice. Is this about official matters or something personal?" Tristan took a sip from his cup and got straight to the point."Both," Nathaniel replied, still smiling."Oh?" Tristan raised an eyebrow. "Let's hear it, then.""Given how things

In another luxurious mansion in the Inner City, a female spy dressed in black, cloaked in a hood, was reporting the results of her investigation to Nathaniel."Your Highness, the Moseys have been particularly active recently and are rallying allies. Many of the eight great families and other influential factions have already allied with them. If left unchecked, they'll pose a serious threat to us," she said, kneeling with her head lowered slightly."So the Moseys are backing Matthias, huh?" Nathaniel sat quietly, his expression unreadable."The Moseys have grand ambitions. While they claim to support Prince Matthias, they're merely setting him up as a puppet to rise to power and expand their own influence," she revealed. She had been infiltrating the Moseys' mansion for years and had gained a deep understanding of their operations, from the smallest details to the key players.Though Seamus appeared as a benevolent philanthropist, it was all a façade. That night, two young men sat playing chess inside a secluded mansion in the Inner City. On the left was Anders, who had visited the Ballard estate earlier. Across from him sat Matthias, a broad-shouldered man dressed in richly adorned robes. The game was intense, with fast moves followed by moments of deep thought. About ten minutes later, Anders finally conceded defeat."Anders, you've really improved since we last played. You almost had me there," Matthias said, stroking his beard in mild surprise."You flatter me, Your Highness. My chess skills are nothing compared to yours. If you hadn't gone easy on me, I wouldn't have lasted half as long," Anders replied with a modest smile."You're as smooth with words as ever." Matthias let out a hearty laugh with a look of smug satisfaction. Winning was in his nature—whether in war or on the chessboard, defeat was not an option."Well, we've eaten, and we've played. Let's get to business." With a wave of his hand, he signaled his men t

"Honestly, we shouldn't waste time debating who's better suited to be king. We just need to figure out who's most likely to take the throne," Jensen said matter-of-factly.As a businessman, he only cared about maximizing profit. To him, it didn't matter who sat on the throne but who had the best odds. He felt that backing that person would be the wisest choice."Who's most likely depends on who has the strongest backing," Jonathan said thoughtfully."Oh, right! I forgot to ask—who are the Moseys supporting?" Jovian asked, smacking his forehead. They'd been discussing this for so long but still hadn't figured out where the Moseys stood."My guess is Prince Nathaniel." Jensen narrowed his eyes as he analyzed the situation. "He's close to Anders. With his immense potential and the king's favor, the Moseys might see him as their best bet.""Anders' personal ties can't speak for the entire Mosey family," Jovian countered, shaking his head. "Family interests outweigh personal relationsh

Even without the king's involvement, the ambitious individuals would tear the Ballard family apart and leave nothing behind. If Simon chose the right side and it prevailed, his family could enjoy a century of stability and prosperity. But if he backed the wrong prince, everything could fall apart in a single night. At that moment, he didn't know what to choose. This was a critical decision—one mistake and the entire family could be ruined."Regarding this matter, I need to think it over carefully. I can't give you an answer just yet," Simon said. He knew the stakes were too high. A single misstep could lead to disaster, so he had to be cautious."I understand," Anders replied with a faint smile. "This isn't an easy decision. Still, I hope Your Lordship can decide soon.""Your Lordship, the forces seeking a marriage alliance with the Mosey family aren't limited to your family alone," Zack added coolly. "Don't think you can afford to wait for the highest bidder. Time is running out,

"In response to Your Lordship's question, this marriage alliance between our two families isn't my decision alone—it's also my godfather's and the entire Mosey family's," Anders said with a smile."According to the established rules, marriages between royal bloodlines are forbidden. Have you forgotten?" Simon replied coolly. "Sticking to outdated rules only holds us back," Anders said, shaking his head with a smile. He continued, "Right now, Dragonmarsh is going through a turbulent time—internally and externally. I've also heard the king's health is deteriorating. There are rumors he plans to name a successor and step down soon."With that, Oakvale will likely be in turmoil. When that happens, all the powerful families—the four ancient houses, the eight great families, and other factions—will be dragged into the chaos."That's why I'm hoping our families can form a marriage alliance to navigate the coming crisis together."Simon remained calm and said, "It's natural for the king

"Dad, what do you think?" Jonathan asked, turning to Simon."A guest has arrived, so we can't be rude. Invite them to the living room so we can discuss things properly," Simon replied calmly.Anders represented the Mosey family, and regardless of his intentions, Simon couldn't simply turn him away. As for the proposed marriage alliance, it was a matter that required thorough consideration."Understood," the butler replied promptly before leaving."Go on with your meal. I'm going to meet with Anders," Simon said, excusing himself from the table.Jonathan, Jensen, and Jovian exchanged glances and, without hesitation, followed their father. They were curious to see what the Mosey family had in mind."Alright, let them handle it. Let's focus on our meal," Gemma Letcher, Natasha's grandmother, said with a smile and signaled everyone to continue eating.…Three minutes later, in the Ballard family's living room, Simon sat at the head of the table near the entrance. After leaving Dash Corporation, Dustin and Natasha headed to the mall, where they picked out gifts for every member of the Ballard family. From the eldest to the youngest toddlers, no one was left out. Later, they stopped by an antique shop and chose a beautiful calligraphy painting as a special gift for Simon.By evening, Dustin had everything ready for his first visit to the Ballard estate, located in the heart of Oakvale's city center. The estate was a sprawling courtyard mansion built on a large plot of land.Simon, the Duke of Lachshire, had three sons and a daughter. His eldest son, Jonathan Ballard, was a third-ranked official in the government.
