JASON
I adjusted my suit jacket and my tie, waiting patiently for Elena. I didn’t know what had finally convinced her, but it was way past 9:00pm, when she had called me, and I had wasted no time booking us a table at a restaurant, close to where she lived. I had chosen that exact place so she wouldn’t have an excuse not to come. But I was damn nervous as hell. And that was just saying the least. The past hours had been so stressful for me, with me making a lot of arrangements. If by any chance, Elena agreed to my terms, I would have to rearrange my whole life to fit in what I suspected was very much my present.I was still just staring at the door blankly, when I spotted her.Gosh..Why did she have to take my breath away, just by looking at her.The woman was just…beautiful..And I wasn’t talking about ordinary beauty. She glowed. Literally. As she sighted me and started to make her way towards me, I watched as her hips swayed in accordance with her step. How was she walking like she was on a damn runway? The emerald green dress she was wearing hugged her and wrapped her like it was attatched to her body.Something stirred inside of me, and I had to sit up and clear my throat to call myself to order. After all, there was the possibility that she was my father’s mistress, hence all these in the first place.“Good evening, Mr. Richardson.” She said, in a low voice once she was standing close to the table.I nodded, and stood up, gesturing for her to sit, before I sat back.I knew I was supposed to do the gentlemanly thing and pull the chair out for her, but in the state I was, that was impossible. There was no way I was going close to her. I didn’t want to do something embarrassing.“Good evening, Elena.” I said, ditching the formalities. There was absolutely no need to be formal now since she was on my father’s damn will! She narrowed her eyes at me, but didn’t comment.I raised a hand and signaled to the waiter, who immediately hurried to our table.“Would you like to eat something?” I whispered, before the waiter reached us.Elena shook her head, staring pointedly at the menu that lay on the table. “Just a small dessert would do. Although I don’t know what to choose, everything looks good.” It sounded like she was murmuring too herself more than she was talking to me, because there was a lightness to her expression that wasn’t there before.I narrowed my eyes at her and watched as she excitedly skimmed the menu. Something about the way her face lit up, was adorable.Uhh…shit..I wasn’t calling my father’s mistress ‘adorable’ now was I?I cleared my throat and pointed to a line in the menu. “We would have this.” I said, and just turned away when the waiter left, and Elena looked at me with annoyance.I had just committed the very first ‘don’t’ when it came to women. ‘Never order food for her unless she tells you to’.ELENAI couldn’t even enjoy my dessert, as I was annoyed throughout.
He had known that I was yet to decide, and he had gone ahead and ordered me a slice of chocolate cake.I mean, it was the most delicious slice of cake I had ever had, but I didn’t care. I was already annoyed, so after a couple of bites, I pushed it aside.Jason just stared at it, then at me, before concentrating on his, and ordering us a bottle of wine.It was when the waiter cleared the plates that he finally spoke.“I need to hear your terms.” He said, going straight to the point.I frowned, confused. “Terms of what? I have no terms.” I answered, leaning back in my seat.Jason mimicked my expression. “I don’t understand. You are the one with the upper hand here. You should have something you want out of all of this, or at least some conditions.” He said, and I finally understood what he meant.“Oh…I uhh, have no issue at all. The only condition I have is that during our marriage, we would just keep to ourselves and do our own thing, pretty much the whole time.” It was quite weird saying it. But it was going to be weirder if we didn’t talk about it.I finally had the opportunity to be with my crush of two years, for five whole years, and it was going to be platonic.Hah!Talk about being unlucky.I had given this a lot of thought throughout the whole day, even leaving the office early to get some air away from there. And when I had calmed down, and also gotten a call from the Richardsons’ lawyer, I had been forced to put down my defense and actually consider.Even if I felt uncomfortable as hell, I was going to do it.What I didn’t expect from Jason was a shake of his head. “Oh, I don’t think we can actually keep to ourselves, at least not outside.” He said and shrugged. My frown deepened. “What do you mean? Isn’t this just a small agreement on paper, that we will be free of in 5 years?”Jason let out a laugh that actually sounded so…good. It was like the sound was going straight to my chest and tugging at something there.I blinked and tried to remove the thought from my mind. The last thing i wanted was to begin drooling in front of Jason. And I was very close."Oh, you don't really know who Paul Richardson is, do you?" he asked with a voice that had a bitter edge to it.
I frowned in confusion, about to ask what he meant, when he reached for something on the chair beside him, and placed it on the table, right in front of me.
I looked at the file skeptically, then at him. "what is this?" i asked, and flipped it open. Jason didn't need to answer me, because, right there on the very first page, were words that made my head spin.
What had I gotten myself into?
ELENA I read the words written there over and over again, to make sure I wasn't dreaming or in some kind of a movie. Things like these only happened in movies, and books, not in my reality.I looked up at Jason, appalled."Why do we need to sign a contract?" I asked, knowing fully well that I sounded out of sorts and ridiculous.I knew there would be an agreement, but not a full contract that looked to be at least ten pages long.Jason shook his head, looking at me with irritation. "Well that's what you get for involving yourself with my father. Now read and sign, so we could get past this stage." He hissed, sounding like he was calm. But I could hear the malice and accusations in his voice.I swallowed and started to read.I was doing this just so my conscience would be clear, and nothing else. At least that was what I was telling myself. But deep down, there was something.... something that yearned for..Oh no...don't go there Elena!I scolded myself. 1. You must live together, in
ELENAI had taken a damn cab to this place!I hissed as I picked up the file and my purse and started to make my way out of the restaurant, feeling a annoyed as hell.Jason had suddenly switched up on me like I was part of his problem.Well, I was, in a way..But still..I didn't like the fact that he had just left like that, catching me off guard. He even sounded pissed at me. What was my sin now?If only I had kept my mouth shut. One minute, we were talking about celibacy, and the next minute, he was running out of the room like his pants were on fire."Damn you, Paul." I hissed under my breath. If not for the situation my boss out me in, I was sure I would be on my bed, laying down comfortably and not having to worry about something as ridiculous as this.I stood at the entrance and looked at my phone, checking the time. 11.04pm. shit! It was really late.I placed the phone back in my purse, ready to wave down a can I saw making its way towards me, when a car just drove and stopp
JASONThe sight I met when I got to my hotel room was definitely one that I didn't need, or expect in the first place. The scent hit me, as soon as I opened the damn door of the hotel room. I knew that scent, and it belonged to only one person. And that was because she had made that crazy perfume with her own hands. There, on my couch in the suite, lay the last woman I wanted to see at the moment.Bethany.And as soon as I shut the door, she awakened from the little nap she was taking, tuning to stare at me directly. "Hello...Jason." she drawled, flashing me her signature smile. One that would have made me smile back in a normal day. But nothing has been normal since today, so I just narrowed my eyes at her."What are you doing here? And how did you get in?" I asked, not even feeling the least bit remorseful at the tone I was using on her.I had planned to have a long shower, and just jump into the bed, naked, and wrapped in the soft duvet in my bed. I definitely hadn't been planning
JASONThe moment my lips touched hers, I was flooded with different sensations…Good sensations..How her lips could be so soft that they literally melted under my ministrations, was beyond me. But I was enjoying it, because once she whimpered, I slipped my free hand around her waist, drawing her closer to me so I could feel her pressed against my body. I almost hissed when her soft breasts met my chest, causing what I could only describe as electricity to shoot from that area, down to my groin.I growled into her mouth, using my tongue to seek entrance into her hot mouth. Once she opened for me, I could feel my kind go blank. Almost. The only thoughts I had, were of her. How seeet she tasted, how soft she felt, how good she smelled…I was kissing her.It was something I had been wanting to do from the moment I laid my eyes on her in that office. She had looked so innocent, and invitingly so..I bit down on her lower lip, and got a satisfying purr, which vibrated against my tongue as
JASON“Don’t you think you are going too far with this?“Tyler, who was currently sitting with me in the boardroom, asked. “You told me yourself that you have no proof of her involvement with dad, except your instincts. Besides, she has agreed to marry you, instead of running off with everything. What more do you want?” The tone of his voice told me that he was on the verge of yelling at me, but was just holding back.I didn’t care though. Instead, I huffed and continued playing with the pen in my hands. “I have made up my mind, Tyler. I’m not going to waste five years of my life with her, when there is a fucking solution to end it way sooner than that.” I retorted.I wasn’t going to admit it, but I had been boiling with added anger, ever since that episode in her office. It had strengthened my resolution and put me back on track with the matter at hand.Tyler shook his head. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you. It’s not her fault that our father could not make a better judgement, and willed
ELENA "Are got going to tell me what is going on now?" Jane, who sat opposite me in the cafe asked, giving me a concerned look.We had decided to go to our favourite cafe for lunch, instead of a restaurant. We usually came here twice a week, to satisfy our sugar cravings, and I was craving some sugar. After all, I felt really down.I sighed and shook my head. Why shouldn't I be? It's not like anything was real between us in the first place, but I couldn't help the jealousy I felt. I had no right to. But I felt it, and there was nothing I could do about it."I'm okay." I answered, lying through my teeth as I brought the cup of smoothie to closer, taking a sip through the very pink straw. I loved smoothies, but as the pineapple and strawberry goodness passed my tongue and down my throat, I could have as well been drinking water. Couldn't he at least hide it? Who was going to believe us and our facade, when they saw him with someone else?"Well, I guess it's about time you tell me what
JASONI was glad that I had finally gotten rid of Bethany. Not that I had anything against her....but at the rate she was going, it was beginning to piss me off. After we had been left alone, she had tried to get me to make love to her in my father's office! Where at any moment, anybody would have walked in on us, and I didn't even want to think about how the words would have spread like a wild fire. That wasn't how I wanted to begin my time here.Although, on a normal day, and in my own office, I would have given in, especially when she made that purring sound I liked. But she had done that. And to my surprise, I hadn't reacted at all.I had just blamed the stress and finally kissed her, just so she wouldn't feel hurt. It had to be the stress. And the sooner I was settled, the sooner I was going to relieve myself of all the pent up tension I had going down there.I quickly checked my wristwatch and seeing I had five minutes before the meeting, I got up and made my way to the boardro
ELENAThe woman staring back at me from the mirror almost made me cry.For the first time since I had gone to the office to recieve the news that I either had to choose between being an asshole that would take what I didn't deserve, and sacrificing five years just to clear my conscience, I felt my eyes start to water. The past five days had to have been the most difficult days of my life yet, as I had literally passed through a whole phase in such a short time.I had been forced to realize that the life I had chosen for myself was going to be different from the one I was now going to have.Marriage.It wasn't something that had been on my agenda, even in the next five years. I had made a lot of plans on how to live my carefree single life to the highest. Now though, I was going to waste all of it, fulfilling a contract that was supposed to have absolutely nothing to do with me.I turned to the side, admiring the way the dress hugged my small round bottom. I smiled. I wasn't a very cur
ELENAI smiled as I looked at my self in the mirror. It had been exactly two weeks since the incident with Colton, and we had resolved a lot of issues.Jason had come to confess to me about what he had hired Colton to do, and the truth was, even if I had been hurt hearing it from him, I had actually known about it. The night before that day, I had been having a very serious headache and had been on my way to the bedroom when I had heard him and Tyler argue about it.But I had also heard him say that he hadn’t gone through with it and had only kept Colton there.I had forgiven him then, because I couldn’t blame him. It wasn’t easy losing your father and then hearing that he had given everything he had to his assistant.Jason had even confessed that he hat thought that I was his father’s mistress and had cast it out of his kind the night we had made love for the first time.It had been a long discussion, but had actually settled a lot of things. And there was something Colton had said t
JASONI didn’t want to believe what Lucinda was saying, but with everything that had been happening for the past few days, I couldn’t not believe her. I would be a fool to give Colton the benefit of a doubt.I had taken care of that man right from the time I had seen him looking all tattered and unkempt. And all that had been a ploy to extract money from me?Well now that he had taken the millions I gave him and the one that he had stolen from Elena. Why couldn’t he just let my family be?“And did he tell you why he was doing all of this to me and my family? Did he tell you why he tried to kill us?” I asked in a raised voice that sent Lucinda cowering away, and hiding her face behind the curtain of her straight blond hair.I had always known there was something off about her. The way she behaved. The way she spoke. The way she kept mostly to herself as if the whole world was against her or something. You had always known.I just hadn’t expected this.“No. I swear he didn’t. Most of th
ELENAI didn’t have to stare at the picture for very long before I realized who it was. Even if I had seen his face only once, I could recognize him from anywhere. The eyes were a dead giveaway.Such dead eyes. Menacing eyes that looked like they had no soul.I could remember the first and only time I had seen his picture and had literally been scared of it the moment I set my eyes on him.It had to be him.“What do you mean by knowing who this man is?” It was Tyler who was asking and I turned to look at him.“Tyler, where is Lucinda?” I asked, lifting myself off Jason’s lap.The both of them looked at me in confusion as I went in search for Lucinda.“She just left. What does that have to do with anything?” Jason, who had gone completely silent, finally spoke, in a cool voice.I looked from Jason to Tyler and sighed, leaning on the kitchen counter as I recalled what had happened the day I had seen that face.“I am telling you, that that man in that picture, is Lucinda’s boyfriend. So
COLTONMy stomach hurt.I couldn’t breathe.I had been running for hours and hours as the police chased after me, showing up at every spot I tried to hide. How had this happened?I had planned everything. It had taken me weeks to do so, but I had put everything in place for the big day. Including all those distractions at Elena’s parents home, and the prank with the him.I had done everything to make sure things went according to plan. But Craig had spooked everything when he had gone inside and probably alerted the police and Jason about what was going on.This was not the first time I had gone to that bank to make a huge transaction. And it was a the fifth time either. But that idiot had chosen to make a big deal out of it. And I wasn’t going to forgive him for what he had done.By the time I was done with Jason and Elena, then i would go to Craig.Deep down though, I knew it was all because of that idiot. He had already made Craig’s transfer that huge sum to his Swiss account. And
JASON“Are you trying to tell me that Colton is involved in this sham too? Because I find that very hard to believe.” Tyler, who was usually reasonable in situation like these, looked like he was about to lose it. And I didn’t blame him. I found it hard to believe too.It was crazy as fuck just thinking about it. In fact, I just wanted to go home and rest already. We had closed all activities today as the police went in search of Colton. He had escaped as soon as Craig had gone into that room to make that call.Probably had panicked when Craig spent a little over a few minutes in his bid to reach me.“I’m as confused as you are, Tyler.” I said, as the guilt that always ate me up began to resurface again. We were currently on our way home as we had closed really early and had decided to head home and wait for any news on the police chase that was going on right as we spoke.“Do you know if he had any kind of animosity towards you are something?” Jane asked from the seat opposite us. S
ELENAI couldn’t even believe what was going on as I looked from one brother to the next. What were the odds?I knew it definitely wasn’t a coincidence that the same to y Richardson was the one who had rendered my family broke beyond repair, and had run off with my fathers vast wealth, to go do whatever he liked with it. That was as far as I knew at the moment. My father had claimed that he had known nothing about his were abouts, until his death in that plane crash. “Something doesn’t just feel right about all of this.” Tyler said, looking from me, to Jason, who had gone really quiet ever since he had told me that Tony was his uncle.I cleared my throat and looked at them. “I mean, I’m not trying to say anything to worsen the situation or make anyone suspicious of anyone. But do you think the three of them knew each other?” I asked, staring pointedly at Jason. His frown had been increasing by the minute.“I don’t know, because the only person alive out of the three men, is Thomas.
JASON“What are you talking about?” I asked Jane, dropping the file that I had picked up, babk in its place in the shelf.I made my way over to the computer with a huge frown on my face. What the heck did she mean by me having Elena’s father’s enemy’s picture in her phone?“This man right here.” Jane said, as soon as I reached and saw what she was talking about. But I was in for a shocker, and not just because of who she was pointing to, but what she had referred to him as. “But that’s my uncle.” I said, shaking my head. It was the picture I had taken at Elena’s fathers house with my phone. And since most of the things save in my phone went straight to my email, it automatically showed in my computer which had my email in it.And the picture was one of those things.Jane looked at me like I was mad. “No. I can recognize Tony Richardson anywhere_ “ she paused and looked from me to the picture. “Wait a minute. You are Richardson. And he is Richardson.” Her finger pointed from the me to
JASONI sat in the office with Jane, trying to work on a little problem we were having with two of our plants. For some reason, while Colton had been working as my assistant, he had failed to realize that those particular plants was scheduled for maintenance and would take exactly two days before it could be in use again. And also, he had also omitted that detail when he had been maki g some entries on the particular time we were to make some deliveries. And now, since it was just me, Jane had offered to help me, while Elena was in a meeting. Which I was thankful for, because it was already taking a toll on me. I hated not delivering when I was supposed to.“Do we have any other option? Because at this moment, I think we have run out of every option we have.” I said tiredly. We ventured into a lot of businesses, and while this particular issue wasn’t going to make us actually loose much, but it would affect the other party badly. And I didn’t want that.My father had brought me up in
ELENAI didn’t know what I was doing. All I knew was, I had to have my husband inside of me. I was honey as fuck, and I wasn’t sure that was the way it was supposed to be after the long conversation we had just had, but I guess that’s the situation I found myself.I had acted out on impulse a few minutes ago, telling him everything that had happened with Colton. I had known him hen that if I hadn’t done it that time, I wasn’t going to ever have the courage to do it again. And I could hear Jane’s voice egging me on as I started to speak. Even when I wanted to stop.I had seen Jason’s face show signs of jealousy and anger, but he had managed to sit through all of it, until I was done. And where I had expected anger, or at least, an indication that he was not happy with me, after I was done talking, I had been super when he had taken my hands in his like he had done, and told me what he did.“Don’t start what you can’t finish, Elena Richardson,” Jason said, clearing his throat. The hand
