Lucas’ POVGunner and I proceeded to move to the sitting room and that was when we heard the voices. Giving Gunner a small nod, we crouched down and hid behind one of the large couches as we looked around the room and that was when I saw her.Lyra was a friend of Rae’s. Rae’s POVI saw Laila pull out the gun but I was too weak to move my limbs or to shout. All I could do was close my eyes and wait for the cold hands of death to envelop me. Gunner’s POVI watched Rae’s interaction with my father from a few yards out. Their conversation was genuine and they spoke their hearts out like there was no one else in the room or they didn’t care about the people in the room. I could see the way Rae looked at my father and I knew that would never be me. Not in a million years. Whatever animosity she had for him earlier had all but faded.
