England (Deadre)
In a medium sized room with pink walls, a queen sized bed, a large plasma TV, a wardrobe and other furnitures too numerous to mention, there stood Deardre in the middle of the room pacing back and forth.
She had her hair styled into two loose ponytails. Her lips were chap and her face was pale from worrying and thinking too much. Ever since she was a little girl, she'd been attached to her parents. They'd never let her out of their sight except she was to go to vacation camps, prom night, holidays at a family members place, sleep overs at Martina's house and so on. So much changed after she turned twenty and since then the only thing that changed much was the fact that she got pregnant and her parents weren't by her side. It made her feel sick and sad that she kept on pacing about, trying to come to a decision if she wanted to speak with them or not since it's been a week since she contacted them. After that day at the hospital where her parents literally left her stranded, Deardre had being home sick.
Finally, she made up her mind and decided to call her mom. Her mom was an easy person to talk to unlike her dad. She had gotten her height, slender legs and hair from her mom while she took that of her father's blue eyes, thin lips and hooked nose.
Deardre didn't need a soothsayer to tell her that she looked like the feminine copy of her father and it was something she wasn't willing to deny too. After all, her father's blood runs through her veins. The two things she wished not to exhibit from him was his short height and his rigid heart. It was the opposite of her mom's ever soft loving heart.
Her mother's line ringed till it stopped. She dialed it again and again, yet her mother didn't receive the call. She sighed, flung her phone on the bed she shares with Martina and stood up. She walked up to the mirror facing the bed and stared at her reflection. She was beginning to see noticeable signs that her pregnancy was well on the way. Her bloated pale face, her swollen legs, heavy nails and slightly protruding stomach were enough signs for one to know that she was expecting a child.
Deardre's cheeks strained into a smile as she thought of her holding her baby. She couldn't wait to hear the baby's cry but even that, she had few months more to go. She couldn't wait for months to pass by so she'd feel the warmth of her baby's small hand holding her thumb. There were lots of things she couldn't wait for when it concerned the little creature in her womb and another was she couldn't wait to see the baby's smile.
"I know I keep saying this, but you're going to be beautiful or handsome just like your parents," she said while patting her little protruding tummy gently, "And don't you worry. Daddy might've left but mommy will be by your side no matter what."
Going back to the bed to sit, Deadre dialled her mother's line again and even sent her a couple of messages apologizing for not being the perfect daughter they ever wanted but she wanted them to know that she was still who they raised and didn't deserve to be avoided just because of a slight misunderstanding.
'I can't get rid of little Jordan or little Deardre that's in my womb because this baby is a part of me. If you love me like you have always claimed, you'll accept this baby for my sake and for the sake of the love you have for me please... This is the time I need your love and support the most.' She texted her father and forwarded the text to her mom.
Few minutes past, and there was no reply from them. Feeling angry and emotional that her parents could abandon her this way, Deadre's eyes began to well up with tears.
Sobbing silently and muttering to herself, she was oblivious to the fact that her friend Martina was already back and was standing at the door staring at her with pity.
"What's the matter love?" Martina asked as she moved to sit on the bed with Deardre.
They've been best friends since high school. Deadre had always confided in Martina, the nerdy teenage girl she had met in grade 3 and ever since then they became so tight that no bond could break them.
Martina was a twenty-five year old nurse who was a black American lady of average height, full lips, curly hair and natural curvy figure. A beautiful lady and trusting friend, Deadre always confided in her and it did not come off as a surprise when she wholeheartedly accepted Deadre to come live with her for the time being even if she owned just a room and they had to share a bed. Martina was everything anyone could ask for.
"I'm tired!" exclaimed Deadre, flinging her hands up and down to express and indicate how tired she was.
"What? Tired of what exactly?" Martina creased her brow.
"Of everything, Mattie. My parents don't speak my call. They still mad that I don't call them and it just makes me feel abandoned." Deardre explained.
"Don't say a thing like that babe, you know you have to be strong for yourself and your baby," said Martina as she bent down to take off her work heels as her feets were already aching. She would get her foot massaged later in the day. Right now, her friend needed someone to talk to and she was avalaible for just that.
"You wouldn't know the half of it," Deaadre lamented as she continued "My parents don't answer my calls, I'm jobless, homeless and lonely. I can't even begin to fathom how my parents could do this to me," She wailed as fresh tears began pouring out of her eyes.
Martina who was already undressing and had already put on a pair of jumpsuit stood by her wardrobe and looked at her friend, "Dee, all will be well. Your parents love you and I'm sure they haven't abandoned you. They can't do that to their only child yunno especially not when you're in this condition. They might be in a difficult situation as you, trying to come to the terms that their daughter is pregnant out of wedlock, she's not married and the guy responsible for it is no where to be found. So don't panic, just give them time, and stop this talk about you being alone. You know, I'm always here for you, okay love."
Deadre sniffed and reached out to pick a pair of face wipes from her bedside. She wiped her face, dropped the used wipe on the floor and then drew Martina closer to her. They hugged and stayed like that. Martina kept drawing circles on Deardre's back hoping it would assure her that she was here for her.
They didn't know how long they'd been in that hugging position until they were distracted by Deardre's phone ringing.
Deardre checked whom the dialer was, behold it was her mother returning her calls. She gave Martina a look as if to ask permission before receiving the dialer. Martina gave a curt nod urging her to and she did.
"H-hello?" Deardre's voice quivered.
Instead of her mother's voice to come from the other end, she heard that of her father's, "Come home, my love. I have missed you."
Delta state, Nigeria (Cookie)"Ouch.""Sorry, my child.""It hurts, ouch.""I know, you just have to endure." Mrs. Oyin advices her, using the warm towel to gently wipe the welts on Cookie's arm. Delta state, Nigeria (Cookie)"Have you come here to insult me?!" Mr. Oyin queried with rage. He wasn't willing to listen to anyone speak to him about his decisions."No. We are only saying that the girl is too young to get married now." Mrs. Ken, Louisa's mother said. Her hands were placed on Mrs. Oyin's shoulder. Every now and then she would give Mrs. Oyin a consoling pat, who would just nod her head but still did not stop to cry. The way she cries easily is what Cookie took after her."The Hausa's gives out their kids for marriage, including those who are just ten years old, so why can't an eighteen year old get married? How is she too young for marriage?" Cookie's father asked, "Rubbish!" He cursed.

She had with her the little money her parents gave her before they travelled and she didn't mind spending it on her best friend. The only thing that bothered her a few times was long were they going to continue this? How long was Cookie going to keep hiding? Louisa kept asking herself but got no answer. She took some money and decided to go to the market and buy some groceries.Whe
Delta state, Nigeria (Cookie)Cookie's eyes flicked open the next day. She jolted when she became aware of her surroundings. She was sitting on a medium sized bed. She didn't know how she got there but she was sure the person who had carried her there was nice because they covered her with a thick blanket.Looking around, she saw that she was in a small room with cream walls and titled floor. There was a brown wardrobe at one end, a chair and a table that looked like it was used for study at the corner of the room. There was also a flat screen television pinned to the wall, a white bulb stood in the middle of the ceiling shinning brightly almost blinding her vision at first when she looked at it. She squinted her eyes then heard the room door open

"prepare yourself for this chapter."****I woke up with a slight headache the next day. I sat up on my portable bed while massaging my temple and squinted my eyes cause of the lights coming from the lights.Nepa keeps the light steady these days.. Maybe a popular politician is in town unless the lights would have been disco instead. On and off.I sighed and then looked around my room, suddenly remembering that the last place I was was in my living room. Funny thing I can't remember exactly what happened. Maybe it was because of the headache I was having that was giving me a hard time to think. How did I get to my room?I collected my phone from my nightstand, turned it on to see that Deardre had sent me a text which reads;I know that you are angry and you have every reasons
Fabby's POV:"Fabby..? We need to talk."It was Dominique, my childhood best friend."am not ready-""I heard everything." she cuts me short.I spun around to face her. "what?""I did." she repeated. "Cookie didn't do it. Amanda did."I couldn't piece up what she had just told me. How can Amanda put a dead rat in her own plate and accuse Cookie for it?Who does that? Or should I say, why will she do that?"I don't get you.""believe it or not Fabby.. This morning when I was getting ready for the wedding.. I saw Amanda standing close to the kitchen, whispering something and handing a black bag to her maid, Amaka. I became suspicious so when Amanda left and the maid entered the kitchen, I tiptoed quietly so she doesn't see me.I peeped through the door to see what she was doing.. It was

She was yet to be found.Everyone was sad. We all had a hint about who must've have plot everything but we had no evidence. All I do was cry. When I think that something bad must've happened to her, I can't help but cry. She was suppose to be here tonight. She promised to do my makeup, she's suppose to dress me up for the day, she's suppose to celebrate the day with me.I want to see her beautiful smile congratulate me tomorrow and wish me well. She was the reason why I came
Hey! Just wanted to say I love y'all readers. ❤***********I wore my one arm knee length Ankara gown, a flat shoe to match, tied up my brown extension hair into a bun, wore my glasses, my earrings, necklace, bangle and then a touch of lipstick on my lip.Nothing too much cause we were only going to Mrs. Okonkwo's to buy some beads just like the King had said.I touched my necklace, looking at my reflection on the mirror whilst admiring how beautiful I look. These are one of the days I just can't help but admire my own self. Self love is indeed the best love.I smiled broadly then a tap came to my door, starting me a bit. "who's that?""are you giving birth inside?" Tolu's voice told me."on my way."I imagined her rolling her eyes now when she said. "that's what you said like five minutes ago.
We all sat down at the large sitting room, listening to the king as he lists out some few things that needed to be done at the traditional wedding."father, don't you think it would be better if we buy clothes from the city?" Jordan questioned, same thing on my mind."no. That should be for the white wedding-" he turned to Deardre. "are you okay now?"She gave a nod but still replied with a shy smile. "yes my king.""good. I want you to resume cooking for me. You know how much I like eating your food." the king said with a wide grin on his face. She looked down, her blonde hair fell, covering the sides of her face giving that we don't see the pink shades that must've have appeared on her cheeks already. She was blushing."thank you."He then turned to me and my eyes widened a little. "you taught her well, God bless you for that. You will sure be a good wif
Something soft hit my head but I continued sleeping, then a nip on my skin followed by slaps on my poor leg but I just couldn't open my eyes, they were heavy with sleep. Then the unexpected happened, a pair of hands dragged my legs downwards, I struggled to stay on the bed as I gripped the sheets but it seems like my efforts was not enough because the next thing is i fell face flat on the floor."Ooowwwn!" I rubbed my nose, if I was white, my nose would have bled."Why did you do that?" I asked once I saw the annoying piece of shit.
"You can't get married to a white woman!" King Obi repeated in a much louder and angry voice. We all freezed in shock and fear that I think I was no longer breathing. I felt Deardre was about to cry so I gave her hand a little squeeze to encourage her."papa like I said, she is my choice and we have a son already." Prince Chinonso said in a more apologetic voice, like he was trying not to get offended by his parents reaction when he told them he wanted to get married to Deardre. We had arrived at the village an hour ago, we enjoyed the ride here. The village smelt of mostly cassava, it was Sandy and quite bushy with alot of kids singing and playing around. The palace was beautiful and big, more like everything I was expecting it to look like but I wasn't expecting King Obi to react this way.I was expecting Queen Obi or princess Amanda to react this way but not him."have
