Meanwhile, Raymond and Alfie stared at each other. Then they turned their backs on each other, clasping their hands under their chests.
"What's the matter with them, why are they acting like children? I think I'm an object to be fought over." Amelie continued to curse as she walked, occasionally looking behind her.
When she got home, Amelie went straight to her room and lay down on the comfortable mattress, falling asleep for a while. Suddenly she woke up, remembering Raymond's words.
"Am I crazy to accept this arrangement? I never asked Mrs. Reid to send me to school anyway."
Amelie regretted accepting Raymond's offer. But she wouldn't be able to escape, because right now Raymond was outside her room, ready to knock on her door with a letter in his hand.
