Kai - POV

"Beta Vaz, I was counting, and there is one missing box in the inventory," I told Beta Vaz, who glanced at me, then surveyed the surrounding boxes as though he could count them by sight. I'd used my magic to vanish one box.

"Why are you standing here? Where did the box go?" Vaz demanded, his voice ominous and his eyes glowing with an eerie light.

"I was awaiting your arrival, Beta, to inform you that the missing box appears to have been left at the storage house," I assured him. My words seemed to quell his suspicions; his intense gaze softened. He checked the inventory file, nodded his approval, and dismissed me. Feeling relief wash over me, I exited the Manor. Outside, I noticed Francis besieged by pack members and an elder questioning him. Surprisingly, he responded calmly, not inciting the pack members or elders.
