Nate couldn’t keep his mind off that omega for some reason. The way she walked out and didn’t bother to give him any attention really hit him. It never happened him. He’s a star football player! People worship the ground he walked. How can she not bother to talk with him? Also he offered her his drink shouldn’t that appease her? The other girl would be swooning by now and making cutesy Instagram posts.
When she didn’t stop in the hallways for him or smiled during the classes he had no option left but to talk with Ashton. He was her closest friend after all.
“Hey man!” Nate patted on his shoulder, tugging him down on the far end of the cafeteria.
Ashton winced, “Nate”
“It’s been long time”
The quarter back scoffed. “Oh you mean since yesterday evening when we were on the ground together for four hours”
The hellhound winced at that. He should have not started with that. Schooling his features the Alpha casually leaned forward. “So what’s the deal with your friend?”Ashton wrinkled his brows. “Are you here about Allie?”
Ashton and Nate have known each other for almost four years now. Even though they started training for the football under same coach and are in the same team they weren’t exactly friends. Simply because Ashton was goody two shoes who didn’t approve of frat culture and partying after every match. That’s why the Alpha never really had a connection with him.“Ah you know me so well”
Ashton let out a sigh. “Forget it. I am not telling you anything, Nate”
“But why?! I just want to make it right”
The quarter back rubbed his face, “You don’t understand. She’s my friend and...you’re you”“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Nothing. Forget I said anything” Ashton took a sip of his coffee, avoiding his eyes.
Nate bit back his growl. He wanted to bang the table or his head against the table really. Why couldn’t he be like others and give him whatever he wanted? This is why they are not friends.
“Look I just need to make it right”“Why is that?”
“Because I feel guilty!” Nate yelled at the top of his voice, his vein prominent in his forehead. That did the trick. “I need to make it up or else I won’t stop feeling this way.”Ashton opened and closed his mouth, suddenly at loss of words. “Oh” he breathed. “I didn’t know. Fine what do you want to know?”Nate grinned. He was so easy. Only if he didn’t have deep rooted passion for football he would have totally become an actor. That’s what most of them said to him anyway. No wonder they are right.***As he was on his way to the field, Nate spotted Allie in the cafeteria. Only that the omega was behind the counter. What was she doing there? Whatever he had another opportunity to talk to her. After all he missed her on the track. Biting back his grin, he walked in.“Hi,” Allie greeted, no real cheer in her voice. Her hands were gliding across the screen in front of her. “What can I get started for you? The menu on the left side is not available right now”
Nate gave her his best sly, playful grin. “Did anyone tell you that you look sexy in green? It’s totally your colour”
She blinked at him, her face blank. “What drink can I get started for you?
“I didn’t know you work here”The omega sighed. “I don’t. I’m covering for Rachel”“Oh right. Your roommate. How is she?”Allie gritted her teeth, her lips pursed as she stared at him. “May I help you with your order? Please”“I feel like we got off on the wrong foot.” He held his hand out. “I’m Nate. You’ve heard of me, I’m sure”“You’re holding up the line, Nate. Place your order or please move away.” Allie smiled, extra cheerful. There was a gleam in her eyes that he had never seen before. “Unless...” Her eyes darted around the area. “You’ve never been inside a university cafeteria before?”
The Alpha couldn’t help but chuckle, leaning his hip against the counter. “You’re funny. I like that. It’s hot.”“And we are done here” Allie motioned towards the other guy taking the order and swapped positions with him. It was worth a try.***“What is the deal with you and that runner chick?”Ben asked as soon as they exited the locker rooms an hour later, after refreshing showers and time to cool down. He was another of the player on the team. A liner back. Most of the times they don’t see things eye to eye. The Alpha could easily tell that the question had been burning on his tongue for ages. After all Ben loved to keep up with his life. “Like, the whole team noticed your little spat in the cafeteria today”
“Did they now?”“Yes they did”Nate sighed. “She hates me and I don't know why. I haven't done anything wrong.”Chris, his best friend snorted while trying to stuff his socks in the bag. “Really?”“Okay fine I may crossed a line with that comment but in my defence I didn’t know. And I tried to apologise”Ben made a sound. “Apologise? That doesn’t sound like you at all. Do you really want to sleep with her that much huh?”The Alpha huffed. “If I wanted to sleep with her I would have already done that”“I don’t think you can get her to want to fuck you,” Ben said, other football players flocking to their bench. Fortunately Ashton was not there as he had to stay back behind on the ground. “I don’t think she’s like the girls you sleep with. She’s too...Studious, or something. Way too smart for you. Can see right through your celebrity bullshit.”“And also she is Arelis favourite student,” Another one pointed out.“Who?”“Our college Dean. He adores her”
The Alpha laughed and put his hand over his heart. “I don’t care if she’s his daughter. I can get her to fuck me if I want”
Bens lips twitched up. “I don’t believe you.”The frat boys laughed around, Nate snorting as he leaned against the lockers. What did they think do him? He can do whatever he wanted and still get away with it. Ben tapped his fingers against his closed lips, then arched his brows.
“Want to make a bet on it?”“A bet? For what?”
Chris shook his head. “Guys stop this now”Ben took a step forward, a smirk playing at the corner of his lips. “Your car”Nate swallowed loudly. “You’re serious? You want to make a bet to get my car?”
“Yes I am” Ben narrowed his eyes, wiggling one finger towards Nate. “Let’s do it. You can prove to others that you can get whatever you want”“I don’t have to prove anything to anyone”“Sounds to me like you don’t think you can do it.” Ben teased him.
The Alphas shoulders bobbed with a silent laugh. He shook his head, then swallowed. Anger coursed through his veins. Without warning, he dropped his towel on the floor and surged forward. How dare a beta question him?“Hey, hey” Chris yelled, running towards them.
Nate was immediately on him, squeezing his shoulders, holding him in place by his mesh tank. It would be so easy for the Alpha to snap his littleneck. Another couple of players joined them, trying to break them apart. Chris stood between both of them. “Chill out. It’s all in good fun. This is just a joke, yeah? No one’s making any bets about Allie, who is an actual person, yeah?”Nates nose practically touching his. They stared at each other, glint in their eyes. Though the Alpha was trying to smile, his eyes flared with fury, his voice crawling out of his throat. “Just who the fuck do you think you’re talking to, Ben?”“I think I’ve been quite clear.”
He gripped his tank tightly and pulled him half over, raising him in the air. Players shouted and stuck their arms between them, Nate relenting and releasing his grip. He smoothed his palms down his shirt, then tapped his knuckles once against the lockers behind him. His right hand straightened in the air between them.
“Fine, I’ll do it then.”
“Nate,” Chris warned, his hand gripping his wrist. “You don’t have to do this.”
Ben cheered, pointing the finger at him. “Now that’s the man I know! Fuck yeah!” He straightened his shirt and picked his bag before storming out of the locker, leaving all of them behind. The air in the locker room shifted as soon as he went.“Captain, she’s a good one. She tutored me in Psychology.” Sheldon quietly said.“Also the star runner of the uni,” Another one piped up from the corner.Chris, his best friend, made a noise. “And Ashton's friend. Think about it again.”Nate clutched his head in between his hands, breathing loudly. He should have thought through before agreeing to it. Shaking his head, he stood up, meeting his best friend’s eyes. “I don’t back down from a challenge, and you know.”***Allie didn't come back to her room until late in morning. The omega was distracted for the better part of the day, so she did one thing that made her focus. Kill a hellhound. Her hands were stained with the blood of that nasty creature and jeans covered in dried up mud. She tried to make her way through the trees without being caught by any of the students out in the morning. The last thing she needed was to be investigated about her whereabouts. The Pure Omega wasn't exactly the best at making excuses, especially when she uncomfortably stood covered in blood and grime. She tried not to grimace in disgust with every inhale and exhale as the sun broke through the trees above her.On the way back, she found herself jumping and tumbling over large, broken trees and protruding roots. Small, spiky burs were sticking to her pants and shoes, making her wince with every step she took."Why must there be so many
As expected Rachel was adamant on attending the first party of the year in the frat. Or first party according to her. Allie only went along because she had nothing better to do on a Friday night sadly. Her friend, Ashton, had insisted she come as well. The frat house they entered was fucking massive, in her opinion. She couldn’t help but stare at the squeaky clean floors and rooms with high ceilings, expensive wallpapers, leather couches. Assuming it was boys, mostly Alphas living inside they would be precisely opposite but surprisingly it was neat. Her friend had a bright grin on her face, and excitement radiated off her as she took Allie by the wrist to stir her through the crowds. Rachel seemed at ease, right at home in this kind of environment.“Let’s find the kitchen, I need a drink,” She exclaimed, her voice raised so Allie could hear her over the pounding music that was re
Allie wanted to dance, move along to the music with the people in the living room but her head was hurting. The pumping music wasn't helping either. Seriously who asked her to drink so much? The omega was pretty sure she would wake up with a bump in the morning. How grand! This party hadn't turned out how she expected it to. It wasn't bad, perse, just that Allie felt a bit like dying. As she was contemplating to vanish to somewhere else, just for the hell of it because Nate was dragging her around as he owned her. His grip around her wrist tightened as they passed through the group of Alphas, eyeing her. The omega ignored them for the sake of her pounding headache, looking around for familiar face. From the corner of her eyes, she noticed Rachel approaching her, looking far soberer than she had when Allie had last seen her, eyes less befuddled."There you go," Nate said, pushing Allie towards Ra
Nates head tilted sideways. "Umm...I...” He nervously smiled with all his teeth and nodded along as he drawled, "You, uh...Uh..."The Alpha was blank at that moment. He was also aware that it's his only opportunity to get on her good side. Think! Think! Nate thought to himself while staring at her. After all, he was always good with making up things and getting away with them."Right." Allie sighed, rolling her eyes. She picked the coffee from the table and started walking out of the cafeteria. "That's what I thought."Her strides were hard to match up as always. She's a runner alright, but why couldn’t she walk normally for once? Nate was able to slide beside her, keeping up with every step for a change. It's surreal and progress on his part.“Because I heard you speak," Nate suddenly blurted out. The Alpha held his breath as he tried to remember as
Allie watched the scene unfold in front of her with wide eyes. Why would Nate intentionally harm his teammate like that? The omega couldn’t understand the logic behind that. Ben had creeped her out for sure, and she wanted nothing more from him, but getting him hurt wasn’t her intention. As soon as the game was over, which concluded with Nates team winning, she wanted to go back. Rachel, on the other hand, was waiting to meet Chris and gush about his skills. Something she has been doing since they started playing. When Nate spotted her leaving, he jogged up to her, his smile bright and wide. He was no longer wearing his uniform, just a simple white shirt and his skinny jeans which cost more than her monthly allowance. Shaking her head, she blinked at him. “Good game?”“I won so yeah” The Alpha shrugged.Just before she could ask him about
/His POV/Two weeks later, Allie was still behaving oddly lovely towards him. Oddly lovely in the way that she didn't once lash out on him, didn't once make a stupid, mean remark, didn't once criticise him for anything. Not even when he barged in her Psychology class, she acted almost civil with him if it could be considered civil to completely ignore him sitting next to her in favour of listening to the lecture. Maybe the beta was finally coming in terms of their friendship. They also texted each other back and forth with silly messages and stayed up to talk about anything and everything. Its a miracle she didn't block him after he made a lame joke about runners.Nate was glad that they were moving forward as it would be much easier for him to proceed with the bet. Yeah, he's still on about it. How can he let it go when Ben made it a mission to remind him about it every time they are together? And it
Allie wanted a distraction. The best way to do that was to blend in the noisy crowd and pretend to be one of them. Also, have a drink or two. It always calmed her down, so there’s that. She was tired of playing the indifferent beta. So when she found out about the omega bar closer to the university, she jumped at the opportunity.Leaning against the bar, she’s closer to the dance floor than she thought. So focused on her self pity, the omega wasn't ready when a stranger pushed her and rushed off down the bar in a hurry. Allie stumbled straight into someone behind her, bumping into the person hard enough that they had to catch her with one arm around her waist. The rough fingers digging into her skin made her nose flare."You absolute fucking-" She was seething under her breath, nose planted straight into the stranger's torso when the smell hit her. So familiar. Looking up, she notice
"Nate, Nate," The omega whispered, and she was shocked at the way he looked up immediately, momentarily tearing his focus from her neck. She was scared that in the heat of the moment, he would sink his teeth and mark her skin. Allies secret would fall apart in a matter of seconds if that happened."Yes, baby?" He raised his brow, his voice gravelly and deep while thumbing her parted lips.At the way he's staring at her, so attentive, Allie whimpered, taking a breath. There was a 'get off of me,' on the tip of her tongue, she knew that's the right thing to do. “Kiss me again," The omega whispered, instead not afraid to resort to begging if it came to it.Luckily, it didn't; his mouth was on her again, the kiss sloppy with tongues and teeth and spit, but Allie only craved more. The omega could still taste the whiskey just as well as before, and she sucked his tongue into her mouth, savouring the tas
As soon as he stepped out of the field, Nate was hounded by the reporters. He opened his mouth, but before he could say something, they all crowded him. From the corner of his eyes, he noticed his manager urging him to speak. The Alpha no choice but to stand there and answer the questions. The reporter opened her mouth, undoubtedly about to dig a little deeper. He turned away from the reporter, his eyes scanning the joyous faces of his teammates, Coach, trainers and co-trainers, medics and a dozen assistants, smiling broadly. Winning indeed bought a different kind of energy around the stadium."Congratulations, Mr Harper!"The Alpha nodded his head. "Thank you.""Are you here alone?""Yes"Why did they care? He still scored the winning goal, and their team won. What if no one came to see him? The reporters always asked him ridiculous q
As soon as the injured Alpha gave up, Allie rushed towards Nate. He was fighting so many of them on his own, which didn’t sit right with her. She noticed that Nates pack was exhausting their resources, sending the pack soldiers in front as much as they could. They also had to defend the packhouse from being raided and protect the safe room.Nate twisted the arm of the attacker, turning his head towards her. “Allie, why are you here? You need to go back!”“I don’t want to leave your side”, She yelled over the commotion, kicking the person who tried to swing by.The injured attacker pushed himself backwards to travel in her direction at a faster pace. She was overconfident and ignored him.The omega didn't expect the attacker to reach up, grip her forearm, and extract his claws to pierce deeply under her skin. Allie hollered in sharp p
Allies eyes comically widened as those words registered. She should have known that Harold would follow through with his plan. After all, he's an Alpha with a mission. A dangerous one at that. Her eyes shifted towards Nate, who visibly tensed at Sams words. "My pack is ready!" Nate clicked his tongue. "That werewolf can do whatever he wants. We will still win." The air in the room shifted. She didn't want Nate to have anything to do with that despicable man. Just the thought of him being all alone against him made her stomach curl in fear. As if the Alpha heard her thoughts, Nate cleared his throat. "Don't worry; my pack will be helping me." Sam heaved a sigh. "Wish I could help you in some way." "You helped. We had no idea that they are ready. Now we can be more cautious." "I mean by fighting against them" His voice raised. "They threatened to kill my baby sister, and I have done nothing about it." Allie cleared her throat, placing a hand on his. Tears dribbled down her chin, v
The Alpha pheromones were the first thing she registered, the scent heady and safe. Allie roused slowly, her eyes fluttering open only to squeeze shut at the bright light. Soft tufts of hair sprawled over the pillow where she pressed her face and whined. It's then the omega realised that someone was next to her.She felt so warm. So safe.Taking a deep breath, Allie stared at the person beside her, the contact between them burning with tenderness and comfort, intense and grounding. His hand was cradling her bump, face so close that she could see all his tiny freckles marring his skin. Nate let out a soft sigh, his eyes still closed. Allie leaned back into the embrace slowly, sighing in contentment. What was Nate doing beside her? Then she recalled everything."Allie, I had no idea what to do, so I called Nate," Rachel had whispered, running
Sitting in front of her, Nate appeared calm, which she noted bitterly. The Alpha always looked collected and sure of himself. She envied that, even more now. Allie struggled to find proper words, while Nate didn't have to worry about any of it.Even though she may be glowing, according to all her friends but the omega was also sporting dark eye bags and messy, flattened hair. She couldn't sleep the night before, worrying about her talk with Nate. The next morning, Allie slept in the bed for a long time, only waking up to her afternoon alarm."Allie?" The Alpha called out, his voice cautious and hesitant. She swallowed the lump in her throat. "Sorry, I got distracted."Nate sighed. The Alpha glanced at her before tugging on his roots; eyes narrowed together. "Why did you message me, Allie?"Even though his tone was polite and unaffected, Nate appeared irked. He glanced down
The omega was supposed to be dancing. It was her haven, something she did to take her mind off things. Due to her pregnancy and lack of suppressants, Allie chose to do online classes. She had enough drama in her life already.By the end of her dance class, they switched to a different routine which Allie was well aware of. Still, she couldn't perform it. That's why the instructor called her up immediately after class to reprimand the omega more blatantly for not paying enough attention."Allie", The dance instructor cleared her throat, taking a step forward. "I heard that you're expecting"At the mention of the baby, Allie blushed, her hand automatically coming up to cradle her mini bump. It's not fully visible under her practice leotard, but there was a noticeable curve where there hadn't been one before.Rachel couldn't stop cooing about it, talking to her belly as if the ba
The moment she stepped into the frat house, someone elbowed her in the side. She blinked and turned only to find her best friend, Ashton, with a deadly glare. Her friend stood in front of her, squinting his eyes against the light."I'm shocked you remember me!" He teased her, lips curving in a grin.It indeed has been a while. Allie was so wrapped up in her problems; she barely had time to talk with him. Ashtons one of her best friends, but she was in no mood for banter. Or anything else for that matter. Her only motive to visit the frat was to see Nate and confess everything. Her best friend had his hands on his hips, like he had any actual authority around here, brow raised. "I'm waiting...""Ashton, not now", She mumbled, hostile. "I need to speak with Nate."Her best friend twisted his lips. "I heard you on the phone."
Her mouth fell open as those words sank in, mind reeling. How did he know? Was her round belly that evident? On a whim, she stared down at her tummy, which was hidden by a layer of clothes. There's no way anyone could have known without Allie telling them. Most werewolf pregnancies don't start to show till they are two months. The omegas scent becomes thicker and sweeter, alerting the people of their condition. Maybe with the mixed species baby, it's different. Her hand immediately came around her stomach.Sam made a sound in the back of his throat. "Leader! You must be mistaken. She's unmated."Allie clenched her eyes shut, breathing accelerated. Her brother was defending her when he had no idea about her condition. This was not how she planned on telling him. Tears blurred her vision as she glared at the Pack Alpha.Harold darkly chuckled. "Oh, you sweet naive boy! Your sist
Allie couldn't believe her ears. How did they come to this? Months ago, she was content doing her job along with her brother. They both targeted the Hellhounds and finished the job with ease. No one bothered them.It seemed like in a matter of months; her entire life turned upside down. She's pregnant with a Hellhounds baby, found her Alpha, but they don't live together, and now someone wants to kill her. Granted, they had a reason to be angry, but this was not what she expected from the Crescent Pack. The omegas hand instinctively cradled her belly, swallowing the lump in her throat. "What are we going to do?"Sam threw his head back again. "Do our job, I guess."Allie couldn't help but recall the devastated look on Nates face, his sobs piercing her ear and causing goosebumps to rise all over the body. She didn't want to be the reason behind that pain anymore. Holding him and sha
