Valerie's POV

I woke up very early the next morning, unable to wipe the smile off my face. I was finally part of this pack, and I could not be happier. Ironic how I thought I would just use Alpha Niklaus to escape my old pack, then go my way, but now, I could not see myself anywhere else.

I breathed hard as Gamma Damien mercilessly had me doing some routines over and over until I got it right. He said he was building my stamina, and after that, he would teach me self defense lessons.

"Come on, sweetheart. Don't be tired. I want you to be able to kick the Alpha's ass soon enough." He urged me on, and I laughed. "After this, we are going to race down the track."

I gasped in shock, my joints aching from my exercises. "Race? Today? I will pass out." And I was not kidding.

"You are a wolf, come on."

I rolled my eyes. I had an Omega wolf, his was much stronger.

"And don't worry, I won't let you pass out. I don't want a raging Alpha biting my head off."

I blushed. Damien would cease every op

  • Alpha's regret: Omega's second chance   III-34: Reject me

Damien's POVMy hands were behind me as I clasped them tightly against each other. The room was cool, but I was sweating. Panicking, desperate to escape."Alpha Amanda." I mentally congratulated myself for keeping my voice steady, when all I wanted to do was yell at her to end this madness between us."Please sit down." Her voice was low now, her eyes curious as she stared at me. She must have seen the hostility in my eyes."Why this?" I asked, gesturing at the flowers and the champagne and the decorations and the lights. In fact, the entirety of the room. She gave a small shrug. "I was hoping that it will help you relax in my presence.""Do I look relaxed to you?"She shook her head slowly. "But it shows how much you are affected by me.""It shows how much I want to get out of here." It was an effort to keep my voice down.Hurt flicked through her eyes, but she drew in a breath to calm herself. "Please sit down."She was not just being polite. She was actually begging me."Please." S

  • Alpha's regret: Omega's second chance   III-33: Kidnapped

Damien's POVDays passed, Solana and Marcel had gone back to their pack and the day went on with the usual energy it carried. Everyone was happy.Well, almost.I was still tethered to a woman I didn't choose— one who refused to let me go. I could not do more than hold Amara or hug and kiss her cheeks, even though we clearly craved more.Amara had told me last night that she was ready for me. Fully ready to be claimed. She wanted me to mark her. But marking her, when I had found my fated mate could cause the latter serious pain.Ronald was paralyzed when Klaus marked Valerie, and I didn't wish to put her through such pain. My wolf especially, objected to marking another. We were not also sure that the marking might work with us if I didn't break the one with Amanda. It worked for Valerie and Klaus because they were also fated mates.Another reason the marking would not be happening was because I knew that Amara would not like to be marked while another nursed the pain.I knew I had to

  • Alpha's regret: Omega's second chance   III-32: Possessive

Amara's POVMy breath hitched. There was something in Damien's voice— low, commanding and deliberate— that made my knees tremble and want to do everything that he says. The air between us thickened with anticipation and charged with something much greater than lust.Trust.I placed my hands behind me like he asked me to, while those dark eyes assessed me in a way that sent my face going up in flames. He cupped one of my breasts, kneading it softly. Then he pinched my nipple harder than I expected, and I moaned out loud."You have no idea how lovely you look when you make those sounds, Amara." He said, taking my other breast and squeezing both of them now. I whimpered, arching forward. He began to touch me, hands mapping spots in my body, trailing paths and patterns that made me breathless. He lips came upon my neck, kissing and nibbling my flesh, I was certain he would leave hickeys. He pulled away and stepped back just a little, as if to admire the art he was creating. Then he approa

  • Alpha's regret: Omega's second chance   III-31: My chosen mate

Damien's POVEveryone cleared the living room so that my dad and I could have a private moment. Amara decided not to meet him at all, and I totally supported it."Why are you here, Dad?" I couldn't even pretend to be pleased with his arrival. He shook his head. "No greetings, huh?""Why are you here?" I repeated."When were you going to tell your mother and I that you found your mate?" His face lit up, almost as if he was certain that I already chose to be with my fated mate.I knew it. That was why he drove here this morning without informing me. Someone must have told him. Sometimes I forgot about the Omegas here and their ability to gossip."I have introduced my mate to you." I said, my tone flat and passive. He shook his head. "No you have not. You mate is Alpha Amanda of the Moon cliff pack, and I have not met her."I took some deep calming breaths, wanting to be civilized, but my patience was already wearing thin."Alpha Amanda and I decided that we are going to reject the bond.

  • Alpha's regret: Omega's second chance   III-30: He's mine

Amanda's POVThe ride back to my pack was a struggle. A struggle through heavy breathing and tears. Back in the Crescent wolves pack house, I put on a strong front, not wanting them to see me break down. I was an Alpha. I would not let a bunch of people see me cry.Solana wanted to talk to me, but I couldn't face her. She even called me a number of times on my way until I switched my phone off.My mate.I wasn't truly looking forward to finding my mate. I grew up learning about how my father left my mom because he could not stand her being Alpha. Not even the fact that they were fated mates stopped him. Not the fact that she was already pregnant with me. He just could not stand his woman being more powerful than him. So I had not paid much importance to the mate bond.Until now.I had no idea it would affect me this way.The scent and the instant connection knocked the breath out of me, and all I wanted at that moment was to claim him for myself. It was the most powerful force I had e

  • Alpha's regret: Omega's second chance   III-29: The bond we choose

Damien's POVAmanda left earlier than she should, leaving Marcel and Solana here— the alliance they came for, forgotten. Everyone was gathered in the living room, and I could almost taste the tension in the air when I walked in.But I didn't care about anyone else, as my eyes found her immediately.Amara was sandwiched between Valerie and Carrie, but she wasn't relaxed. Not like before. Her body was tense, her hands curled into her laps. And when she looked up at me, the warmth in her eyes was gone. There was no spark or smile. Just silence and something awfully close to dread. No, this was different. Distant. Guarded. Like she was preparing herself for the worst. Her eyes were so sad, like she was expecting me to walk up to her and tell her everything between us was over.I didn't hesitate as I walked over, every single person in this large living room blurred to nothing as I took her hand. "Come with me."She looked at me, trying hard to read my expression and control her own. It wa
