SELAH'S POV:
I hate how things are turning out. I am barely allowed access into the palace as Onyx mother doesn't want me. His father doesn't even care and Cherry is not healthy enough to defend me. I know how much she adores me.
Onyx on the other hand, has changed drastically. He no longer pleasures me the way he used to when we used to be in a serious relationship. Now, he's married and when he invites me over all the time, he's always busy and detached and I don't like it one bit.
Sighing, I put on my earrings. I need to go see Onyx today and probably talk to him about what's happening and how I don't like it at all.
I'm dressed really well as that's my specialty and I wonder how Onyx copes with a woman who dresses like she carries the weight of the world on her shoulders. I hate her so much.
I slip my legs into my boots and I am set and ready to go to the palace. I just hope the Queen doesn't see me. She always has something harsh to say to me and it makes me tick. I wish there was a way to get her and the King out of the book.
That's when it clicks on my head. As the lock of my door clicks, I suddenly have an idea and a sinister smile appears on my face. I know it's extreme but I want Onyx and I must have him.
Hazel be damned.
My car is parked in the parking lot and I notice that it's washed. The gardener probably washed it this morning. I nod in satisfaction, happy that my father is not around to tell me how much of a terrible whore I am for having an affair with the King even when he's married.
I rev up my engine and drive towards the palace.
The palace is a stone's throw from my house but I like to go with a vehicle. To assert my dominance and buoyancy. My father is a rich merchant and a lot of people know him but not me.
So every moment, I have to remind them that he's rich so they don't forget and treat me like trash.
Getting to the palace gates, one of the guards lowers his head to see that it's me. A sigh escapes his lips.
"The Dowager Queen has asked you not to return here,"
I frown. "She has no right. Onyx is my boyfriend and he's the King of this pack so she really has no say,"
The guard shakes his head. "I'm being serious with you right now. The Queen specially warned us not to open the gates up for you,"
Nodding, I lean over to the other side of my car, opening the glove compartment. A thick wad of cash is sitting pretty in it and I take it out, count several bills and hand it over to the guard who looks from side to side immediately before snatching it from my hand and slipping it quickly into his pocket.
I know this guy and what he wants. Whenever he starts saying this to me, I know he's talking about wanting some money. I understand so I just hand the money over to him.
He smiles at me and as I slowly drive into the palace, I say. "You know, it's best you stop repeating the same thing over and over again and just ask for some money, okay? "
The guard nods and I continue driving.
The palace, as usual, is bustling with activities. When I park, they all raise their heads to see that it is me. They go back to what they're doing without even acknowledging my presence.
I find it infuriating but I have chosen not to react as they are if no importance to me. They've never really liked me and that's okay. Everyone doesn't have to like me.
Entering the palace, I realize that it's empty. I mean, it always is. Chuckling, I go for the staircases, climbing as I go. The first place I go to is Onyx's study as he would be in there by this time of the afternoon and I also love it when he bends me over and shows me that he's the dominant one.
I bite my lips as I recall memories.
But when I knock, he doesn't answer. I knock again and no answer comes.
I start to get worried immediately. What if he doesn't want to talk to me anymore? Because I'm sure he's always here every afternoon but he doesn't seem to be.
I twist the knob and it comes open. The office is empty and I close my eyes in relief. For a brief moment, I thought he was finally over with me. I really need to stop overthinking.
His room is the next place I go to and he's also not there.
That's when the real worry starts to set in.
I need to find one of the servants so I can ask them where he is.
Luckily for me, a servant is passing through the corridor and I immediately pull her. She glares at me and I know I deserve it. I've never really been nice to her.
"Do you know where Onyx is?" I ask.
A smile fills her face which is strange. If she's smiling, then it's not something good she wants to say.
"The King and the Queen left together. They probably went on a date. He's been treating her nicely. You should see how beautiful she looked today. I'm guessing your time here is over." The maid says and laughs before continuing on her journey.
I feel my fists clench and I just wish I could punch it into that bitch's mouth.
Hazel. I seethe.
What makes her think she can suddenly make Onyx warm up to her? That's absolutely ridiculous. I can feel so much anger rising inside me and I want to do something that would make Onyx turn against her.
"I thought I asked you to stay away from my palace and from my son?"
I would recognize that voice anywhere and any day. I feel slightly anxious because she scares me with her death glares. I know she doesn't like me but sometimes, she's just so extreme and I can't help it.
Turning, I see her standing with her husband on a wheelchair. They look like the perfect couple to be in a coffin.
"I came to see Onyx," I say, trying not to sound afraid.
The Queen bursts into laughter. "You have come to see my Onyx?"
I nod.
"He's not home as you can see and I'm sure he wouldn't want to see you here. He went out with his Luna and would not be back till evening," The King is the one to speak this time and I can here the laughter and mockery in his voice. I hate it so much.
"I'll wait."
"Not while we're here. You have to go home and you know that," The Queen says.
Well, if she thinks she is stubborn, she's not met someone who's worse.
"I'll not listen to whatever you say. You both are done ruling and commanding this pack. I would only listen to Alpha Onyx,"
The Queen looks really livid right now. "Guards!" She calls out loud and immediately, three guards steps forward, standing behind me. I feel embarrassment and anger wash over me.
"Throw her out of my palace. Such a spoilt brat and a disrespectful young girl,"
Two of the guards nod and before I can even begin to walk away, they grab me roughly by the arm.
"The Queen has placed an order for you to be thrown out already. Don't try to resist or you'd be severely punished."
As they push me, I turn to the Queen. "You're going to regret this you just did. You fucking ask these turds to throw me out? You're nothing but a bitch. You and your husband,"
And with the speed of lightning, the Queen is standing before me. I have forgotten how strong and fast she is even with her old age.
Whack!
I do not expect the slap that descends on my cheek. It is so strong that it gives me a whiplash and I grunt in pain.
Her claws must have come out in anger because she slashed my cheek slightly.
I healed immediately but this time, all I was filled with was rage and the urge to revenge and kill and as the guards took me out of the palace, I saw a car coming towards us.
It's Onyx!
I begin to struggle in their hold. "Let me go! Onyx is here and I need to speak to him!"
Onyx already sees me and winds down the glass immediately. "Onyx! Look what your mother made this retards do to me!"
He sighs and asks the driver to stop before dropping from the car and leaving Hazel in it.
I exchange eye contact with the filthy woman before smirking. She doesn't seem to care.
"Selah, why are you here?" Onyx asks as soon as he gets to where I am standing with the guards still holding my arms tightly. "Let her go," He says and immediately, I am released.
"Why are you here?" Onyx asks gain
ONYX'S POV: We're just driving into the gate when we see a lady being pulled towards the palace gates by the guards. Hazel also cranes her neck to see who it is but she says nothing. I recognized her immediately. "Selah?" Then I tap the driver. "Stop driving! Park immediately!" Wounding my glass down, I see that she's really angry and I just hope it's not my mother's command. I'll be livid with them. "Onyx!" She calls out loudly. "Look what your mother made these retards do to me!" The driver finally halts and I quickly step down from the car. "Selah, why are you here?" I ask as soon as I get to where Selah is, standing with the guards still holding her arms tightly. "Let her go," command and immediately, she is released. Selah moves away from them and rushes towards me to hold my arm. "Why are you here?" I ask again. "Firstly, I find it offensive that you would ask me why I am here. Secondly, I came here to talk to you about something,"
EARL'S POV: I don't know what to tell Onyx. He's as stubborn as an ox and would listen to no one. I guess only time would make him listen and as I sat beside his Luna, one of the most beautiful women I have come across, I decided that I would do something drastic. But for now, I need to listen to Hazel. "You're worth more than this. Can't you leave him?" Hazel whips her head to look at me. There's fire in her eyes. "Do you think I don't want to? If I leave him, he'll find me. He'd scour the corners of the earth in search of me. I can't run away from him. That's what's most depressing!" Hazel cried out and bent her head. "He doesn't know how much he has hurt me. I have never been treated this bad my whole life as it is new to me. I hate it, I want to run away from it but I know I can't. I only have to endure and hope that someday, something changes or maybe I can get used to it," While she speaks, I listen to her and my heart goes out to her. I can feel my
ONYX'S POV; "Let's go to your room," Selah whines as she gets on top of me. "But we're fine here." I say, slightly pushing her off me. She gets off me in anger and glares at me. "Find where anyone can come in?" "I'm really not in the mood, Selah," Onyx said. He was shocked that he had actually said that. He had never not been in the mood with Selah and this was strange. He looked at her to see that she was already frowning and getting on her feet. "I should leave, then," She says. Grabbing her by the arm, I stop her from moving and she tries to be free from my hold to no avail. "You're not leaving." "Why?" Selah queried. "You won't even touch me and now, you don't want me to go either!" "Calm down, Selah. Sex isn't the only thing we should be having, should it? There are other things to do. Like have conversations, take a walk or even play games," Selah is staring at me in confusion. "What are you saying? Conversations, walks, games?" She bursts
HAZEL'S POV: I thought Selah left this afternoon? What's she still doing here by this time? I'm not moved by the way she looks at me as she proceeds into the palace. "I really hate her," Kiara spat. "She makes me want to murder," I burst into laughter. "Hey! Kiara, you don't have to sound like that." "I don't really care. She's so shameless. She should be busy searching for her mate but she's here rubbing her body against the King. How shameful." "Calm down, Kiara. It's not that deep," We're standing outside the gates now and she's glaring at me. "It's not that deep?!" She bursts into laughter. "You must be really dumb to think that it's not that deep. Someone is trying to take your place in Onyx's life and you're saying it's not that deep?" "I thought you hated Onyx? Aren't you the one asking me to leave him? Why are you mad that I'm not doing anything about it? Cut me some slack, Kiara. I am already receiving so much pressure from being the King's
SELAH'S POV: "She was able to bribe the priest to announce someone else as his mate." I laugh, shaking my head. "I don't believe that the Priest would collect s bribe," Stella said, looking very doubtful. "He's a very transparent man," "Like I said, they'll show you what they want you to see and hide what they don't want you to see. While all these were happening, Onyx was informing me about it and I thought he was on my side. He made a promise to me that he would never let their plans come to fruition. Look at things now? He's married to Hazel, a lady from the woods. Hazel was the one who shot an arrow at Cherry. That's why the sweet girl has been on the sick bed for almost two months and nothing is being done!" "The Dowager Queen doesn't care enough for her daughter. In her quest not to make me part of the family, she has wreaked a lot of havoc and I can't even stand to watch it. It's terrible!" "On the day that it was announced that Hazel was his mate, I wa
ONYX'S POV: The next morning, I woke up to see my mother standing in my room. For a moment, I am confused as to why she's in my room. She rarely comes to my room when I am asleep. She did that a long time ago when I was still young so seeing her here at this time has me wondering why. "What are you doing in my room, mother?" "A good morning to you too, Onyx." She says sternly. Sitting up, I stretch and yawn before going to my window to open the curtains. It's a brand new day and I don't know what it holds for me. "Were you aware that the priest came?" Frowning, I turn to look at her. The priest rarely ever comes here. The last time he was here, it was for my coronation. "No, I wasn't. When did he come?" "This morning." She replies and goes to take a seat in front of my work desk. "I was in the sunroom with your father and your wife when he came," I wrinkle my nose at the way she addresses Hazel as my wife. "Did he state the reason why he was here
HAZEL'S POV; While we are still talking, the Queen comes into the sun room. We both turn our heads to see that she looks upset. "What's wrong, honey?" The King asks. Taking a seat, she sighs. "It's Onyx. He doesn't even believe what I said." "What did you tell him?" "Everything the priest said. The first thing he did was accuse Hazel. He thought she might be the one to cause all the trouble but I told him it was a lie! Why would Hazel be the first person to come to his mind?" "He hates her. What do you expect? No matter how good she is, he is blinded. He's going to regret all he's doing to her now," They're talking like I'm not here and somehow, it makes me feel left out. But I know they're talking about me for my own good. "Selah is the only person who would do that. But the question now is, how is she going to?" The King says. The Queen laughs. "This is exactly what I told him. Guess what he said? He said Selah can't hurt a fly. He said a
SELAH'S POV: Today's Saturday and I know it's going to be quite a busy day for me as I'll be going to see Stella and also preparing what I'll use for the task ahead of us. I find my father in the kitchen. He's having his morning cup of coffee while reading through a news bulletin. "Good morning, Dad," I say while going to the fridge to get a carton of milk flavored with plasma. It's my favorite as it contains a little element of blood. He looks up at me and is silent for a while. "Where were you for the whole of yesterday? You got home late at night, why?" Going over to the cabinet, I pull it open and extract a packet of blood meal. I take out a bowl from the dish rack and pour out the blood cereal into it. The milk comes next. "I was at the palace," "I have warned you several times to stay away from the palace. Onyx is no longer your boyfriend and he is married to his mate. Don't you ever listen?" I place the carton of milk on the marble counter
CHAPTER 133 HAZEL'S POV; "Don't you look breathtaking tonight, honey?" Queen Arya squealed as I took the steps down. The room was filled with guests and everyone seemed to be merry. I was taken back to this morning and how the execution bad been carried out. The people had gathered around the front of the palace, all waiting as the offenders stood in a line. Selah and her parents were banished and the maid who had helped in executing the poisoning had been executed and I thought that was quite unfair. I'd have loved to see Selah hanging off a rope as she gagged for the last of her breath. But banishing them was worse than executing them. Whenever anyone was banished, it was taken to the Lycan Confederate and they would be stamped unwanted by any Packs around and always hunted down by wolf hunters so I understood why Onyx had let them live to suffer. CHAPTER 132 ONYX'S POV; There was a lot I had to do. But first, I needed to be alone. After welcoming my parents and speaking to Cherry, I turned and walked back into my study. Theresa followed behind me. I knew she had something to tell me. Once I was in the confines of my study, I turned to look at her. "You've got something to tell me?" Theresa nodded and went ahead to pull out a seat. She took a seat and stared at me. "I'd rather you took your seat," Nodding, I pulled out a seat. "I hope you're not here to tell me something that'll make me worry? I think I've had enough drama for today," "It's not a lot that I want to say, Onyx. I just want to tell you that I am really happy you're coming to terms with everything changing," I leaned back against my chair and stroked my chin. "Theresa, I am really overwhelmed. All these time, I have been pushing the people that care about me away. I feel so terrible right now to be very honest. It feels like a
CHAPTER 131 HAZEL'S POV; I spent the next few minutes staring down at my hands. I felt stronger than ever. Smiling, I let my claws jut out before letting it go back in. Squealing in delight, I fell back flat on the bed and smiled. A knock sounded on the door. I sat up immediately and stood to my feet. Twisting the knob, the door opened. Onyx stood there. I was taken aback but I let him in anyway. He looked really dull and like he needed a hug but I stepped back and maintained my position, my hand behind my back. "You're well, aren't you?" He asked when he stopped in the middle of the room and looked around. "Yes, I am," I replied with a nod. He said nothing for the next few moments. He busied himself with checking the window to be sure the locks were intact. I stood there, watching him with slight surprise. Why was he doing all these? "What's going on?" I finally asked. He turned to look at me. "I want to be sure the locks are intact
CHAPTER 130 ONYX'S POV; I drove into the palace, shaking with anger. Seeing Hazel had released something in me. All the pent up anger and hatred had come flowing out of my whole being and I didn't want to see her close to me at all. Once I parked my car, I pushed the door open and shut it with a thud. I walked straight into the palace. The Priest stood in the middle of the great room. A lady dressed in a cloak stood behind him, her head bowed low. I stopped before him. "It's a surprise to see you here after such a long time. I hope you have come with great news concerning the recovery of my parents?" He looked at me with obvious displeasure and took a step towards him. "That is not why I have come here, Alpha Onyx," "Is something wrong?" "Terribly. And for the fact that you have been aware and hiding it. It's terrible," . "What are you talking about?" "Have you forgotten? It's so funny how you tend to forget things because you force yourself t
CHAPTER 129 HAZEL'S POV; It felt beautiful to be running with so much speed past trees and vegetation. I moved with the breeze, feeling free. I had shifted and I revelled in the strength it came with. It's speed and great hearing ability. So this was how it felt to be a wolf? This was how amazing it felt to have a wolf. I thought back to my brother and how he was going to be so shocked and filled with excitement as he shifted. And that made me change my course. I had been running towards the blood river which was the southern part of this lake but I made a side turn, going southwest. I ran for such a long time, going only through the forest as I knew it led to the back of our cottage. While I was eager to go through the front door, I knew I had to go. Through the back. There was a possibility that it had already been found out that I wasn't in my room. I mean, it was midday already and Theresa would be worried. At least, I hadn't informed her. Still, I h
CHAPTER 128 ONYX'S POV; I had no idea where to start from. Today was going to be hectic but I didn't care. I needed to find her and the first place I went to was her home. No one was home. The gates were latched and locked but the fence was short so I jumped over it. There was a possibility that Hazel had locked it to keep anyone off, just like the way she had made a false body in her bed. As I walked towards the porch of the cottage, I felt a wave of nervous feeling wash over me. She better be there or I was going to lose my shit. On getting to the door, I twisted the door knob but it was locked. I tried a few more times before realizing that she was indeed not at him. Maybe she locked herself in? I knew keeping keys outside was one common thing so I lifted the floor mat. There was no key there. I looked around then I find a vase standing at the other side. I walked to it and looked around but there was no key. Parting the leaves of the plant
CHAPTER 127 ONYX'S POV; "Where's my wife?!" I thundered as I walked through the corridor. The maids stood there, watching with fear. I had gone to Hazel's room to check on her but her door was locked. I knocked several times but no answer came. I knew she couldn't ignore me for that long even if she was mad at me or hated me. Something was wrong. I asked one of the guards to climb up her window and look in only for him to find out that she was not in bed but an array of pillows covered with her duvet to make it look like she was asleep. Once it was reported to me that she wasn't in her room, I went into a full blown panic and asked all my guards to search for her. I was so afraid. A lot of things ran through my head. What if she had been kidnapped by Selah a second time? I knew they were capable of doing that. Or maybe she had run away. But with who? Earl? I sent one of my guards to check if she was with Earl but he returned with negative news and
CHAPTER 126 HAZEL'S POV; The next morning, I woke up as early as five and put on a dress and a cloak around my body to conceal me from being seen. I would have told Theresa about my movements but she has done something to really annoy me yesterday. Telling her would have put more risk to this as I didn't trust her so much. Before going to bed last night, I had planned on how my movement was going to be, taking notes of routes to go through and how I was going to return. She walked to the window and looked out. There were guards stationed at different points but she wasn't going to go through the palace gates. She went back to her bed and picked two pillows and arranged it on the bed to look like someone was sleeping on it. Then she raised the duvet and placed it over the pillows. As soon as she was done, she picked the keys to her room. She was going to lock it. The maid would find the door locked and think I am asleep and it would only be a matter of
