CHAPTER 69 HAZEL'S POV: I felt really stupid after Onyx asked me to get out of his room. What had come over me? I hated him to the core but back there, I acted like something else. The more I replayed this memory in my head, the more I wanted to pull out my hair from my head. I was in my room when I heard the maids whispering about Cherry being awake and immediately, my anxiety returned. Was there never a moment of rest for me in this place? Did I always have to be in a constant state of fear? I felt suffocated in here and everywhere around this palace but I knew there was no escape for me. I was stuck here for as long as I gained back my freedom. The idea of Cherry being awake made me sick in the stomach. I was taken back to the events that had led her to falling sick for the second time and it made me shaken to the marrow. I blew out a hot breath and lay back on the bed as I got lost in thought. I fell asleep from there. About an hour later
CHAPTER 70 SELAH'S POV: Today was quiet. I had stayed in my room all day and in the morning, I watched both of my parents arguing about decisions and priorities. When I got tired of their arguments, I went up to my room and decided to clear my head there. I thought back to the arguments they were having and I saw how my father fought back tears. My mother wasn't even shaken by the arguments they were having. She stood, saying whatever she wanted to say in the firmest of voice she could muster. I saw the hurt in my father's eyes and immediately felt sorry for him. But I had a purpose and it had to work. I knew what I was doing was extreme but as my mother said, everything is a risk and if I was going to take it to be able to get my Onyx back, I was going to do it. I hadn't stayed in my room for up to one hour when I heard a knock on the door. Sighing, I climbed out of bed and lazily walked to my door. Opening it, I found my mother standing there, looking lik
ONYX'S POV: The day had arrived and I knew it was going to be busy for me as I had invited a lot of people to the party tonight. I had instructed Guetta to add a warning note in every invitation card, warning people not to speak of my parents and how they were poisoned. I was still hiding it from Cherry. Luckily, the medication had worked and her memories had been successfully wiped out. I was in my study, talking about the cost of food with Tiffany when a knock sounded on the door. "Come in!" I called out at the top of my voice and when I realized that I sounded more cheerful than before, I frowned and cleared my throat. The door opened and Nykon came into the room. When I saw him, my face lit up. At least, he wasn't with Earl who'd always remind me in one way or the other that Hazel deserved better than being maltreated by me. On some days, I wished I could tell him to fuck off and get married to Hazel instead. But I was scared to say it. I knew
CHAPTER 72 ONYX'S POV; Two hours ago, I went to speak with guards, telling them to work twice as hard today. I informed them of Joanna's return and how she had been seen going to Tuchel's home. "I have no idea why she would be going to see him just immediately when she's back but I know she's up to no good," I said, looking at every one of my guards that were assembled before me in the barely used armory. I had instructed them to kill Joana on sight and arrest Tuchel if he was eventually caught and as soon as I had finished dishing out instructions to them, I left the armory and went back to my room. Almost half of the guests had arrived and I wasn't yet prepared. Well, the party was starting in an hour so I had nothing to bother about. Only women took time dressing up and all I had to wear were slacks and a shirt. Walking through the eastern wing towards my wing, I decided to stop by Cherry's room. I knocked and when she opened, she was all smiles. She
CHAPTER 73 HAZEL'S POV; It was time for me to step out of my room. I was so nervous that my hand shook. I hid it from the girls. I didn't want them to start asking questions. I had no answer to looking at me with pity in their eyes. They thought I was having the time of my life here and they also thought tonight was a night I looked forward to but no. That wasn't the case. If I would be nervous for a normal party, tonight, it doubled because it was Cherry's party. Anything could happen. She hated me with her guts. Before she went into another coma, I thought she had finally come to accept me as one of them. Heck, she had even apologized to me and finally, I was feeling like I could be part of them even though Onyx was used to giving me mixed signals. I haven't seen her since she was awake and even now, I wasn't ready to. I closed my eyes and heaved a deep breath. "Hazel?" I turned to see Yara standing by the door. She was looking at me in confu
CHAPTER 75 ONYX'S POV: I heard the crash and I turned to see that Hazel was at the center of it all. Closing my eyes, I sighed. She never does anything right. "Who's she?" Yvonne asked. I looked at her and remembered that I hadn't really told her about my mate. Now wasn't the time either. "Someone you don't know. I have to go and make sure everything is alright," "I'll come with you," She said but I was already gone. As I weaved through the crowd, I found Cherry standing close to the scene of the incident and I knew I had to stop her before she embarrassed Hazel. She was my Luna and almost everyone in this room knew about it. I didn't like being the talk of the town. On getting to the scene, I saw Hazel hunched over. The whole place had been cleaned up but she was still on the floor, head bent low to the ground and before she could grab Hazel by the hair, Earl grabbed her by the arm and pulled her behind him. I immediately rushed to Hazel and l
ONYX'S POV; I went back to the party. Everyone had gone back to partying like a scene hadn't just happened. Cherry was standing with her friends and I walked towards where she stood, talking and laughing like she hadn't just ruined someone's night by humiliating them. On getting to where she stood, I tapped her, ignoring her friends that were smiling at me. I didn't like them. Bunch of spoilt kids who had no manners. Cherry turned to look at me and her laugh faded into a frown. "You're here to scold me, huh?" "I do not have the time to talk about that with you now. Follow me, we need to talk," "Talk about what, huh?" She asked as she placed her hand on her hip. "If you're going to make a scene here, I could end this party and send you up to your room since you don't know your place," She scoffed but she followed after me anyway. When we got to the terrace, I stopped and turned to cast her a stern glare. "You do not have a single respect for yours
SELAH'S POV; I was still seated in the car, waiting for my mother to return when I saw a car driving out of the gates. I frowned and immediately turned off the headlights to conceal the car from being seen. Who was going out of the palace by this time? I checked the time in the glove compartment area to see that it was just eleven. The party had barely started. Well, I recline my seat, laying low for s while and hoping that I could hide away without being seen. Just then, the car stopped and I felt my body get tense. What if it was one of the guards? If they saw me, I was doomed. The sound of a car door opening and shutting had me rushing towards the glove compartment and pulling it open as I frantically searched for the bottle of elixir glitter my mother had used on her face. She said it usually lasted for up to six hours before wearing off but I didn't care. Just then, I heard a loud knock on the window of the car. It was so raspy and I could read t
