Derek's POV

"Bang!"

I smashed the ashtray in front of me on the ground. How could there be no news from the trap I had set?

Firstly, the identities of those individuals could not be found, and secondly, there were no traces of their whereabouts.

I thought they would soon make a request, but a whole week had passed, and there had been no follow-up.

I couldn't understand why those guys took the risk of kidnapping my child but didn't come to me for a greater benefit.

Not only was the child missing, but Tabitha who followed was also in a life-or-death situation.

Thinking of this, I became even more irritated.

I stood in the office of the packhouse.

The glass of the French window reflected my somewhat haggard face and bloodshot eyes.

These days, I slept at most 2 hours a day, and my wolf Leo also became extremely exhausted.

"Could you sense Tabitha?"

Knowing that the hope was slim, I couldn't help but ask my wolf in my mind.

Tabitha's POV I secretly returned to Seattle with Kyrian. Kyrian thought I took him to another place to play. He hugged me and laughed happily in my arms. In the winter of Seattle, the sky was always gray, and occasionally falling snowflakes added a touch of tranquility and mystery to this city. I brought him to a park in the city center. Although the cold winter kept people staying in their warm homes, there were still some brave citizens and playful children playing in the snow there. I held Kyrian in my arms, his little hand tightly gripping my collar, his eyes shining with curiosity and excitement. We strolled along the snow-covered path, the snow under our feet crunching, adding a touch of liveliness to the quiet winter day. I found a pine tree covered in snow and gently shook its branches. Snowflakes fell like white feathers, landing on Kyrian's head and shoulders. He exclaimed with joy and reached out his little hand to catch those

Derek's POV I looked at Rolf, hoping he'd bring me some good news. But he avoided my gaze, looking awkward. My heart sank. He said, "Alpha Derek, the Omega in charge of procurement found Kyrian near the park all by himself. No sign of Tabitha." Bring that Omega to me," I said, frowning. Soon, the Omega arrived at the packhouse. "Please walk us through what happened," Alvin piped up, his tone gentle. The Omega quickly recounted how she found Kyrian. "So, you didn't see anyone else besides Kyrian?" I couldn't help but ask. "No, when we found him, he was bawling his eyes out, with a helium balloon in his hand. Oh, and he kept calling Mommy." Mommy? Kyrian never called Daphne Mommy, so he must've been calling for Tabitha. Just then, Alvin also stepped forward and whispered in my ear, "Alpha Derek, I asked around. And it was Ms. Hartley who brought Kyrian back. She deliberately left him where our pack's Omega would find him

Derek's POV Standing by the street, I was gearing up to hit the mall myself to look for Tabitha. Just then, Alvin mind-linked me, all urgent-like. "Alpha Derek, we have a lead on Tabitha." His voice rang in my mind, sounding rushed. "Spill it! What is it?" I asked promptly. "One of our guys tailing Tabitha snapped her heading into a shopping mall. And a strange guy was with her," Alvin answered. "Lock down all the mall exits," I ordered immediately. "We've already combed the whole mall, but there's no sign of her. She should've left," Alvin cautiously replied. Angry, I cut the mind-link without answering him. It took me a while to calm myself down. Then, I mind-linked Alvin again. "Send me all the footage." I checked every video, trying to keep my cool, and finally, in one of the videos, I spotted her silhouette at an intersection. Even though her face wasn't captured, I knew it was her, along with a man walking closely beside h

Tabitha's POVThe speedboat was going fast. Sitting on the speedboat, I looked up at the receding shore.I could no longer see Derek's expression clearly, yet somehow, I felt he was smiling. The way he looked at me made me feel that he was a viper, and I was his prey. The thought of that gave me goosebumps all over, and those days being controlled by his sick obsession came back to me.His words kept haunting me. After the speedboat had gone a long way, I still felt deadly cold.I sat motionless, feeling that my soul had been drained.Lucian squatted in front of me and handed me a bottle of milk. I took it, and it was still warm. Guessed it was the temperature of his palm."I can take you back if you're scared," he said.I took a sip. The sweet milk dispelled the gloominess overwhelming me."I don't wanna go back," I said, clutching the bottle. "He'll lock me up in the room forever."Frowning, Lucian looked puzzled."He's a

Tabitha's POVStanding in front of Noah's painting, I could feel his unpolished spirit strongly. In the past, he could already create stunning works using black and white only. And now, the addition of colors enhanced his work even greatly.Staring at his painting, I felt relieved and happy."It's perfect," I said. Then I encouraged him, "Given more opportunities to learn, I'm sure you're gonna be something."Noah lifted his head, his eyes sparkling."I learn from the best, Tabitha. You'll stay here, right?"Feeling bitter, I answered hesitantly, "Yeah."Actually, I had no idea how long I could stay here.Derek's shadow and the unknown risks hung over my head like a sword that might fall at any moment.Noah said with concern, "Tabitha, you look terrible. And you've been moping these days. Are you worried about Kyrian?"Shaking my head gently, I said, "Not at all. Why should I? He eats well and sleeps well, and there are a b

Tabitha's POV Holding the pistol, I felt more powerful than ever. Lucian held me from behind and wrapped my hands in his palms, his voice echoing in the base. "Don't be afraid. Find your target and shoot. Just like this..." In the next second, the piercing sound of a gunshot rang out the shooting range. The gunshots echoed in my ears, and it felt like a shockwave passing through my body. For a second, all I could hear was my heart pounding. It was the first time I had experienced the power of a gunshot so close up. It was so loud that it almost took my breath away. I stood still, trembling involuntarily. Meanwhile, I felt my fingers tightly gripping the trigger, and my palms were sweating from nervousness. Lucian said next to my ear, "Like this. Got it?" His voice, soft yet firm, slowly roused me back to consciousness. I turned to look at him and realized that the shooting had shocked me. He noticed my reaction and qui

Tabitha's POVI picked up dead branches and dried firewood quickly. Suddenly, I felt a churn in my stomach."What's wrong?" Lucian, who was gutting the fish, strode toward me.He squatted on the ground and looked at me.I retched a bit was all. Stroking my stomach, I said awkwardly, "Nothing. I'm just feeling a bit uncomfortable.""Does it hurt a lot?"A drop of water fell on my cheek. I looked up into Lucian's concerned eyes beneath the mask.Water droplets kept dripping down along his hair ends.Only then did I suddenly realize that I was almost entirely held in his arms.I felt myself surrounded by the heat of his body mixed with steam, and somehow, things got weird.Even though we didn't touch physically, being so close to him made me a bit uneasy.Seemed he realized the same thing. He stepped away at once. After that, I said, "No. I'm just feeling a bit nauseous."On this small island, words traveled quickly.

Derek's POV I walked off the helicopter with Kyrian in one arm. I felt how excited he was while standing on the island. He waved his hands and shouted, "Mommy! Mommy!" I sneered, "Seems we're at the right place." Everyone was on high alert. After all, we knew they were armed. No one dared to underestimate such a threat. Rolf was no longer at ease. He gave rapid instructions into the intercom. Soon, several speedboats appeared on the sea, surrounding the island from all sides. More and more werewolves landed on the island. Finding Tabitha's whereabouts was just a matter of time. Kyrian struggled excitedly in my arms, wanting to get down. I put him down only after making sure there was no danger nearby. "Good boy, go find her." Tabitha, there was nowhere to run. Kyrian was like a well-trained military dog, very familiar with the environment on the island. Rolf shouted non-stop, "Kyrian, slow down, or y

He was there to help you."Tabitha did not believe Derek's words. Her eyes were filled with anger and disappointment as she shouted, "Wilmot disappeared as soon as he came back. I couldn't hide it from her.'On an evening with snowflakes drifting down, the sky was shrouded in gloom, and the snow fell gently, covering the entire world in a silver-white veil.Tabitha wrapped her coat tightly and saw Derek again.Since her staged death, Tabitha had only seen Derek through news reports. Now, as she approached him, she was surprised to find that he had become much thinner, his figure appearing particularly frail.Derek was dressed in a black coat, leaning quietly against the car. In just a minute, snowflakes began to fall on his head, accumulating a thin layer of white snow.Tabitha took a deep breath, calming her emotions, and then walked towards Derek.Looking at Derek, her eyes carried

I was afraid it would cause you trouble."Tabitha peeled a few more grapes before setting them aside when Helios indicated he'd had enough. She then looked at Gloria and said slowly, "You weren't afraid of causing me trouble. You were afraid I would leave, weren't you?"Gloria was taken aback, about to argue, but Tabitha saw through her, "Every time you lie, you subconsciously avert your gaze, fearing I'll see through you."Gloria, in a fit of exasperation, covered her face with a blanket, "You two are tru

Third person's POVDerek's face contorted with pain as he continued, "After Tabitha faked her death, I suspected what had happened. I was torn at the time, wanting to bring her back, but I also understood that doing so would only repeat past mistakes. So, I protected her within my control and waited silently. Gloria, I swear, I won't hurt her again."A hint of pleading appeared on Derek's face as he went on, "I'm asking for your help not out of selfishness. Tabitha's illness isn't fully healed, her body hasn't recovered, and with two children in tow, she wouldn't be able to protect herself if danger arises."Gloria had never seen Derek so humble. She remembered how Derek had always approached her with a condescending attitude four years ago.Derek continued, "You are Tabitha's friend, and your starting point should be considering her safety, right? He plans to take Tabitha away."Derek, with his hands behind his back and a furrowed brow, spoke with a melancholic expression, "Lucian intends to take more than just Ayla—Tabitha as well. She has always sought opportunities to leave me, and this presents her with an excellent chance.""What should we do? Should we stop him now? Otherwise, with his capabilities, if he truly takes Tabitha a

Tabitha's original goal had been to find her two children and Jasper. The children were found, but Jasper was without a trace. However, she couldn't search aimlessly without a target.Thinking of Derek's anxious appearance last night, it was clear he still had feelings for her.Gloria's text warning Tabitha to be careful of Derek came to Tabitha's mind again.Tabitha felt she had overlooked some subtle details. What exactly had she missed? It seemed a key point was missing, and once found, it would connect all the events."I don't know. I just wanted to find the children, but I didn't expect to court death. And Derek's attitude towards me is ambiguous. Outside this cabin, I don't know what awaits me," Tabitha said, her face full of entanglement.Seeing her struggle, Lucian took a big gulp of mineral water and mustered the courage to say, "Have you severed ties with him?"Tabitha nodded,

Ayla is still on the island. Tabitha will go to see her."Rolf nodded in agreement, "Understood."Derek added with caution, "Remember, Lucian has a strong ability to detect surveillance, so do not get too close."Rolf responded, "Yes, Alpha Derek. We will handle it immediately."Turning to Alvin, Derek instructed, "Investigate the identities of those deceased men thoroughly."Derek pondered whether Tabitha's survival had been leaked, perhaps when she was seen on the boat. The assailants had been ruthless, and if not for Lucian's timely arrival, Tabitha could have been in grave danger.
