Derek's POV

Leaving home, I drove to the Amber's Eye Pack.

As soon as I walked into the packhouse, I saw Mark. I guessed he was here for Daphne as well.

He was already devastated because of Holly, and now he looked extremely worn out after what happened to Daphne.

Seeing him like that, I felt bad for him.

I comforted, "Mark, cheer up. I'm sure Daphne's alive, or they wouldn't have made such a big fuss to take her away."

Mark sighed, "Even if she's alive, I'm afraid she's barely hanging in there..."

Justin slammed the table abruptly. "Who on earth could be so bold? Laying hands on her in public!"

I knew the pack's development meant the world to Justin.

He actually valued Daphne, hisonly heir, a lot.

"The current proof shows it's Poison and Wolf Shadow," I said calmly.

Justin's expression changed drastically as he roared with anger, "No fucking way!"

He seemed a bit too agitated, which was kinda weird.

I like this book…I really do. But it’s all over the place. There are so many different avenues to this story. And new characters are introduced constantly, without giving closure to the old characters who are no longer mentioned in the story.

Tabitha's POV After Kyrian finished eating, I carried him to the bathroom for a bath. Sitting in the bathtub, he kept splashing the water on me, grinning from ear to ear. I joked, "You bad boy. If you splash me again, I'll splash you back!" Just then, the bathroom door opened. I turned to see Derek standing in the doorway, and I barely had time to wipe that smile off my face. Unlike me, Kyrian's eyes lit up when he saw Derek. He sweetly called out, "Daddy!" Kyrian's smile could make one forget all the unhappy things. Derek walked over, reaching out and stroking his head. "Good boy." I glanced at Derek, whose usually gloomy and indifferent face was now filled with warmth. Turned out he adored Kyrian this much. But his smile kinda stung my eyes. I guess he'd forgotten about the baby he lost—the one that never even saw the world. I put down the towel and said in a cold tone, "Help him with the bath. I'll go change.

Tabitha's POV The moment I hung up the phone, I was buzzing with excitement. I felt so lucky. Just as I thought I had reached a dead end, suddenly, a new clue came up. I asked Chloe to look after Kyrian. She glanced at the time and asked, "Tabitha, where are you off to at this hour?" "I've gotta handle something urgent," I replied. "But Alpha Derek said that you better not go out tonight," she reminded me. I explained it to her briefly. Seeing I was determined to leave, she had to let me go. The bodyguards wanted to rush up and stop me, but I had already gotten into Klein's car. I glanced in the rearview mirror at the cars tailing behind us and asked, my face solemn, "Klein, can you shake them off?" For some reason, I didn't want Derek to know that I was looking into this. I just wanted to throw the evidence in his face when I figured everything out. "Of course. Sit tight," replied Klein. Klein was no ordi

Derek's POV Dressed in neat clothes, I walked next to Mark. After exquisite disguise, right now, I was just like an inconspicuous bodyguard. Our destination was an ancient castle dating back to the last century. According to the agreed arrangement, Mark and I got out of the car in the distance and walked there. As soon as we arrived, we saw the rusty iron gate open automatically as if welcoming us in silence. The castle was built by some foreigners, and now, they still owned it. Since it had been deserted for a long time, wild roses crept all over the walls. In the dim light, it made me feel like I was in a medieval vampire mansion. A few crows were perched on the walls, adding to the eerie atmosphere. Inside, it was dead quiet. The only sounds were the thud of our heavy Martin boots on the ground. I remained silent and followed Mark closely, eyes peeled for anything out of the ordinary. As we stepped into the courtya

Derek's POV Since I wasn't allowed in, I quietly hid under the eaves. I had already scouted the cameras nearby, and it was easy peasy for me to disable them for a while. A few minutes later, the cameras froze on the same feed while I began to observe the structure of the castle. I moved through the darkness like a black panther, silently sneaking in through the pipes on the ground floor. The castle was so empty that it made me uneasy, and even my footsteps echoed like a wild soundtrack. In the late night, only a few old wall lamps cast a faint light down the hallway, while everything else was swallowed up by darkness. Suddenly, some piano tunes sliced through the silence of the night. It was "MARIAGE D'AMOUR." It should be that mysterious Madam Rose, I figured. In a place like this, the originally soothing melody sounded creepy. I guessed Mark must be going up the stairs along with the sound of music. Like him, I found ther

Tabitha's POV I followed Klein closely, both of us wearing masks that matched the mysterious atmosphere of the castle. Klein swapped out his usual blue sapphire ring for an opal one. The change, though small, seemed to presage an unusual evening. Entering the gate, I heard the sound of a piano from the top floor just as two crows swooped past. The rose vines looked enchanting and mystical in the dim light. A gust of wind blew, and though it was almost summer, I suddenly had goosebumps crawling up my back. Klein deliberately lowered his voice. "Don't be afraid. Just stay close to me. Don't do or say anything later." I nodded. After all, seeing Elena was the only goal I came here today. Just as we entered the hall, the piano sound ceased abruptly. The whole place felt like it went into silent mode. Two people came towards us, their footsteps hurried and disordered. As they got closer, I recognized them right away, even

  • Alpha's Wife Hunt   Chapter 220

Tabitha's POV I stood outside the door, my heart pounding as I waited to see Elena's face. Crystal, feeling my mood, was restless in my mind. I took a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves. But I still unconsciously clenched the folds of my shirt. Before, I was out in the open while Elena was pulling all the strings from the shadows. And now, our positions were reversed, and she didn't even know I was here. How could I not be excited when the truth was just around the corner? As the door slowly opened, a woman in a white dress walked in. She was tall and slender, with a mask on her face, and her exposed skin looked smooth and fair. I was dying to see the face hidden behind this mask. Her legs looked normal. Presumably, she deliberately disguised herself as a janitor with a leg problem and darkened her face to stay under the radar. The wind swirled around her dress. If I hadn't known she was Elena, I would think she wa

Tabitha's POV In this dimly lit room, I scrutinized Elena's face. For countless times, I had pictured in my mind what this woman would look like—envisioning a fierce countenance, perhaps even marred by a twisted expression. However, the fact in front of me was telling a different story. I once saw the photos of Zack, the former Beta of the Black Thorn Pack, when he was young. She inherited Zack's perfect features and yet she looked more delicate. Her face mirrored her father's, especially in the captivating depth of her eyes. She had delicate facial features and long hair, making her look exceptionally pure. Anyone who didn't know her past would think that she was still in college. At this moment, the mystery in my mind finally unraveled. I was right. The culprit was no one else but Elena! Thinking about the Silver Moon Pack, John, and all the pain I had endured in the past two years, I felt rage surging within me.

Mark's POV On the top floor, the air was filled with the fragrance of roses. They were in full bloom as if hosting a party that only I could perceive. I stepped onto the ground covered with petals, my gaze drawn to a woman sitting in front of a black piano. As the son of Justin, the Alpha of the Amber's Eye Pack, I inherited the sharp senses of the werewolves. Yet, amidst the floral aroma, I detected something extraordinary. She wore a black evening gown adorned with rose patterns along the hem, blending seamlessly with the blossoms around her. The gown bestowed upon her an air of elegance and enigma. Her skin emitted a radiant glow in the dim light, pulling me in without me even realizing it. As her soft fingertips landed on the last note on the piano keys, the music abruptly stopped, and silence took over the space. She didn't turn around, so I broke the silence. "Madam, as per your request, I'm here." My voice echoed on the ro

You can leave now.""Thank you.""However, the helipad is a bit far. You'll need to walk there.""That's fine," Tabitha waved it off.Wrapped in a thick down jacket, she buried her face in the hood. She felt as though someone was watching her, but she didn't dare look back. She was afraid that if she turned around, she wouldn't be able to leave. In her heart, she kept repeating, Don't look back. Just keep walking.Behind the curtains, Derek held Kyrian, who was crying silently. Kyrian reached out toward the empty air, as if trying to grab the hem of Tabitha's coat."Dad, I don't want Mom to leave. Will she abandon me?""No, she loves you. How could she abandon you? I'm just scared... scared you'll leave me," Kyrian said, his voice trembling slightly."Silly boy, didn't I tell you? You and your siblings are my most precious treasures. I love you so much, and I'll visit you often," Tabitha said gently. Then, she noticed the cord around Kyrian's neck and gently pulled it out. It was the small lock she'd designed for him years ago."I made this for you. It's engraved with my hopes for you, 'May you grow up happy and healthy every day.'"Kyrian reached out his hand. "Mom, you can't lie to me. You have to come see me again."Their fingers hooked together in a pinky promise, and Tabitha smiled softly."Okay, I promise. Third person's POVIn such a short time, Kyrian had already figured out his place in Tabitha's heart. He knew exactly where her soft spots were and used his natural childlike tears as a "weapon" to try to keep her from leaving.Though this might not make Tabitha happy, she couldn't bring herself to refuse him. What parent could say no to a child crying for candy?Especially when that child was the one she owed so much to, the one she wanted to give the entire world to.But he didn't want the world. He just wanted Tabitha to stay."I..." Tabitha started to speak, but Kyrian cut her off."Mom, I love you so much, and you love me, and my siblings too. I already don't have a complete family. Do you want my siblings to grow up without a dad, only imagining what he looks like, envying other kids' happy families? Mom, haven't you heard? A happy, complete childhood can heal a person for life, but an incomplete one takes a lifetime to heal."

Third person's POV"Back then was back then. Now is now. But I promise you, no matter what happens, I'll always love you," Tabitha said softly, gently stroking Kyrian's head. Her hand brushed through his soft fur, the warmth of a mother's love flowing through her touch.Kyrian's voice was small, tinged with hope. "Mom, can you spare a little love for Dad? He's actually kind of pitiful."His eyes showed sympathy for Derek. In his heart, both his parents were his greatest loves, and he longed for a complete family."There are plenty of people in this world who love your dad. He doesn't need mine," Tabitha replied, her tone carrying a hint of stubbornness. Despite her lingering feelings for Derek, the pain of the past made it hard for her to forgive."But to Dad, you're like oxygen to a fish. A fish can't live without oxygen," Kyrian said, snuggling closer to Tabitha. He pressed his body against hers, as if clinging to her love would make it st

Kyrian realized that the training grounds looked completely different from this angle—probably because his mother was by his side.Tabitha smiled softly, her voice warm. "I chose your name. You were born with all my love.""Mom, you must have loved Dad a lot back then," Kyrian said, looking up with curious eyes."Yes, very much," Tabitha admitted honestly. "No matter how I feel about your dad now, you are my precious child, born after seven months of carrying you. Your dad took you away, and I didn't even know you existed. That's why I missed so many years of your life. But you need to know, I thought about you every single day. There wasn't a moment when I didn't miss you or wonder about you. Third person's POVKyrian watched nervously as Tabitha cleaned and dressed his wounds. He didn't dare breathe too loudly, his eyes glued to her every move. His gaze was filled with dependence and longing.Every now and then, he'd glance quickly at Derek, his eyes questioning, desperate for reassurance that this wasn't a dream."Dad, is Mom really back?" His voice trembled, carrying the fragility and hope unique to a child.Derek reached out and gently tapped his nose. "Silly boy, she's really here."Kyrian's tense body relaxed slightly, and a shy smile crept onto his face. When Tabitha applied the ointment a little too firmly, he winced but stayed silent. His hands gripped the hem of his shirt, his knuckles turning white from the pressure. After all this time, Kyrian still wouldn't listen to him.Azazel had wanted to teach him a lesson and assert his dominance in front of the others. But Kyrian was tougher than he'd expected. Instead of backing down, he even fought back with a fierce determination that burned in his eyes. What's wrong with him? "How can they bully him like this? He's already struggling!"Derek held her back. "Tabitha, don't act rashly. This place isn't just about physical training for him."Tabitha frowned. "Then what else is he here for?"Derek explained, "For people like us, growing up means training alongside peers who'll become your most trusted allies—like Alvin and Rolf. These are the people who'd take a bullet for you on the battlefield. If Kyrian grows up sheltered, handed a team of strangers, do you think they'd truly respect or protect him? One wrong move, and he could end up dead."Tabitha's anger began to fade. "What are you saying?"Derek's tone grew serious. "He's not just training his body. He's learning to lead, to earn the loyalty of these kids. They'll b
