Chapter 102

Karl was holding Gabbi on the bed. Rayna could tell they'd both been crying. Just standing in the doorway she could feel the grief they were going through. And it hurt her heart.

She couldn't even imagine. If she lost her twins, she'd rather die than live. That thought scared her. It wasn't a thought she wanted to dwell on. They were lying very still, eyes open staring off at nothing.

Uncertain as to what to do, she slowly approached the bed. Gabbi looked at her as she got close. The pain she saw in her eyes was enough to take her breath. She made up her mind what to do.

Rayna laid down beside Gabbi and wrapped her arms around her. Gabbi turned to her side facing Rayna and put her forehead on Rayna's chest and started crying again. Huge sobs wracked her body.

Karl started to get up, but Rayna grabbed his wrist and put it back around Gabbi and held on to it. She only had her comfort to give so that's what she did. He squeezed her hand in thanks. Then wrapped it back around Gabbi.
