Stephanie’s hands trembled as she held the syringe Zita had given her, her heart pounding as though it might give her intentions away before she even began. Zita’s words echoed in her mind, “You don’t have to do this, Stephanie. Just tell Damien the truth. He might understand.”

But Stephanie shook her head, firming her resolve. “No, Zita. He’s been so reluctant about this sorceress, and I know he won’t agree if I just ask. I’ll… I’ll find a way to make him fall asleep. It’s for Kayla, I have to try.” Her voice faltered, and she looked away, suddenly feeling a pang of guilt.

Zita laid a hand on her shoulder, her voice gentle but practical. “Damien is an alpha, Stephanie. He’s always alert, even when he’s tired. But there are ways to make this easier.” Her eyes twinkled mischievously. “Seduce him, wear him out. Men tend to relax more after lovemaking. Then, if he’s still awake, suggest a run. Even an alpha can’t resist fatigue forever.”

Stephanie blinked, taken aback by the suggestion,

Stephanie lay beside Damien, his arm heavy and comforting around her. His breathing was steady and content, so different from the tension that had surrounded them earlier. She could feel his warmth, his trust, and it made the guilt in her heart swell. She closed her eyes, exhaustion threatening to pull her into sleep, but she fought it, knowing what lay ahead. When Damien’s breathing deepened, signaling he was finally asleep, Stephanie carefully slid out of his embrace. Her heart pounded as she crept across the room to the dresser, where she’d hidden the syringe Zita had given her. She hesitated, staring at the small vial attached to it, knowing how it would feel to draw blood from her mate. As she lifted the syringe, she whispered, “Moon Goddess, please forgive me. And Damien... I hope one day you’ll understand.”She padded back to the bed, barely daring to breathe as she approached him. Her hands trembled as she leaned over, reaching for his arm with the syringe poised. Just as she

Stephanie sat at the edge of the bed, clutching the blood sample in her hand, staring vacantly at the wall. It felt like she was trapped in a nightmare, where no matter what she did, everything around her only grew more chaotic. Her heart ached with the realization of how things had spiraled—how she’d deceived Damien and how, despite her best efforts, nothing seemed to feel right. The fear of losing everything—the pack, her children, even Damien's trust—hovered over her like a dark cloud.Just then, the door creaked open, and she looked up, her breath catching as she saw Damien standing there. He was holding something wrapped in cloth. Without a word, he walked over to her and extended it. "Here," he said quietly, his voice flat and distant. "This is the hybrid blood and dragon scales."Stephanie took the items from him, her fingers trembling as she looked down at them. She tried to meet his eyes, to say something, anything, to explain herself, but his gaze was cold and unreadable. W

As evening settled over the pack grounds and Damien still hadn't returned, Stephanie began to feel anxiety grow within, gnawing at her relentlessly. She tried to keep her thoughts steady, but the uncertainty threatened to consume her. Sitting alone in her room, her mind raced with every possible outcome, each thought darker than the last. Finally, unable to sit idle any longer, she left her room and went to find Chris and Zita. When she found them in the hall, her face must have revealed the weight of her worry, as Chris immediately stepped forward, a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Stephanie, you’re trembling," he said softly. "What’s wrong?"Stephanie's composure broke, and she began to cry, her voice trembling. "Damien hasn’t come back, Chris. I... I don’t know what to do. What if he’s angry with me for trying to take his blood without asking?" She looked at Zita, a flash of regret tightening her face. "Maybe I made a terrible mistake.”Zita bit her lip, a mixture of guilt and c

Stephanie felt torn apart, because of the choices she had been forced to make. She knew she had no other option, she would have to take matters into her own hands. She was a mother, and her instinct to protect her children overpowered every other feeling. She took a deep breath, bracing herself for the decision she had made. ‘I’ll do the ritual. Tonight.' The words felt final in her mind, like a weight sinking to the bottom of her chest. ‘Damien will understand… or at least, I hope he will.’The problem lay with how she would convince her children. Kayla, especially, wouldn’t understand why they were doing this without their father’s presence. She glanced at her daughter and Caleb as they played in the living room, unaware of her turmoil. She forced a smile, stepping forward to join them.“Hey, guys,” she said softly, sitting down beside them.Caleb looked up, his eyes bright. “Mom! Is dad back?”She forced her smile wider, trying to keep her voice steady. “Actually… Your dad wants t

As Stephanie stepped back into the clearing, her hands clutching the items, a heavy silence fell over the night. The sorceress turned to her, her eyes glinting with something dangerous as Stephanie held out the vial of hybrid blood, the scales, and the syringe of Damien’s blood.Stephanie’s breath caught as the sorceress’s lips curled into a slow, triumphant smile. She reached out, taking the items with a possessive eagerness, and held them up to the moonlight.“Finally,” the sorceress murmured, her voice almost a purr. Her fingers brushed the vial, her eyes glittering with an otherworldly gleam. She chuckled, an unsettling sound that sent shivers down Stephanie’s spine. But as the sorceress brought the items closer to inspect them, her expression shifted. Her smile faltered, her brow furrowing as she examined the vial more closely, turning it over in her hands. Her face twisted with confusion, and then with fury. Her eyes snapped back to Stephanie, blazing with anger.“These… these a

Stephanie felt the ground sway beneath her as the sorceress's furious tirade rang out through the trees. The sorceress paced back and forth, her voice dripping with contempt. Her eyes, now darkened with malevolent power, gleamed with a mixture of triumph and anger.“You think I’m a mere pawn, Alpha Damien,” the sorceress spat, addressing the empty air as if Damien were standing before her. “You send your pathetic excuses, your imitation trinkets. You insult my craft as if I’m some common conjurer! I could bring your whole pack to its knees.”Stephanie’s heart raced, each word from the sorceress stinging like a slap. She tightened her hold around Caleb and Kayla, who were both trembling against her sides. Her mind whirled in confusion. Why hadn’t Damien told her the truth about the items? Was this some kind of strategy? Or had he truly abandoned them to face the consequences alone? As if in answer to her racing thoughts, a sudden, powerful voice cut through the darkness.“No one is bri

Stephanie’s head spun as she tried to absorb what she was hearing. She blinked, trying to make sense of the two women facing each other—the sorceress, dark and twisted with anger, and Althea, serene and radiant, standing as though the world around them was still. The contrast between them couldn’t have been starker."What... what do you mean by ‘sister’?" Stephanie whispered, unable to hide the shock in her voice. The word felt strange, foreign in this context. She had assumed Althea was a lone figure, a guardian of some otherworldly origin. But for her to be related to this… monster? The sorceress, whose name Stephanie finally learned was Laila, let out a low, mocking laugh. Her eyes narrowed as she glanced between Althea and Stephanie, clearly enjoying the surprise.“Oh, yes,” Laila sneered, her lips curling into a twisted smile. “Althea here is my sister. My sweet, perfect, infuriating older sister.” Her gaze snapped to Althea, dark and dripping with resentment. “But I suppose she

She raised her hands, and a soft light began to emanate from her fingertips, shimmering with a soft, golden glow that seemed to pulse with life itself. In contrast, Laila seethed with fury, her movements erratic and filled with hostility. Her fingers twitched, dark energy sparking from her hands and curling around her like smoke. Her eyes, sharp and venomous, locked onto Althea’s with a hatred that seemed to consume her.“Is that all you have, dear sister?” Laila sneered, her voice dripping with mockery. “All those years and you’re still playing the little saint.”Althea’s gaze was steady, unphased by Laila’s taunts. “Laila, this doesn’t have to end like this. You’re my sister. We can still make things right.”Laila’s laugh was harsh, full of scorn. “Make things right?” she spat. “There is no right. There’s only power, and you’re to

Damien stood on the edge of the field overlooking the lush greenery of parts of the pack territory. He glanced around at the pack members beginning their morning routines and took a deep breath, his mind elsewhere. It was Hank's invitation that lingered in his thoughts—a trip to South Africa, a vacation that had taken on a life of its own in his mind, fueled by encouragement from Stephanie and the children.“I think you should go," Chris had told him one evening, sensing Damien's hesitation. "You've been carrying this pack for years, barely taking a moment for yourself. Let me handle things here for a little while. I owe you that much—and more."Damien had turned to his beta, touched by Chris's words. "Chris, you know since after the whole ordeal we have faced, I planned on never stepping out of the pack for years to come”Chris gave a light chuckle, patting Damien's shoulder with a brotherly confidence. Stephanie and Damien stood together, watching Caleb and Kayla play with the other children, their faces glowing with happiness.Suddenly, Chris approached, his arm around Zita, both of them laughing softly. “Alpha,” Chris began. “Zita and I have been talking, and we… We'd love to exchange our vows and officially become mates tonight, with all of you here to witness it. It feels right on a night like this.”Damien’s face lit up with surprise, then softened with a deep warmth. “Chris, I can’t think of a better moment. No one deserves this more than you. You’ve stood by me, through every storm and every success. It’s an honor to have you both join as mates on this special night.”Chris nodded, visibly moved, and his hand tightened around Zita’s. “Thank you, Da

I’ll wear it proudly,” she replied, clasping the pendant close to her heart.Jane approached next, holding a delicate painting of a moonlit forest scene. “It’s a reminder of home,” Jane said softly. “Those times you felt lost, but now you have gotten all you deserve because you are a good person.”Stephanie’s eyes shone with gratitude as she took the gift.

She was about to step fully into the role of Luna, something that had once seemed unimaginable. Though she had faced endless trials and tribulations, she had come full circle, returning to the place where she now felt a profound sense of belonging. In the early morning hours, she heard a gentle knock at her door. “Mom?” Caleb’s voice whispered through the door.Stephanie rose and opened the door to find Caleb standing there, looking every bit as anxious as she felt. He began to speak but kept stopping, clearly struggling to find the right words.“Mom, are you… excited?” he finally asked, his voice barely more than a whisper.Stephanie placed her hands on his shoulders. “More than you can imagine,” she replied softly. “I’m nervous too, just like you.” She squeezed his shoulders reassuringly. “But

As they settled down for breakfast, the atmosphere was light with laughter and the occasional clink of silverware. Stephanie stirred, blinking sleepily as the trauma of the previous night’s ordeal washed over her. She glanced beside her to see Damien, Kayla, and Caleb, all nestled close together, their faces peaceful in sleep. The children had insisted on sleeping with them that night, clinging to the safety and warmth they found between them after the terrifying events they'd endured. Stephanie had found no reason to say no; in fact, their closeness had provided her with a rare sense of calm.Taking a deep breath, Stephanie gently placed her hand on Damien’s shoulder, whispering his name as she brushed back the strands of hair that had fallen across his face.
