Damien paced restlessly across the study, glancing at the clock for what felt like the hundredth time. Hours had passed, and still no sign of Stephanie. She had left without a word, without telling anyone where she was going, and now the sinking feeling in his stomach was growing heavier by the minute.

"Where the hell is she?" he muttered to himself, running a hand through his hair. His wolf was restless too, growling in his mind, urging him to take action. But Damien resisted, telling himself that maybe she just needed some time to clear her head.

But what if she didn’t come back?

The thought hit him like a punch to the gut, and he stopped pacing, staring out of the window at the darkening sky. Had she left him? Had she taken the bold decision and run off for her own mental peace? The weight of their recent troubles, the sorceress’s warning, and the unsettling events around the pack were enough to make anyone break. But Stephanie? No, she wouldn’t just leave…would she?

I am getting tired of all the bad news. I really like these characters and at this point want a happy conclusion. Ironically I say that as an ex black magician.

Damien crossed his arms, his gaze hardening as he stood before the sorceress. "A ritual tonight?" His voice was low, though a hint of agitation crept in. "Isn’t that too abrupt? Kayla’s just a child, and she has no idea what’s happening. I’d like to explain things to her first before subjecting her to anything." His protective instinct flared; this was his daughter they were talking about, not some pawn in a supernatural game. The sorceress’s eyes darkened, her lips curling into a sneer. "I hope you didn’t summon me here to waste my time, Alpha," she hissed, her voice sharp and cold. "The spirits don’t wait for you to be ready. If you want your pack to survive, you do as I say, when I say it!"Damien growled low in his throat, his wolf rising at the challenge. His eyes narrowed, the tension in his body rippling as if he might snap at any moment. Stephanie, sensing the danger, quickly stepped between them, her heart pounding in her chest."Please," Stephanie said hurriedly, casting a n

As Stephanie made her way back to her family she felt a great deal of tension rise slightly when she saw Damein sitting with Caleb and Kayla, their little faces filled with confusion. He had been explaining the situation to them, trying to protect them from the harsh reality while not hiding the truth entirely.“I know she looks scary,” Damien was saying as Stephanie entered, “but the sorceress is here to help us fight against some bad forces. It's nothing for you to worry about.”Kayla's small voice broke through the air. “Am I the bad force, Daddy? Is that why she’s asking for me?”The words stung. Damien knelt beside her, cupping her small face in his hands, his gaze intense but soft. “No, sweetheart. You’re the bravest, kindest girl I know. You’re special, but in the best way. The sorceress just wants to make sure that no one—no force—tries to hurt you or anyone else in the pack.”Kayla’s wide eyes searched his face for reassurance. She wanted to believe him, but fear clung to her

Damien entered the guest room where the sorceress was allotted to stay. She was sitting, draped in a shadowy cloak that seemed to absorb the faint light from the table lamp. She looked up at him with a gaze as cold and calculating as ever, her bony fingers drumming softly on the armrest of the chair. The air in the room was almost suffocating, and Damien could already feel the unease creeping under his skin."I need to know what this ritual entails," Damien said, his voice low and measured. Though he had brought her here, the idea of this ritual—of what it would take—unsettled him more than he cared to admit. The sorceress smiled, but it wasn’t a kind smile. It was the smile of someone who knew things, dark things. “I have most of what I need already, Alpha,” she began, her voice raspy, like dry leaves rustling in the wind. “But there are a few specific elements that must be gathered.”Damien crossed his arms over his chest. “What elements?”The sorceress leaned forward slightly, her

In the silence of the hallway, they stood together, leaning on each other. Before Stephanie spoke"Damien," Stephanie began softly, looking up at him with worry in her eyes. "What exactly did the sorceress say she needed for the ritual?"Damien let out a deep breath, his expression hardening as he recalled the sorceress’s unsettling request. "She said she has most of what she needs," he started, running a hand through his hair, "but… she asked for alpha blood. My blood, specifically, since the ritual is for Kayla. And…” He hesitated, his lips pressing into a thin line.Stephanie’s heart pounded in her chest. "And?" she prompted, her voice barely above a whisper, already dreading the answer.“And she also asked for the blood of a hybrid wolf,” Damien continued, his voice strained. “And… a dragon scale.”Stephanie’s eyes widened, her hand instinctively flying to her chest as if she could steady her rapid heartbeat. “A dragon scale?” she echoed, her voice shaky. “Why would she need some

Laila watched Caleb run from the room, her eyes narrowing in confusion as her fingers twitched slightly from the shock of what had just happened. Her initial plan had been simple: touch the boy, manipulate his thoughts, and probe his mind for any useful information. She had done it countless times before with others, but this… this was different. The moment her palm had made contact with his head, a jolt of raw energy had surged through her, forcing her to pull back. It was like nothing she had experienced before. The magic had recoiled from Caleb, sending shock waves up her arm. It was as if some force had shielded him, blocking her from accessing his thoughts.‘Impossible.' Her mind raced with possibilities, none of them making sense. Laila had centuries of experience with mind control, manipulation, and reading thoughts. She had done it to wolves far older, alphas far more powerful. But this… this boy had something—something she hadn’t anticipated. Her fingers trembled as she clenc

As they settled into their seats at a quiet, sunlit corner of the pack’s outdoor café, Zita leaned across the table, flashing a warm smile. She reached for Stephanie's hand, squeezing it gently. “It’s good to see you outside for a change,” she said. “I thought some fresh air and good food might help take your mind off things.”Stephanie managed a soft smile, though her mind was already drifting back to the problems at hand. “Thank you, Zita. It does feel good to get out. I know you’re right about this—taking a break is probably exactly what I need.” Her words were sincere, but the worry was still evident in her gaze, her smile faltering as she glanced down at the papers Zita had handed her. Zita’s eyes twinkled with excitement as she tapped the progress report on the upcoming Luna ceremony. “Look, everything’s on schedule. You’ll have a proper Luna ceremony—something worthy of all you’ve been through and all you are to this pack.”Stephanie nodded as she looked over the report, but h

Stephanie’s hands trembled as she held the syringe Zita had given her, her heart pounding as though it might give her intentions away before she even began. Zita’s words echoed in her mind, “You don’t have to do this, Stephanie. Just tell Damien the truth. He might understand.”But Stephanie shook her head, firming her resolve. “No, Zita. He’s been so reluctant about this sorceress, and I know he won’t agree if I just ask. I’ll… I’ll find a way to make him fall asleep. It’s for Kayla, I have to try.” Her voice faltered, and she looked away, suddenly feeling a pang of guilt.Zita laid a hand on her shoulder, her voice gentle but practical. “Damien is an alpha, Stephanie. He’s always alert, even when he’s tired. But there are ways to make this easier.” Her eyes twinkled mischievously. “Seduce him, wear him out. Men tend to relax more after lovemaking. Then, if he’s still awake, suggest a run. Even an alpha can’t resist fatigue forever.”Stephanie blinked, taken aback by the suggestion,

Stephanie lay beside Damien, his arm heavy and comforting around her. His breathing was steady and content, so different from the tension that had surrounded them earlier. She could feel his warmth, his trust, and it made the guilt in her heart swell. She closed her eyes, exhaustion threatening to pull her into sleep, but she fought it, knowing what lay ahead. When Damien’s breathing deepened, signaling he was finally asleep, Stephanie carefully slid out of his embrace. Her heart pounded as she crept across the room to the dresser, where she’d hidden the syringe Zita had given her. She hesitated, staring at the small vial attached to it, knowing how it would feel to draw blood from her mate. As she lifted the syringe, she whispered, “Moon Goddess, please forgive me. And Damien... I hope one day you’ll understand.”She padded back to the bed, barely daring to breathe as she approached him. Her hands trembled as she leaned over, reaching for his arm with the syringe poised. Just as she

“Hey, your break’s over. We need someone clearing tables. Stop lounging around and get back to work,” he snapped, his words cutting through.Hank’s eyes widened, the shock unmistakable as he turned his look back to Cassandra. “Cassandra… you work here?”Cassandra’s shoulders slumped, her eyes dropping to her hands as shame washed over her. “Yes,” she murmured, voice barely audible. “This is my job now, Hank.”Hank’s face softened, his shock giving way to a profound sadness as he took in her worn appearance. He reached out, resting a gentle hand on her arm. “What… what happened to you, Cassandra?”Cassandra took a shaky breath, her voice filled with shame and regret as memories rushed back, memories of the choices she had made, the paths she had chosen, and the arrogance that had blinded her. “I trusted someone,” she began, voice breaking. “A younger man. Damien stood on the edge of the field overlooking the lush greenery of parts of the pack territory. He glanced around at the pack members beginning their morning routines and took a deep breath, his mind elsewhere. It was Hank's invitation that lingered in his thoughts—a trip to South Africa, a vacation that had taken on a life of its own in his mind, fueled by encouragement from Stephanie and the children.“I think you should go," Chris had told him one evening, sensing Damien's hesitation. "You've been carrying this pack for years, barely taking a moment for yourself. Let me handle things here for a little while. I owe you that much—and more."Damien had turned to his beta, touched by Chris's words. "Chris, you know since after the whole ordeal we have faced, I planned on never stepping out of the pack for years to come”Chris gave a light chuckle, patting Damien's shoulder with a brotherly confidence. The night had quieted down slightly as the guests had left, but the heart of the pack remained. Under the glow of the moonlight, laughter and music filled the air, while the remaining pack members continued to dance and celebrate. Stephanie and Damien stood together, watching Caleb and Kayla play with the other children, their faces glowing with happiness.Suddenly, Chris approached, his arm around Zita, both of them laughing softly. “Alpha,” Chris began. “Zita and I have been talking, and we… We'd love to exchange our vows and officially become mates tonight, with all of you here to witness it. It feels right on a night like this.”Damien’s face lit up with surprise, then softened with a deep warmth. “Chris, I can’t think of a better moment. No one deserves this more than you. You’ve stood by me, through every storm and every success. It’s an honor to have you both join as mates on this special night.”Chris nodded, visibly moved, and his hand tightened around Zita’s. “Thank you, Da

As the celebration continued into the evening, the guests began forming a line to present their gifts to the new Luna. Stephanie graciously accepted each one, touched by the thoughtfulness behind every present. Her heart warmed as she saw the way her pack and loved ones had come together to make this day so memorable.Albert, Damien's former gamma and new Alpha of knight pack, presented a beautifully crafted silver pendant adorned with the Moon Goddess symbol. “To remind you of your strength and wisdom, Luna,” he said with a smile, bowing his head in respect.Stephanie took the pendant with a smile, deeply moved. “Thank you, Albert. I’ll wear it proudly,” she replied, clasping the pendant close to her heart.Jane approached next, holding a delicate painting of a moonlit forest scene. “It’s a reminder of home,” Jane said softly. “Those times you felt lost, but now you have gotten all you deserve because you are a good person.”Stephanie’s eyes shone with gratitude as she took the gift.

The night before the Luna ceremony, Stephanie lay wide awake, staring at the ceiling, her thoughts swirling with anticipation and excitement. It was hard to believe the day was finally here. She was about to step fully into the role of Luna, something that had once seemed unimaginable. Though she had faced endless trials and tribulations, she had come full circle, returning to the place where she now felt a profound sense of belonging. In the early morning hours, she heard a gentle knock at her door. “Mom?” Caleb’s voice whispered through the door.Stephanie rose and opened the door to find Caleb standing there, looking every bit as anxious as she felt. He began to speak but kept stopping, clearly struggling to find the right words.“Mom, are you… excited?” he finally asked, his voice barely more than a whisper.Stephanie placed her hands on his shoulders. “More than you can imagine,” she replied softly. “I’m nervous too, just like you.” She squeezed his shoulders reassuringly. “But

Stephanie could feel the children’s excitement building as they made their way through the heart of the pack’s community toward Alicia's shop. Though she had initially considered using a human seamstress, she felt a sense of ease in choosing Alicia, a decision that felt more meaningful now. Alicia was not only an incredible seamstress but also a woman who deeply understood the werewolf world and its sacred ceremonies. Stephanie knew that Alicia’s designs would capture the spirit and traditions of the pack, honoring the connection to the Moon Goddess. When they arrived, Alicia’s shop was warm and inviting, filled with bolts of fabric in rich colors and textures that seemed to glow under the sunlight streaming through the windows. Stephanie took in the scene, feeling a surge of pride for her pack and their traditions. The door swung open, and Alicia looked up, her face breaking into a broad smile when she saw them. “Stephanie!” she exclaimed, her voice filled with genuine delight. “And

As they settled down for breakfast, the atmosphere was light with laughter and the occasional clink of silverware. The events of the past few days felt distant, overshadowed by the warmth of family and the security of home. The children chattered excitedly about their favorite dishes, as Stephanie and Damien exchanged glances, each silently grateful for the peace they now had.Just then, Chris and Zita walked in, both of them beaming, a radiance about them that instantly caught Stephanie’s attention. “Hey! Look who’s finally joining us!” she called out with a welcoming grin."Couldn't resist the smell of breakfast, could you?" Damien added, chuckling as he pulled out chairs for them. Chris laughed, nodding his thanks as he and Zita took their seats at the table, the children greeting them with enthusiastic waves and giggles.“We thought we’d pop in to see everyone before the day fully got underway,” Chris said, giving a warm smile around the table. “But truthfully, Zita and I have som

Stephanie stirred, blinking sleepily as the trauma of the previous night’s ordeal washed over her. She glanced beside her to see Damien, Kayla, and Caleb, all nestled close together, their faces peaceful in sleep. The children had insisted on sleeping with them that night, clinging to the safety and warmth they found between them after the terrifying events they'd endured. Stephanie had found no reason to say no; in fact, their closeness had provided her with a rare sense of calm.Taking a deep breath, Stephanie gently placed her hand on Damien’s shoulder, whispering his name as she brushed back the strands of hair that had fallen across his face. "Damien," she murmured softly, her voice barely audible. He blinked awake, his gaze meeting hers, still clouded with sleep. Slowly, she woke the children too, brushing a soft kiss over each of their foreheads. Kayla’s eyes fluttered open first, followed by Caleb’s, both of them stretching and yawning.A heaviness lay on her heart, an ache t
