Alpha Damien stumbled through the thick forest, his breath ragged and muscles aching from hours of running. His paws barely made a sound as he moved, his heightened senses alert to every rustle of leaves, every snap of a branch. The rogues were relentless, chasing him deeper into unfamiliar terrain, their murderous intent evident in the way they had pursued him without mercy. But now, as he pressed his back against a large oak tree, his ears twitched. The forest was quiet.

Too quiet.

Damien sniffed the air, searching for any trace of their scent, but there was nothing—just the earthy smell of the forest and the distant howl of the wind. It seemed the rogues had given up the chase, at least for now. Slowly, he shifted back into his human form, his chest heaving as he caught his breath, exhaustion hitting him. He sank to his knees, burying his face in his hands.

"How did I get here?" Damien whispered to himself, his voice cracking. "How did I become so blind?"
