ARES POVTWO DAYS LATER The previous day had been dreadful and so was today, not hectic or tiring due to physical strain or anything of that sort, it was just dreadful for the fact that I had nothing to do and my mind was constantly filled with thoughts of Dahlia. I had thought about going to the Pack office, maybe a little time there would have clear my mind and I’ll be too busy to even think about Dahlia, but when I had called Jeremy and told him I was on my way, he said not to bother. “I don’t see the need Ares, there’s hardly anything to do here anyway.” He had replied in a bored tone that lacked enthusiasm. “What do you mean there’s nothing to do at the office?” I had asked in an annoyed tone. “There’s always something to do.” “Well, I became so bored, I decided to do a week’s load of work yesterday and now there’s actually nothing to do.” He had replied. For the first time since I had known Jeremy, I didn’t appreciate his efficiency, other times I’d
KALILA POVMy stay at Dahlia's pack wasn't all that bad; it was an intriguing place, and I actually liked it. However, there was one factor that I had grown so used to, Ares. I had fully settled into Dahlia's room, which was marvellous. It was designed with only the best furniture and a few paintings that I guessed Dahlia had been attracted to. It was a place genuinely befitting a princess. Frankly, I was treated like one, mainly by Dahlia's parents. Her mother had seen to it that all my needs were thoroughly catered for."Oh, dear! No way, you're not to do a thing! Does Ares make you work when he has servants?" she would often ask.She made me feel like a little girl returning from a harsh boarding school. I often wondered how she would react if I were to tell her that I had become a regular at Ares's dreadful dungeon."You would see another level of freak out. She loves Dahlia more than her father. I'm not sure your marriage with Ares would last a second longer," Nova often told me
KALILA POVAngela was thrilled when I broke the news to her. There was a room assigned to her, and after leaving Dahlia's parents, I headed straight there."Come on, Angela," I said, opening the door to the room. "Get your things ready. Let's go home."Her eyes shone with excitement and relief. Before I could close the door and walk away, she jumped to her feet and said hastily, "Your stuff! Don't do anything, ma'am. I'll come to pack your things and then get mine."I nodded, and she followed me to my room. I was getting used to the princess treatment here at Dahlia's pack and the Luna treatment at Ares's pack. Dahlia had quite a life; I concluded as I watched Angela neatly fold and arrange my clothes into boxes. I had brought so many clothes, only to stay for a week. But that wasn't my concern. I wondered how Ares would react. I knew he wouldn't be happy. He might even get angry and throw me into his dungeon. But at least I would be close to him. From there, I could find out what was
KALILA’S POV The door vibrated from the impact as I slammed it violently behind me when I walked into the room, Angela had met me coming up the stairs and from the flustered expression that came to her face, I could tell that she had noticed the contorted look of anger on my face. I felt like a kettle of water on a red hot fire, I was fuming, even as I sat down in front of the mirror by the bed and stared at my face. I didn’t like him, at all. Ares was everything bad to me and I hated the fact that I was tasked with the gruesome mission of keeping such an arrogant man alive. I wouldn’t have minded being on the other side, I really didn’t like him. Although, coming back to the Crescent moon pack, I hadn’t expected him to welcome me with open arms, a hug and perhaps even a kiss. No, I had come back unannounced and I knew he wouldn’t like it. But the direct and harsh in which way he had made it crystal clear to me that my presence was unwanted here got on my nerves. As I kept s
KALILA’S POV For about a day or two, Ares and I didn’t talk to each other, I was still furious with the way he had reacted the day I came back. From the way he was comfortable with not talking to me, I figured that he was also angry with the way I had spoken to him. I was quite curious as to why he didn’t react as he would have normally done, but just maintained a calm profile, it was very unlike him. I had avoided him like a plague, I never walked past his study which I knew he’d be in and might just come out of anytime. I even spent most of my afternoons in the large garden, surrounded completely with pine trees, it was the best I could do for myself and all I had was Nova. She wasn’t just my only companion for that period of time, save for Angela’s sporadic appearances when ever she wanted to inquire if I needed anything. Nova was also a constant reminder to me that I had so many unfinished businesses left, there was still the issue of Ares being poisoned at his coronation
KALILA’S POV In a way I was right about my assumptions, Ares was very reluctant to let me go when I brought up the topic of visiting the Blue moon pack. I was starting to discover how much of a jealous man he actually was and it gave me a slight feeling of satisfaction. I approached him the next day, after a night of deep thoughts and consideration, I knew the Blue Moon pack had to be my next destination. Whatever I could get out of Melissa would be a very important clue in the puzzle I was trying to solve. Ares spent the whole morning in his study and I was forced to go there for the first time. With a gentle knock, I opened the door and he was quite startled to see me. “If you have any questions yet again, I’d advice you-” He started to say with an annoyed look on his face. “No, no, I don’t have any questions, just a request.” I said and stood awkwardly by his desk. He didn’t gesture for me to sit. “Well what is it? You're invading on my time.” He said curtly as he regarded me.
KALILA POV Maybe I had made a huge mistake going to Jahdiel’s pack, or maybe not, there was no way I could have foreseen that he would do such a thing. What was wrong with me? It had been four days now and all I thought about all day was Jahdiel, the daring look in his eyes when he had kissed me. I thought he was crazy, each day when I went over the scene in my mind, I edged closer to the conclusion that he was indeed crazy, but not just that, he was also fearless. That wasn’t a good sign at all, I thought. A man capable of being fearless with handling Ares's business, yes, I was Ares’s business no doubt, was capable of doing anything. Even…even staging an attempted murder on Ares. “Ugh this shit is driving me nuts!” I exclaimed and dropped on the bed with a frustrated sigh. I hated being in the center of something so tangled up. A huge part of me knew that in some way which I was yet to figure out, Jahdiel was an instrumental figure in my quest. I couldn’t stop thinking about
ARES’S POV “What’s going on with her?” I thought with a frown on my face as I returned to my study. I pulled a drawer out and took out a cigarette and a golden lighter from it. “She has been acting funny ever since she came back from that Blue Moon pack, something must have happened there.” “You bet.” Leo concurred and I detected the accusing and suspicious tone in his voice. “She’s definitely been acting all strange, like she’s trying to hide something or shit.” I sat thinking for a long while, I hated the way Dahlia completely occupied my thoughts at times like this. On a certain night, she had been in the living room, staring at the fire that glowed brightly at the fire place. It had started to snow and I guessed she was cold, but there was a fire place in my room too, so I asked her to use that one. She had refused and insisted on staying in the living room. I had been so confused that night and I felt she was doing everything within her powers to avoid me, that was unnatura
