Darian's POV
"Alpha Darian, it has been over three months since we brought to your knowledge the issue of not having an heir to your throne. Mind you, our decision still hasn't changed. If sooner you don't present to us the heir to your throne, we are going to take your pack away from you and give it to another Alpha who can produce an heir who will take over after his reign," one of the supreme Alphas said to me.
The Alpha Council has summoned me and other Alphas from seven different packs for an important meeting. Once I received the message, I knew that it was because of me that they organized the meeting.
The last time we organized the meeting, it was to congratulate me for helping the Alpha of Bloodmoon pack recover his pack from the hands of Rogues, who took him by surprise, and to also let him know that two territories in his pack will be under my control because that was the prize the Alpha council promised to pay any Alpha who succeeded in recovering the pack for him. At the end of the meeting, the supreme Alphas also informed me of my own fate too; they were going to take away my pack from me and give it to another Alpha if I don't soon present to them the heir to my throne. I could clearly see the joy written all over the faces of the other Alphas; they all hated me because I'm the strongest among all of them, and they couldn't wait to take over my pack, but unfortunately for them, I wasn't going to allow that to happen; the news I'm about to announce to them might blow their minds.
"Actually, my lord, I have good news that I have been wanting to announce to you all, but I was patiently waiting for the next meeting because I knew that would be the perfect timing to announce this important news," I said to the supreme Alphas.
"And what is this important news you want to announce to us, Alpha Darian? I hope it has something to do with the heir apparent to your throne?" One of the supreme Alphas asked me.
"Definitely, my lord," I replied with full confidence.
"Okay then, we are all ears," one of the supreme Alphas said to me.
"Well, the good news is that I have found my mate, and she's already three months pregnant, and in three months time she's going to bear me the heir to my throne," I said to them confidently.
I could clearly see the shock written all over the faces of the other Alphas, who would have believed that the ruthless Alpha Darian has finally found his mate, and in addition to that, she's also pregnant.
Actually, I just found out about it the previous night when I went to visit Elena in her room. I wanted to tell her about it, but I don't know why I didn't, despite the fact that Shadow, my wolf, was urging me to tell her. It's probably because of how harshly I have been treating her since she started leaving the palace with me. I don't even know how she is going to take it. The beast who has made her life a living hell is turning out to be his mate; surely that will give her more reasons to despise me.
"Wow! That's really good news, Alpha Darian; that means that your pack isn't going to be given to anyone," one of the supreme Alphas said to me, jerking me back to reality.
"Congratulations, Alpha Darian; we can't wait to see who is going to take after the mighty Alpha Darian." One of the supreme Alphas said to me, and immediately I smiled at him before turning my gaze towards Benson, the Alpha of the Bloodmoon Pack.
"Alpha Benson, you seem not to be happy because of the good news that I just announced," I said to him with a cunning smile.
"I can see that you are very happy, Alpha Darian, because you have found your mate, and soon she will be giving birth to the heir of the throne. But don't be too happy, Alpha Darian, because sooner or later, I will find a way to make you pay for snatching my territories away from me. I never asked for your help, but just as usual, you went and played tough Alpha because you know that by doing so, some of my territories will be given to you," he said to me with a stern tone.
"I hope that you aren't threatening me, Alpha Benson, because if I were in your shoes, you would have done exactly the same thing that I did; so mind how you talk to me because even the supreme Alphas won't stop me from waging war against your weak pack if I desire, and you know what that can mean for you." I threatened him, my eyes peering into his, but he remained silent.
"Enough of all these, both of you," Ethan, the Alpha of the Redmoon Pack, said to us while placing hands on my shoulder, and immediately I glared at him angrily, and he quickly removed his hand from my shoulder.
After the meeting, I quickly mounted my horse and started heading back to the palace while thinking of how I was going to inform Elena that she's my mate and also apologize to her for all my cruelty towards her. As I was still wondering how she was going to react when I informed her, I still couldn't help but wonder if she too wasn't aware that I'm here, mate, or if she knew but decided to keep it to herself because of my cruelty towards her. Even if she did, I still had myself to blame for it.
It didn't take long before I and the guards who had accompanied me to the Alpha Council returned to the palace.
Once I got down from my horse, I started heading towards her room with her heart raising heavily. Surprisingly, this was the first time I had ever felt like this towards someone.
Once I got to the front of the door of her room, I waited and knocked, unlike other times when I would barge into the room without even knocking.
After some minutes of waiting, I got no response, and immediately I knocked again while calling out to her, but still I got no response.
In order to ensure myself that nothing bad had happened to her, I slowly turned the knuckle of the door and opened it, and once I got in, what I saw next almost choked me; she wasn't in the room, and the only little luggage she brought with her the day she came to the palace wasn't in the room either.
Darian's POVAt first, I thought that I was dreaming when I opened the room and noticed that Elena wasn't in the room anymore. In order to ensure myself that I wasn't dreaming, I scrubbed my hand on my face twice, but when I lowered my hand, nothing changed. With my heart pounding heavily, I slowly approached her bed, and there I saw a piece of paper dropped on the bed. I don't know what was wrong with me, but as I took the piece of paper and started unfolding it, my hand kept on trembling like that of a child who had broken a vase and was trying to put it together despite the fact that he knew that it was impossible. After unfolding the piece of paper, I closed my eyes for a few seconds before opening it to read what she wrote on the piece of paper."I know that when you read this, I will already be gone, gone to a place where you will never be able to find me, a place where our paths will never cross again. Right from the first day my step father brought me to your palace I had felt
Elena's POVIt has been over two hours since I have been running through the thick forest. Being in my Wolf form, I was able to maintain my stamina for more than two hours without tiring out despite my pregnancy. While running, the only people I could think about were the guards in the palace. Knowing what Darian was capable of, I knew that he was surely going to slaughter them once he returned to the castle and discovered that I had escaped under their watch. He might even accuse them of being the ones who helped me escape. I pray that the moon goddess forgives me for this and does not also put the blood of those innocent guards on my head.As I was still running, I felt this inner joy within myself because I was finally free from Darian's Citadel, but now the main question was, Where am I running to? Actually, I didn't have any destination in mind before leaving the castle, and right now I still don't know where I'm running; I'm only running to where my legs are taking me while hopin
Elena's POV Once I jerked up from my slumber and saw the two werewolves standing right in front of me and the other still maintaining his sword on my neck, I started trembling in fear."Who are you and what are you doing here?" The voice of the second werewolf echoed angrily."I-I-I," I kept stuttering while thinking of what I was going to tell them. I couldn't possibly tell them who I am or from which pack I came, and the worst part of it all was that I don't even know in which pack I am or if they are rival packs with ours."I told you that she's one of them; can't you see that she's trying to lie to us?" the one who was pressing his sword against my neck whispered to the other, who glared angrily at me, and immediately I swallowed hard. Possibly they were mistaking me for someone else who had done something bad to them in the past."Well, if they thought that the same thing they did to us the other time was going to work on us again, then I'm sorry to say this; they just made a ve
Elena's POVI woke up some hours later and found myself lying on a mat. Once I woke up, the first thought that came to mind was how I was about to get beheaded some hours ago. Immediately, I remembered about it. I jerked up from the mat and started touching my neck to see if I had any wounds on my neck or if they really beheaded me. I placed my head back, but happily, there weren't any wounds on my neck, and my burnt skin had healed by itself. With that, I heaved a sigh of relief before placing my hand on my stomach, and happily, I could still feel my baby kicking.Afterwards, I started looking around the room while wondering where I was and who had also rescued me from the people who wanted to behead me.As these thoughts were still running through my mind, the door of the room suddenly burst open, and immediately an old woman walked into the room.Once she saw me, she smiled at me before approaching me."Hi, my daughter, Are you finally awake?" she asked me before placing her hand
Darian's POVIt has been up to two days since my guards and I started searching for Elena throughout the whole pack and also neighboring packs, but we haven't been able to find her. What is strange about the whole issue is that I haven't been able to close my eyes since all this time, talk less of sleeping. Whenever I try to sleep a little bit, the image of her being captured by one of my rival Alphas comes playing in my head.Meanwhile, the news of her disappearance had spread throughout the whole pack and neighboring packs, and due to this, her life is going to be in more danger wherever she is because if she mistakenly bumps into any of my rival Alphas, they are going to use her to get back to me for all the evil things that I have done to them. I hope that she is safe wherever she is and that the moon goddess also gives me one more chance to claim her back and to correct my past mistakes. As these thoughts were running through my mind, I was jerked back to reality by the footsteps
Darian's POV "What did you say, Alpha Benson?" I asked him while approaching menacingly, my eyes glowing in red.Once he noticed the anger burning in my eyes as I was approaching him, he started taking some steps backward because he knew that he would only be making things worse for himself if he tried attacking me in return. As I was still approaching him, two other Alphas from another pack blocked me in a defensive manner."Alpha Darian, you have to stop this. I hope you know the consequences of what you are about to do." They asked me while trying to block me from going after Alpha Benson, but without much effort, I shoved them out of the road and dashed towards Alpha Benson, who was trying to make his way into the courtroom.Once I caught him, I pinned him on the wall, my red, glowing eyes boring into him. I could clearly see the fear hidden all over his face as he was trying to break free from my grip, but at the same time, he was still trying his best to maintain a calm facial
Elena's POVIt has been over three hours since I started wandering around the thick forest while looking for an ideal place to spend the night. After wandering for over three hours, I finally found another cave, similar to the first one; once I came down from the horse, I drew it by the rope and led it inside the cave before going out and gathering some straws that I gave it to eat.Afterwards, I sat down beside one of the rocks before opening my luggage and bringing out some fruits that I had gathered while wondering around the forest. As I was eating the fruit, I started feeling some pains around my abdomen. With that, my heart skipped. I didn't need to think twice before knowing what was about to happen. In some fractions of seconds, the pain intensified, and immediately I started feeling some liquids streaming down my laps. That was when it dawned on me that my water had already broken. Not knowing what next to do, all I could do was shed tears as the pain kept on intensifying wit
Darian's POVWhen I started perceiving the scent of werewolves around the area, firstly I thought that it was another group of rogues, but the issue was that the scent was different from that of rogues, which literally means that it wasn't rogues but instead another group of werewolves. As these thoughts were running through my mind, I saw the arrows coming in our direction, but I was fast to dodge, contrary to my men who got hit by the arrow. When the werewolves surrounded me and I raised my head and saw their Alpha, my heart skipped immediately."Ciara," I called out to her in an undertone with a surprised tone."Yes, it's me, Darian. Surprised to see me, huh?" She asked me while grinning ear to ear, but I remained silent while staring at her utter disbelief."Lower your weapons; he's a guest of honor, and take his men to the healer before the poison on the arrows starts affecting them," she said to her men. Without hesitating, they lowered their weapons before helping my men, who w
