I went home and cried my eyes out.
I was part of the low class omegas known as the Forsaken. It is said that we were abandoned by the Moon goddess hence the name. We didn't go through heat and were often mistreated. I was probably the only forsaken who experienced heat due to my pheromones imbalance and my father had ensured I kept it a secret. Most alphas wanted nothing to do with us Forsakens as it was seen as a disgrace to have a Forsaken as an official mate.
I cried myself to sleep, wondering how I would be able to survive such betrayal.
The next day, I woke up late with puffy eyes. Amelia had knocked at my door several times in an attempt to wake me up, but I had no energy to get up.
It was late afternoon, and I was really hungry, so I had to get up and eat something. I went to the kitchen and rummaged through, but only found an egg, half-eaten sausage, and two slices of bread. I had to make do with just that. I lazily prepared my food, and as I was about to eat, I felt a sharp pain at the back of my head. It was Amelia; she had hit me again.
"That egg was mine; who gave you permission to try to eat it?" she yelled.
I didn't have the strength to argue with her, so I decided to walk out.
"Jeez, you look like shit. What happened to you?" she said, grabbing my arms in an attempt to pull me back and keep me in place.
"Please let go; I'm not in the mood," I calmly said.
"I was only concerned, but you make it look like I'm bullying you," she said, pissed as she let go of my arms.
I was too hungry for whatever was about to happen, so I needed to get food into my system quickly.
As I made my way to the door, I got a text. It was from Archie, and he wanted us to meet up. My mind was clouded, and I couldn't think of anything else. I quickly got into a taxi and made my way to the location where he had asked to meet up.
It was the Grand Hotel, which was one of the most luxurious hotels around. I needed an explanation; something must have happened; he was probably forced because I know he really cared for me. I kept telling myself these things. I didn't stay till the end of the ceremony, as I was too sad. Maybe Archie didn't go through with it; maybe he changed his mind because of his love for me. I had hope in my heart as I rang the doorbell.
He opened up almost immediately, and as soon as I saw him, he gave me a big hug, and I hugged him back.
"Iris my love, I'm sorry, I'm really sorry," he sobbed.
"It's okay, I'm here now," I said, sobbing too.
We stayed like that for a while until he broke out of the embrace.
"Why were you at the ceremony? I told you to rest home, didn't I?" He said this while holding my face.
I blinked confusingly. Was that the first question he was supposed to be asking? I moved my face from his hands and gave him a little distance.
"You didn't want me to see what I saw; that's why you told me not to go out, right?" I said already irritated.
"The problem I have with you is that you never listen to my request. I asked you just to do a simple thing, and you couldn't. You almost ruined the ceremony," he said, looking me in the eyes.
"Is this really what we should be talking about? You were getting married to another omega while in a relationship with me, and me going out to work is your problem. If I hadn't gone, I probably would have never found out, right? Archie, answer me!" I yelled.
"What is so strange about an alpha mating with an omega? I'm a high-level alpha, and of course I need a high-level omega if I want my pack to be powerful," he said with a straight face and serious tone.
"What?" I was surprised. I couldn't believe what was coming out of his mouth. I stepped away from him as my heart ached. He came closer and held my hands.
"Look, Iris, I really love you, but you are a forsaken, and a forsaken will do my pack no good. What will people say if I'm mated to you? I am the heir to the Addams, and I need a high-level omega for a chance of birthing the Ultima. You know how important this is to me," he said, holding my hands tight.
"Please let go of me," I said almost in a whisper as I felt my legs trembling.
"Please listen to me. Iris, my official mate may be Ethel Lane, but that doesn't mean we should end what we have. I have always loved you, and I always will. Ethel is only needed for breeding, but we can continue as lovers," he said, tightening his grip.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Archie wanted me to be his secret lover. No way in hell.
"Let go of me, you douchebag; I will never be anyone's secret; I will not help you cheat on your mate. Since you want a better omega, you can get one, but I do not wish you happiness." I said angrily as I stormed out of his room, feeling nothing but disgust as he called out to me, but he didn't dare follow me out as he was probably afraid of being seen by others.
How could Archie have such a disgusting thought? If I hadn't known he was already mated yesterday, I would probably have been in the dark for a long time and become a homewrecker unknowingly.
I tried to gather my thoughts, but my legs were still weak and wobbly. What was this feeling? I was probably too hungry, but this was not the feeling of hunger. It was getting too hot, and I started losing strength in my knees. I had barely made it to the end of the long corridor close to the elevator before my knees gave in. I fell to the ground, and it was becoming hard to breathe.
Shit! I was in heat. Not at this time and place, please; I didn't even take my suppressant with me. I can't be found in this state.
Being a forsaken, my pheromone smell was not as strong as that of a higher omega in heat, but that didn't mean I was not in danger.
I struggled to pick myself up to get to the elevator. The elevator suddenly opened, and I saw a tall frame. I looked up and saw those Maroon eyes looking down at me. I immediately recognized them, as they were unforgettable. I couldn't take a proper look at his face because he suddenly covered his nose with his hands and looked away immediately, as if trying to avoid the smell of my pheromones.
"Please help me," I pleaded weakly.
"Do you know what you are asking of me?" he said as he raised a brow questioningly.
"Please help me," I said again before falling to the ground.
He picked me up from the ground and carried me through the long corridor. He smelled of sweet spices, and his scent calmed me down. This was not my first time experiencing heat, but this was the first time I was close to an alpha during my heat period. My body desired things it shouldn't, and I couldn't control it.He took me to a room, which was probably his, and laid me on the bed."Rest up," he said curtly, and he attempted to leave.I jumped up and enveloped him in an embrace. His scent was so calming, and I didn't want to let go."Please help me," I whispered into his ears softly."Little Omega, don't tempt me," he said in a low tone, almost in a whisper.I buried my head on his shoulder so I could take in more of his scent. He suddenly held my neck in place."You asked for this," he said before he dug his fangs through my skin and bit my nape. I felt a sharp pain, but shortly after, a feeling of ecstasy followed. My body got numb, and before I could feel anything else, I passed
I was left there, confused by what I had just experienced. How did I end up being marked and misunderstood at the same time? What was his name again, "Leigh"? How do I explain myself? He wouldn't even believe me. I didn't have the strength for the emotions I was feeling now. I should be feeling heartbroken because of Archie's betrayal, but the feeling of such a misunderstanding overshadowed my feelings of heartbreak.I collected myself and quickly went home. I went straight to my room and didn't answer at all when Amelia called out to me, probably to inquire why I didn't come home last night and didn't bother to call.I went straight to the bathroom and jumped into the bathtub. I could still smell him on me. It was faint but still intoxicating."Leigh," I said to myself, touching my nape lightly before smacking my head to snap out of it. Maybe if I scrubbed hard enough, I'd be able to get the smell of the alpha off my skin, but no matter how much I scrubbed, the smell still lingered.
I called dad, but he was unavailable. He called back and apologized because he was at a meeting in the clinic. He said he would be coming home tonight, and he wanted to talk to me.I went home and laid on my bed, thinking about what Madam Maureen had said and how I'd present the issue to my dad. I also had to explain to him where I had slept last night. I had no friends, so I couldn't lie that I had spent a night at a friend's house.I also had this scent lingering around me. What if he sniffs it out? I couldn't bear to think about what he would say about me being marked by a random alpha. I dreaded his return home. I put on lots of perfume in an attempt to conceal the scent, and I hoped it worked. He finally arrived with a big bag of groceries. He sorted them out and made dinner. He called for Amelia and me to come eat. It was a very quiet dinner, as no one opened their mouths to speak to each other. It was always like there was a large, suffocating wall that separated us. After dinn
~A Day Earlier~"Welcome to the Troy household." Miss Felice said with a bright smile on her face.My luck couldn't be this bad right? Maybe it was a different Troy. I looked around nervously as I already had a bad feeling. There was a knot in my stomach that made me uncomfortable."Compose yourself." Miss Felice said strictly to me. She probably noticed how uncomfortable I was.We were led to the servant quarters. We lined up in an orderly manner and older servants were called to welcome us.Miss Felice was the head servant and a B ranked omega. She had probably worked in this household for two generations. She looked very strict and carried herself with pride. She walked around inspecting the quarters and other servants were reporting activities that had occurred during her absence. She finally remembered the existence of the newly hired servants and walked towards us to probably give a speech about how lucky we were to be in such a household."It is a great honour to be chosen to s
I layed on my bed pondering about all I've heard from the girls today. I have never really concerned myself with the affairs of the higher species and I was bad at names to the extent I didn't know about the influential families. I only knew about the Addams because that was Archie's family. I have always thought they were very Noble but I just found out today that they are not so powerful. Archie is really impressive, and he probably wants to raise the status of his family. This is something I can't help him with. As much as I want to hate him, I also want to understand him.As a kid, I have heard stories about the Ultima who is destined to be the most powerful werewolf and will lead all the pack. The Ultima is said to possess the power of the primordial werewolf as he will be a reincarnation of Kushim. Kushim was the very first of our kind created by the moon goddess. He was omnipotent and lived for thousands of years before he was taken back by the moon goddess. It is believed that
We arrived at the quarter and it was larger than I had expected. It had a large sitting room with a private bar at the far corner. The bedroom was spacious and brightly lit and the floor covered with plush carpets. There was an organised study table mounted with arranged paper works, and a super computer. There was even a walk-in closet with custom organizers and shelves. The walls and bedsheets were bright colors of red mixed with dark grey. There was a mini library and a private balcony with exotic flowers and a Scarlet macaw in a cage up in the balcony. It had a warm and welcoming vibe to it. With how bright this room seemed to be, it couldn't possibly belong to the Alpha master everyone was dreading so I became more at ease.We shared ourselves and began cleaning. The masters were still at breakfast and if we clean fast enough we wouldn't need to run into them at all. We finished up quickly and decided to head back. Getting to the stairs, I realized I had forgotten a mop bucket in
"Hurry up!" She demanded. She led me to the garden at the back of the house and I walked slowly behind her. It was already evening and a bit dark in this part of the house, someone could be easily murdered here and no one would know."Over there." she said pointing. "I can only accompany you to this point." she said as she turned to leave."What! Why can't you go with me?" I said grabbing her arms."Why are you overreacting?" she said with a shocked expression on her face."Please I can't possibly go alone." I said pleading with my soul."Jeez, let go already, and hurry up before the master gets annoyed." she said forcefully escaping my grip as she walked away.I saw a silhouette at the other end of the garden. I searched around for anything I could use to defend myself and I saw a stick on the ground which I grabbed quickly. A stick was probably useless against this fierce Alpha but I could at least inflict some injuries on him. I walked slowly towards him with the stick close to me.
~ Leigh's POV ~I had a splitting headache after hearing all the bullshit the family elders had to say in this morning meeting. They all just cared about their own interests and not that of the pack as a whole."Dirty old maggots." I muttered to myself."You'd get old quickly if you keep frowning like that."Hearing this made me frown even more."I think I see wrinkles on your head Leigh. You're gonna get ugly soon." Nicolas said laughing loudly."It's probably been a long time since you got kicked." I said threatening him."Awwww! the cute puppy wants to bite." he said in an annoying tone. I didn't bother to answer as he was always like this.Nicolas was a friend I had met in highschool. He was a B ranked alpha from a less powerful pack, but we seemed to get along really well. Back then, he was being bullied by other stronger alphas, I initially ignored it as I didn't bother with things that were not my business but one day, it had gone out of hand and I stepped in to help him. Since
I floated in a void and it was hard to breathe. I struggled till I finally found my balance. "Here again?" I muttered to myself as I walked the familiar path and was met with the same woman that has been appearing in my dreams almost every night.I still couldn't understand what she was saying, but I knew it was something very important."Remember!" She whispered before a whirlwind blew me away and I woke up abruptly, panting heavily.I looked around and I found myself in the comfort of my own room. I sighed as I sat up and rubbed my eyelids with my palms. I tried to move, but I hissed in pain as I was still sore from last night's activity in the garden.I felt drained and tired, with my body still humming from the memories of last night's passion with Leigh. The sunlight streaming from the window seemed too bright, that I winced as I turned to look the other way. I stretched, yawned, and swung my legs over the side of the bed, with my feet dangling in the air.I went to the bathroom
It was probably 10pm or something. I wasn't exactly sure because I drifted off to sleep after Anne tucked me in and I hadn't gotten up since then. The vibration of my phone woke me up."Ugh," I sighed as my head began to throb. I reached for my phone and saw an incoming call from Leigh. Immediately, I sat up before picking up."Hello." I said carefully."Iris." He said in the calmest of voice and my previous anger and dissatisfaction with him watched away as if it was never there."Can we meet up?" He asked."Now?," I glanced over at Anne's side and she was tucked in with her earpods in, probably watching a movie. "Okay." I said as I climbed out of bed.My movement alerted Anne as she turned her attention to me. "Going somewhere?" She asked taking one bud out of her ear."Yeah. I'll be back shortly." I smiled as I put on something simple but nice. I headed to his mother's garden. He didn't have to tell me that that's where he'd be before I could go, because I could probably read his
I haven't seen or heard from Leigh all day. I was really worried and unhappy about this. I would be going back home tomorrow, so I had hoped I would be able to at least speak with him today. I sighed as I made my way back to my room. Since he isn't picking up his call, I should probably go finish packing up and sleep for a while. I headed down the corridor when someone pulled my arms to the side. Shocked and alarmed, I turned back with my fist in the air, it could be another attack, but I was surprised to see Miss Clarisse."You..!" I said shocked. "What do you want?"Her eyes scanned me as she stared as my fist. "Oh, sorry, I thought it was someone bad." I laughed awkwardly as I dropped my hands and stood properly. She just stared at me without saying anything which greatly surprised me. "Uh, do you need anything?" I asked just in case, but she was awfully quiet, but the next thing she did greatly shocked me. She started sniffing me."Hey!" I pushed her off as she grabbed my arms ho
Who could this important guest be? I started on my way and followed the other servants to the entrance, curiosity got the better of me. Who was this important guest that had everyone scrambling?Upon arrival, we formed two precise single file lines, with guards at the front and Miss Felice leading the way."Who is the guest?" I asked the girl besides me."I don't know exactly, I just followed the others here. But it seems like someone important." She said."By the look of things, this guest would probably stay here since we have been asked to come welcome them." The other one by my side whispered."Yeah, true. This was also how we welcomed that snake Miss Eleanor." One said."Hey, don't call her that." I shot at her.She hissed in displeasure. "I can say what I want. And stop acting so noble." She spat.I turned from her because it was clear she only wanted trouble."Is it male or female? I just want to know." Another whispered and thus the gossips started."What if it's a woman? May
I felt myself floating in an endless void, I felt disoriented and I didn't know what I was doing here, or how I got to this place. My feet landed on the ground and my footing balanced."Hello?" I called out looking around, but my voice echoed back.I moved forward, searching for a reference point, but there was nothing, only emptiness. Suddenly, a figure materialized in the distance. A woman stood at the center, with her back to me."Excuse me," I said, approaching her. "Where am I?"She didn't turn it speak to me, but just stood with her back to me.I paused before going forward. "Sorry to bother you, I just want to know where I am. I am lost." I said to her while still approaching her.The woman turned to me suddenly. Our eyes met and familiarity struck me instantly, but I knew we had never met before."Who are you?" I asked as I was having this strange feeling. In a flash, the woman stood inches from me, but I could swear she was standing far away a few seconds ago.Her skin trans
Finally, me and the girls were done. It was a total mess in here. I couldn't help but wonder what sort of grown adult would mess with books and leave them scattered everywhere."I'm hungry, let's go find something to eat." One of the girls suggested and the other supported with a nod."I'll go handle something first before joining you guys." I said and they made fun of me thinking I was going back to talk to Leigh, but I was actually going back to find Miss Felice.I stepped out of the library, with my resignation letter clutched in my hand. I took a deep breath, steeling myself for the conversation ahead. I did tell her that I had nothing to say before, but now, Leigh thinks it's a good idea to stop working here.I headed straight to her office, hopefully she was in. I knocked softly and let myself in when I heard her say 'come in' from inside."Ah! Iris, what brings you here?" She said lifting her head from a pile of paper work in front of her. She was busy calculating all the expen
As I walked away, a force pulled me back in place. I spun around, startled for a brief second before I got my composure. Leigh stood before me, his eyes blazing anger."Shit!" I whispered to myself. For a moment, I wondered if he had seen me hug Chad. A misunderstanding was the last thing I wanted right now between us."Leigh, what's wrong?" I asked carefully, trying to sound calm."Are you still seeing him?" he demanded, his tone rough and my yes shone."What do you mean?" I backed up a little. He moved closer in an intimidating way. "I am asking if you are still going in between Chad and I?" He scowled and I bristled."How dare you," I snapped at him. "You have no right to say that to me. Do I look like some cheap harlot that double dates? Hell, we aren't even in a relationship." I shot at him immediately and his expression changed as he realized he just fucked up."Look I..." "If you are going to keep talking to me this way then you better leave." I cut him off. Why does he always
I should really stop entertaining this kind of conversations and exchanges to not give anyone a wrong impression or false hope. I do not know if he's serious about his advances or not, but I have to avoid him too."Iris," Miss Felice called out to me and I hurried to meet up with her."Madam?" I said and she had this look on her face that was hard to put into words. She just stared at me for a quick second before opening her mouth to speak."You are one lucky girl Iris." She said in a rather fond tone which greatly amazed me."Ah!" Was all I could say because I didn't know how to react. She moved closer to me and placed her hands on my shoulder."Leigh is a child I watch grow up. He knows nothing about love, but since he has chosen to love you, and the goddess also seems to be in your favour, I hope you do not disappoint him." She smiled softly and I nodded."Oh, I remember you said you had something to tell me. You can say it now." She said and the words got stuck in my throat. I did
"Okay father. But I have to process my resignation. I cannot just up and leave." I said trying to sound reasonable and thankfully he listened to me."Okay." He sighed. "In two days time, I will come to pick you up. By then, everything should have been sorted out right?" He asked and I nodded."Okay dear, I will return to the hospital now. Please stay away from trouble my dear child." He patted my head and I smiled as I hugged him tightly."Bye dad." I said and he hugged me back before going his way. As I watched him leave, I clenched the resignation letter I already had prepared in my pocket. I had wanted to leave because I thought I had lost Leigh forever, but that wasn't the case now. I wanted to stay. I finally have a chance. But now, father wants me back home. What was I going to do now?"Iris!" Anne called me as she rushed towards me. "Are you okay? I heard that you were involved in a fist fight? I hope you won? Is it true that Eleanor wasn't carrying Leigh's child? So no more U
