Chapter 50

Akira’s POV

I entered Hunter's study after a single knock on the door. I didn’t bother waiting for a response; the excitement bubbling inside me urged me forward. 

One of the guards had told me that Hunter wanted to see me immediately, and for the first time since I’d come back to his house, he was the one reaching out to me. I had no idea why he had sent for me, but I was eager to find out. 

Maybe, just maybe, this was the moment I had been waiting for. The moment where we could finally talk, and I could play my game well, without all the cold distance he usually put between us.

When I walked into the room, Hunter didn’t bother looking up to see who had entered. He didn’t need to, he probably knew it was me. He wasn’t sitting at the desk like I expected, though. 

Instead, he was lounging on one of the cushions in the corner of the room, casually sipping from a glass of wine, as if he didn’t
