Kestrel’s POV

Standing at the desk in sitting room of Hunter home, I tossed the paperwork I had been pretending to work on across the table.

My head pounded from staring at the meaningless columns of numbers, my eyes darting repeatedly toward the clock.

No matter how hard I tried to focus, my mind always circled back to Hunter— and Akira.

I stretched my arms above my head, rolling my shoulders. My muscles were tense, a clear reflection of my frustration.

Pretending to support their ridiculous union had been more exhausting than I had anticipated. Coming here to apology weeks ago had been my only way back into the pack’s fold, but every word I’d spoken had burned my tongue. Apologize to that Akira? A mere upstart who had stolen everything from me?

I sighed remembering how they had acted when I walked in on them apologizing for the very thing I hated; their union.

No matter how it may still sound, Hunter was mine. Or at least, he should have been.

Why shouldn’t we be together? W

Kestrel’s POVI watched Akira disappear down the hallway, out of the kitchen and the small estate and heading to the main estate. Her steps hurried, almost as though she was trying to escape the harshness of the words hurled at her in the kitchen. My mind swirled with questions about what I had just witnessed. Seeing her humiliated like that, seeing her near the brink of tears— it was oddly satisfying. I couldn’t deny it.A smirk tugged at the corner of my lips. She deserved it, every bit of it.Still, an idea crept into my head, one I couldn’t ignore. What if I went to her now, pretending to care? It would be a perfect opportunity to dig deeper, to find out what was really going on. The mighty Akira brought low was a rare sight, and I wasn’t about to waste it.Without bothering to grab the snack I had originally gone to the kitchen for, I quickly followed her down the hall.“Akira,” I called out, my voice laced with a false sweetness. She didn’t stop. She didn’t even turn around inst

Kestrel’s POVI hurried back to the kitchen as fast as I could. My failed attempt to pry information from Akira still stung, but I wasn’t giving up yet. That servant, the one who had boldly insulted her, was my next target.Surely, she wouldn’t be as difficult as Akira. When I stepped into the kitchen, I was met with silence. The loud commotion from earlier had completely dissipated. A few servants were busy with their tasks—chopping vegetables, stirring pots, and kneading dough—but there was no sign of the one I had come for.I stood there, scanning the room, unsure of what to do next. Should I ask the other servants about the incident? Would they even tell me anything useful? Before I could decide and almost made up my mind to ask the other female servant, the kitchen’s storage room door creaked open, and she stepped out.I smiled to myself. Perfect. The servant looked different now. Her shoulders slumped, and her face carried an air of sadness. It was strange. She had been so fierc

Akira’s POVI entered my room and let the door shut quietly behind me. My legs felt like they couldn’t carry me anymore, and I sank to the ground, sliding into the corner of the room. I drew my knees up to my chest and let the tears flow freely. The sadness in my heart felt unbearable. How long will this continue? How long will they keep hating me? How long will this taunting words continue? I murmured to myself.I knew the answer, and it made the pain even worse. Afterall I had caused this. I couldn’t pretend otherwise. Every harsh word, every cold stare, every whispered insult— I had earned them.I closed my eyes, wishing I could turn back time. If I could just undo that one decision... If I could erase the day I ran away from Hunter’s pack and sought refuge with Jackson, everything would be different.I shook my head, my tears falling harder. Back then, I thought I was escaping a monster. And to think now that I thought Hunter was cruel, heartless, and dangerous. I was really fooli

August’s POV I scanned the garden for what felt like the hundredth time, frustration bubbling under my skin. She wasn’t here. “Where the hell is she?” I muttered under my breath. Akira was usually easy to find. Most days, I would spot her either tending to the garden or visiting the memorial grounds. But today, she seemed to have disappeared. I had been searching for her for nearly forty-five minutes, and I wasn’t leaving until I found her. I needed to see her, to talk to her. A thought crossed my mind, one that made my stomach churn. Was she avoiding me? Did she see me as a traitor now? I rubbed the back of my neck, the heaviness of uncertainty pressing down on me. Ever since that evening with Jackson, I’d been plagued with questions. Did she see me with Jackson? Did she see my face before I ran off in the wood? If Akira had seen me meeting with Jackson, surely, she would have told Hunter. Wouldn’t she? Unless… unless she chose not to because she still considered me a fr

Seth’s POVThe sound of my fist pounding against August’s door echoed through the quiet morning. My heart was racing, anticipation coursing through me. This was it— after weeks of chasing shadows, we finally had a lead. The spy who had been working with Jackson was going to be revealed.I had barely caught my breath since receiving August’s early morning call. As soon as he said he had information about the spy meeting Jackson in a hidden location, I had jumped out of bed, thrown on my clothes, and rushed here without a second thought.I couldn’t wait not even thinking of eating my usual large breakfast. I needed to hear it directly from him.I knocked again, harder this time. My urgency must have been clear because, after a few moments, the door creaked open. August stood there, still looking half-asleep, his hair tousled and his eyes heavy.“Seth?” he asked, surprise flashing across his face.I didn’t bother with pleasantries.Pushing past him, I stepped into his living room. “Are y

Seth’s POVAfter the failed mission with August, I found myself sitting alone in my room, the heft of disappointment pressing heavily on my chest. The idea of involving Adolf, my most trusted informant, gnawed at the back of my mind. For weeks, I had resisted the urge. Hunter would never approve of me sharing sensitive pack issues with an outsider, even someone as skilled and loyal as Adolf. He always said that leaking such matters could make us vulnerable to our enemies, rival packs who would jump at the chance to exploit our weaknesses. However, I was desperate.Too much was at stake, and with August already involving his own informant, I figured Adolf’s involvement wouldn’t hurt. At least, that’s what I kept telling myself. If I wanted results, I needed the best, and Adolf was unmatched in his work.Convincing Adolf to take on this type of job hadn’t been easy. He wasn’t cheap, and I had to pay him double his usual fee to ensure he wouldn’t breathe a word of this to anyone.Still,

August’s POVI couldn’t shake the feeling that I was being watched. The café seemed calm on the surface, but my instincts told me otherwise. My eyes darted around the room, scanning every face and corner. It was a high-end spot, a place that catered to people like Jackson— humans and werewolves alike who preferred the illusion of safety and exclusivity; places where people of elites gather to boast of how rich they become and how much they had in store.Jackson had assured me this place was secure, that no one could get in without an invitation or a premium membership card. But I wasn’t buying it.Nothing was completely safe. Especially not for someone like me; a man most wanted by a man like Hunter.I adjusted the hoodie over my head, pulling it lower to shadow my face. My heart raced, each beat echoing in my ears as I walked through the café with my head down, avoiding eye contact with anyone. As much as I hated it, paranoia had become my constant companion in the past few weeks, es

Seth’s POVI sat in my car, gripping the steering wheel tightly as I waited outside Jackson’s estate. The morning faint first light slowly, casting golden rays over the gated mansion. My heart thumped in my chest, a mix of anticipation and doubt clouding my thoughts. Would Jackson really meet the spy today? Adolf’s intel had been questionable before, leading me on wild goose chases. But something about today felt different.I glanced at my watch—6:30 AM.The world was still waking up, yet here I was, sacrificing sleep to wait outside the estate like a predator stalking its prey. A small voice in my head whispered to call August for backup, but I quickly dismissed it. This was my mission, and I couldn’t risk dragging him into another dead end.It might end up like the previously one we had gone and had found nothing, I won’t want to drag him into that stress again. As the morning stretched into mid-morning, my patience began to wane. Hunger gnawed at my stomach, but I ignored it. Leavi

August’s POVMy hands gripped the steering wheel tightly as I sat in the car outside Hunter's estate. My heart was pounding so hard it felt like it would burst out of my chest. Hunter's words replayed in my mind like a haunting melody. The cold, calculated way he described Kestrel's death—the poison eating her from within, leaving nothing but a husk of flesh and bone—sent shivers down my spine. And then his chilling remark: "If she hadn’t died from the poison, I would’ve done far worse."Monster. That’s what Hunter was. A cold-blooded, ruthless monster. No wonder every Alpha trembled at the mere mention of his name. Who wouldn’t fear someone like him? Hunter was the embodiment of terror, and yet, he carried himself with the charm of a king. But I wasn’t fooled. Beneath the surface was nothing but darkness, the kind that could consume anyone who dared cross him.I released a shaky breath, trying to calm the storm inside me. I had gone to the estate thinking I could play my part—show c

  • Alpha's Mission: Bound by Fate   Chapter 170

August’s POVI took a deep breath, standing outside the door to Akira’s chamber. My hands clenched into fists before I forced myself to relax. Calm, August. Fake calm. You’ve done this before. Just put on a smile, say the right words, and leave as quickly as you can, I told myself for what seems to be like the tenth times. The thought of facing her—and Hunter—made my skin crawl. I didn’t want to be here, but as Commander to the pack, I had a duty to perform. She was our Luna, no matter how much I despised her.Despised her and feared her.Why wouldn’t she just die? I kept asking myself this same question for weeks. Her enemies seemed to fall like leaves in a storm while she remained untouched. First, it was Jackson's guards. Then Jackson himself. The servant Kestrel manipulated. And now Kestrel herself. All are dead with Kestrel probably nearing her death too, while Akira sat comfortably in her position, unscathed.Whatever she did to the moon goddess to keep protecting her, she was r

  • Alpha's Mission: Bound by Fate   Chapter 169

Hunter’s POVI stood by Akira’s bedside, my arms crossed tightly over my chest as I watched the doctor move around her, performing his final examinations. Even though I trusted his skill, I couldn’t relax. Every time his hands moved to check her pulse or adjust the machines monitoring her vitals, my heart clenched.Akira looked so small and fragile lying there, yet her spirit remained unbroken. Whatever made her wake up from coma so quickly, he will have to keep thanking the moon goddess. And to think that I had already failed her once by trusting Kestrel. That mistake would haunt me forever. The doctor’s calm demeanor only irritated me. I needed to hear the words—needed to know she was going to be okay. “Well?” I growled, unable to keep the tension from my voice. The doctor looked up, meeting my gaze. “She’s fine now,” he said, nodding. “The poison is completely out of her system, but she still needs rest and attentive care. I recommend you personally oversee her recovery to avoid

  • Alpha's Mission: Bound by Fate   Chapter 168

Kestrel’s POVI paced back and forth in Akira’s room, my heels clicking against the hardwood floor. Each time my gaze fell on her lifeless form lying on the bed, anger boiled inside me. Even in a coma, Akira had the audacity to look peaceful, as if mocking me. I hate you, I thought bitterly. Even half-dead, you’re still a thorn in my side. The only reason I was here was because I had convinced Hunter I wanted to help look after her. It was the perfect cover, ensuring I stayed in his good graces. If I hadn’t, Hunter might never have left her side. It disgusted me that he could show so much devotion to her, even now.I forced myself to go through the motions: wiping her face, monitoring her temperature, pretending to care. All of it was a performance. Because if Akira didn’t wake up from this coma—if she finally died—then my place at Hunter’s side would be secured. The thought brought a sly smile to my lips, but it faded as quickly as it came. The doctor’s words haunted me: She could

  • Alpha's Mission: Bound by Fate   Chapter 167

Kestrel’s POVThe air in the sitting room was thick with tension, making it nearly impossible to breathe. I bit my lips hard enough to draw blood as I sat beside Hunter, who radiated a fury I’d never seen before. His face was grim, his jaw clenched, and his hands rested on his knees, ready to spring into action.I couldn’t believe things had spiraled out of control so quickly. My plan seemed so perfect—or at least, it should have been. The poison was supposed to work subtly, spreading through Akira’s system and finishing her off in her sleep. But no, she just had to spend the evening outside with Hunter, delaying the process. Now everything had fallen apart. The doctor’s words earlier haunted me: Poison. That one word had set Hunter off, and now, every servant who worked in the kitchen had been summoned. My heart raced as I watched the guards herd them into the sitting room, one by one. There they were—eight female servants, heads bowed, shuffling in like lambs to the slaughter. I s

  • Alpha's Mission: Bound by Fate   Chapter 166

Hunter’s POVThe evening air was cool and soothing as I sat under the oak tree with Akira. The moonlight spilled gently through the branches, casting a serene glow over her face. I reached for her hand, but something about her felt...off. She was unusually quiet, her usual fiery spirit dampened.“Are you alright, Doll?” I asked softly, leaning closer to her. I placed a hand on her forehead, and her skin felt warmer than usual, but I told myself it might be nothing. Probably the coolness of the weather was making her warm.Akira gave me a faint smile but didn’t answer. She simply nodded, her gaze distant.“Is something bothering you?” I pressed, my worry growing. She hesitated for a moment before shaking her head. “No,” she whispered and didn’t bother to say more words, her voice was barely audible. I tried to lighten the mood, a playful smile tugging at my lips. “And I didn’t do anything to offend you, did I?” I teased. That earned me a small laugh, but it was brief and didn’t reach

  • Alpha's Mission: Bound by Fate   Chapter 165

Kestrel’s POVI stood at a distance, watching as the female servant prepared Akira’s breakfast. My heart raced, though I did my best to keep my face calm. She had come to me last night, her face pale but determined, telling me she was ready to take the deal. She asked for the poison, and after drilling her with countless questions to make sure she was serious, I finally handed it over.Still, I couldn’t trust her. Not completely. Servants were unpredictable, and I couldn’t risk her botching the job—or worse, poisoning the wrong person. Sometimes, Hunter, Akira, and I shared breakfast together, and the thought of that poison ending up on my plate—or Hunter’s—sent shivers down my spine.I stayed nearby, my eyes glued to the kitchen’s entrance, waiting for confirmation that the job would be done correctly. My stomach churned, a mixture of nerves and anticipation. Then, I saw her.Akira, walking down the hallway toward the kitchen, her blonde hair flowing behind her, her aura exuding st

Kestrel’s POVI paced the corridor outside the kitchen, my heels clicking softly against the stone floor. The faint scent of freshly baked bread wafted through the air, mingling with the earthy aroma of spices, but I paid it no attention. For the past hour, I had been standing here, waiting. Normally, I wouldn’t waste my time in a place like this, much less wait so long, but this wasn’t a normal day.Today’s business was important—urgent, even.Several servants bustled past, their chatter and footsteps filling the air. They glanced at me, some with curiosity, others with disbelief. Of course, it was rare for me to be seen in the kitchen, let alone lingering here. I was Kestrel, after all. I didn’t belong in places like this. However, knowing what brought me here, I ignored their stares. I had a mission, and I wasn’t leaving until it was done.My gaze flickered to the door every time someone entered, searching for the one person I was waiting for. That particular servant, she was ju

August’s POVI slammed back another cup of beer, the fifth one tonight, as the frustration roared through me like a wildfire. My throat burned, and the alcohol settled uneasily in my stomach, but it wasn’t enough. Nothing was enough to drown out the anger bubbling inside me. The bar was loud—music blaring, people laughing and dancing, glasses clinking—but none of it mattered. The noise only made the emptiness inside me feel bigger, more oppressive. This was all her fault. Akira. That conniving little bitch parading herself around as Luna. My fists clenched involuntarily at the thought of her. She didn’t just kill Jackson; she destroyed everything I had intend to build with him.Jackson wasn’t just a benefactor—he was my golden ticket. With him, I intend to get wealth, power, and opportunities. Together, in trafficking business we would have been untouchable. But now, thanks to Akira’s so-called heroics, it was all gone. She didn’t just kill him; she humiliated him, fought his men,
