KAISER
I was punching the shit out of the punching bag kept in the basement, when I heard footsteps approaching me. I didn't let that bother me and continued to punch that bag.
"I got to hear that you basically kicked Rhea out of the house?" I heard Paul's voice.
"Yes," I replied.
"Which meant I missed the drama," he teased.
Paul is my best friend, and the only person whose shit I can tolerate every time is him. He is like a baby brother to me.
"Yes, Paul. You did," I scoffed.
"Yeah. And I'm here. You need to look at me and talk. You don't have to butcher the poor punching bag, how long would it tolerate the torture?" He complained.
I rolled my eyes and stopped punching and turned towards him. The moment I turned, the bag swung and hit Paul in his head and he fell down.
"Ouch!" He whined. I scoffed.
He stood up while rubbing his head and walked towards me.
"What happened Kais? Why are you so frustrated?" He questioned.
I knew I had to tell him everything.
"Do you know? Who set up the bitch Rhea to mate with me?" I bickered.
"Who?"
"My parents."
"What?"
Paul's jaw dropped in surprise. He knew my parents were desperate for me to find a mate, but he didn't wonder that they would stoop this low.
"Yes," I gasped and sat on the bench while he sat beside me.
"Tell me the entire stuff," he demanded.
"You know who is Rhea. And my parents think, that if I am the alpha, I should have a Luna soon or else the pack wouldn't respect me," I complained.
"That's rubbish. The pack respects its alpha due to its leadership skills and strength, his personal life has within to do with the pack," Paul replied.
"True. And I don't believe the way of mating forcefully with someone. Even if I mate with Rhea and produce offspring, it would mean nothing to me as I am not her destined mate," I reasoned out.
"And most important, she is not your mate," he added.
"And she is a wretch," I added.
And then, both of us shared a look before bursting out in laughter.
After laughing for a while, Paul held my shoulders.
"So what if you do have a mate? And you find her, what would you do?" Paul asked.
At first, I was surprised by his question and to be honest, I had no answers to it. I hadn't thought about having a mate ever in my life.
"After twenty eight years of my life, I don't think I would ever find a mate now. But even if I did, honestly, I don't want a mate," I admitted.
"Why?" Paul questioned.
"I have seen strongest of Alpha's falling weak and helpless due to their mates and families. We can't forget about the tragedy that happened twenty eight years ago when an alpha and his entire pack were butchered brutally, and he couldn't even fight properly because he had his Luna and his cub. I don't want that ever. I want my entire strength devoted to my pack. I don't want my mate," I spoke.
"But what if you find one and fall in love?" He questioned.
"I wouldn't let that happen," I chuckled.
He smiled as he looked at me. Paul was the beta of our pack and was blindly devoted to me. Sometimes I thought, maybe I had let him down. Just because I couldn't find a mate, he rejected his mate as well, so that I don't feel left out.
And then, we heard a couple of footsteps approaching us. We stood up and looked towards the door. And then, we found it was some of the elder wolves of the pack along with my father.
I looked at them.
"What happened?" I asked.
"There is an issue," my father spoke nervously.
"What happened?" Paul asked.
"We have got an intel regarding humans," Marshal, one of the oldest members of our pack spoke.
"What?" I was curious now.
"We have got to know, that humans are carrying out some kind of experiment with wolfsbane. A lot of bushes of wolfsbane from this forest were cleared out a few days ago, and this might possess a serious hazard to us," Marshall spoke.
Marshall's words put me to worry. Wolfsbane is like a poison to us and could easily kill us. Humans are the most destructive creatures in this world due to their hold on technology, weapons and medicines. And this was certainly not a piece of good news.
"But ninety eight per cent of the humans have no idea about the existence of werewolves, how could they possibly harm us?" Paul countered.
"What if the wolfsbane is in the hands of the remaining two per cent?" I spoke.
"Most of them are the allies of the supernaturals," Paul argued.
"We never know what's inside someone's head," I looked at him.
Everyone went silent as this was a serious issue. I could look at the worry on their faces. They should be worried because it's a matter of their existence and I had to take an initiative.
I gulped and then took a deep breath.
"I will be going among humans and figure out the reason for the missing wolfsbane," I announced.
Everyone looked at me in surprise but I had made a decision.
"No. Kaiser. You're our Alpha. You can't do that," my father argued.
"I am the alpha that's why I am doing this. I have to make sure about the safety of my pack," I retorted.
"Kaiser is right," Marshall sided with me.
I passed a mild smile to him.
"And maybe he finds his mate amongst the humans. He has to meet with new people now," he added.
I rolled my eyes. Why was everyone hell bent on finding a mate for me? What would I do with a mate? Dance?
"But I will go with Kaiser," Paul spoke up.
I looked at Paul and was surprised.
"Paul!" I muttered.
"I am the beta of this pack and it's my duty to make sure of my alpha's safety," he added.
"Okay," my father agreed.
"Marshall," I looked at the old man.
"In our absence, you will be looking up for the pack and making decisions. The young army is always ready for a fight if needed," I spoke.
He nodded at my words.
"Come Paul. We should pack our stuff and leave the earliest," I spoke and then walked out of the room along with Paul.
After a couple of hours, I and Paul were standing in front of my car and everyone had gathered to see us off. I passed a wide smile before leaving and got into my car.
Paul sat on the passenger's seat while I drove the car towards a different city.
As we drove a few miles from our home, Paul turned on the music while I smiled.
"So! Do you have a plan?" Paul asked.
"Yes, I do," I smirked.
"What is it?" He sounded curious.
"I have got information that the wolfsbane was taken to a medical institute. My informers hiding among the humans have prepared a plan for us to enter the institute," I spoke.
"What is it?" He asked.
I remained quiet and drove while smiling at the curiosity of Paul. After driving for a while, I stopped the car on the side of a road and pulled down the windows of my car.
A man walked towards us and handed over a huge envelope. I smiled at him before pulling up the windows and handed over the document to Paul and started driving.
"What's this?" He questioned.
"Open it," I winked.
Paul started opening the envelope.
"This has our ids and every other document that we will be needing. We will be entering the medical institute as PhD students who are here for an internship. We will stay with them for two months. If we get any information, then good, or else, we would go to a different medical institute," I explained.
"This sounds like a movie on undercover agents," Paul spoke excitedly.
"Well, we're going undercover," I winked.
And then, we drove our way to the first medical institute, 'IESM'.
I parked my car in the parking lot of the medical institute and I looked at Paul. He looked nervous.
I patted his shoulders and smiled.
"Are you ready buddy?" I questioned.
"Yeah. I guess I am," he nervously replied.
"Then come on," I winked.
And then, we walked toward the entrance of the institute. As we got to the reception, we looked around.
To enter the institute, we had to provide our biometrics, and we weren't registered with it. The moment Paul noticed this, he was about to panic, but I held his hand and he immediately calmed down.
I walked towards the guy sitting at the reception.
"Hey! Hello," I smiled.
"Yes! How may I help you?" She politely asked.
"Actually, we're here for the internship. It's our first day," I replied.
"Okay. Can I see your ids?" She replied.
"Yes," I nodded.
And then, I handed over mine and Paul's fake college id to her. She had a look at the ids and then returned them to us, while I wondered about her next step.
"Wait a minute please," she politely replied.
And then, she dialled a number while we waited.
"Ma'am. We have our interns," she muttered on the phone.
"Okay," she replied after a while and hung up the phone and looked at us.
"Your mentor, Maya Whitmore is arriving in a moment, please wait," she spoke politely.
"Okay!" I nodded.
Maya Whitmore! I don't know why, but I find this name fascinating.
And then, I saw a girl entering the reception and walking towards us. The moment I saw her, I could feel my heart beating rapidly.
Fuck? Why is my heart dancing?
She stood in front of us with a beautiful smile and forwarded her hand towards us.
"Hello. I am Maya Whitmore. Your mentor," she spoke.
Her voice was sweet as honey.
The moment, I walked towards her to shake hands with her, I don't know how, but I tripped and thud.
I fell on the floor!
KAISER"Hey! Are you okay?"I heard her voice. Her voice was like a meadow. It felt like a soft music in my ears. But I'm on the floor, embarrassing myself in front of a human. Who would say that I'm the alpha of the Blue Moon pack? One of the strongest and most feared packs of werewolves.I managed to get up and stood in front of her and smiled awkwardly while scratching my head."Yeah! I am fine. I just tripped," I shrugged."Yeah. I get it. This happens to me all the time. I am the clumsiest person you would ever meet," she replied with a smile.Yep. Clumsiest person. Heck! I am the one who fell down, and she's calling me clumsy? I bet she is controlling her laughter at my stupidity.I simply grinned at her words."Anyways, I am Maya Whitmore, and you would be reporting to me through the entire period of your internship," she replied with a smile."Kaiser Goreaxe," I replied and shook my hands with her.The moment my hand touched my skin, I felt a spark all of a sudden. That spark
KAISERI know Paul had rejected his mate, but why is he stopping me from rejecting mine? If he could do that, I could do that too.He sighed and looked at me with a painful smile."Just close your eyes and think," he muttered while I stared at him in confusion."What?" I responded."Do as I say, Kais," He demanded.I sighed as I closed my eyes and shut down every other thought that had clouded me."For a while, just imagine that you have rejected your mate and now, you will have to live all alone for your entire life unless you choose otherwise," he muttered. The moment he said that, I opened my eyes and confusingly looked at him."Paul!" I gasped. He had a painful smile on his face as he walked away from me and looked in another direction."You will have to live alone. Your days may pass by while fulfilling the duties of an Alpha, but your nights would be lonely. You will have no one, you could open your heart to, laugh with or even cry with. You are an alpha, and you will remain str
MAYAI was pissed off at her. I was visiting her religiously for my treatment for five years and yet I had no improvement in my health. In fact, I had started to feel worse and that was extremely frustrating to me."Maya! Calm down, dear. You're getting pissed off for no such reason. We have to be patient with the treatment as yours is such a unique case and we have no idea how it gets triggered," Claire tried to calm me down but to be honest, I was just done with her shit."Oh! Shut up," I rolled my eyes as I got up from my seat."You know what, I am done. I am done with you and I am done with all this. I just can'take it anymore if there's zero progress," I responded in frustration. And then, I walked out of the room. My anger and frustration were getting the better of me.I got into my car and then drove towards my gym, I needed to vent out and I could find no better way than working out to vent all of my frustration. I needed to lift the shit out of those cold iron plates.I reach
MAYAWedding? The next month? How's that even possible? Isn't it too soon? And why do I have zero clue about anything?I looked at Samuel. He looked excited about the wedding while I was clueless. At first the engagement and now wedding? Wasn't he going to fast? I wasn't even prepared for any of this. I didn't even know if I wanted to marry. I wanted to scream No to him, I wanted to say that, No, I don't want to marry you, Samuel. But I couldn't, I don't know why, but I just couldn't."Congratulations, Mate!" I heard Kaiser's words.I looked at Kaiser, he was smiling but I don't know how, but I could sense the discomfort in his eyes. It was confusing to me. Why do I feel like he isn't happy about my marriage but the fact that we met just today was bothering me more."Thanks!" Samuel chirped."Come on, baby. Let's go," He then turned towards me and placed his hand on my waist. I looked at him, surprised by his actions and I was about to say something, but then, once again, my head sta
MAYA"That thing there. Your heart. It knows what you should do to be happy. So do listen to your heart, Maya. It will tell you what's right and what's wrong," Kaiser said with a smile. The moment he said that I couldn't move my eyes away from him. His mild smile felt like he had tales to tell and I wanted to hear it all. I had met him just a day ago, but I don't know why, I felt like I have had known him for ages. I barely knew him, yet my heart felt safe and happy around him.The way he spoke, his eyes expressed a lot more than his words. He looked like someone who doesn't give two damns about this world, especially girls, but I don't know why, I felt like he felt a certain comfort around me. At least I did. The way he cared about me, even though if seemed like friendly intentions, it felt extremely special to me. It touched my heart.I smiled at his words, the way he comforted me just by a mere few words made me feel vague, and then, all of a sudden, one realisation hit me. My head
KAISER"I don't think so anyone from this lab has been using Wolfsbane," Paul muttered."How can you say that?" I asked, looking at him.As much as I knew Paul, he never made conclusions before verifying the facts. This was very unusual of him. So the sudden conclusion that he made surprised me."I mean, we did search the lab nicely and most importantly, we do have super senses, if there would have been any presence of wolfsbane, we would have sniffed it," he argued.Well, his argument did make sense. We couldn't sniff anything unusual. But there was something different in this lab, even though I couldn't sniff it but I could feel it."Yeah. I know. But since we're interns. We will have to stay for three months," I replied."From when did you care about this internship? I know you Kais! You can manipulate the shit out of people and we would be good to go." Paul's tone had a certain level of suspicion. He just stared at me."Well! There's something I need to tell you," I sighed. I ha
MAYAI was trying to sleep when my phone rang. I checked the caller, it was Samuel. I rolled my eyes and picked up the phone. I didn't want to talk to him right now but I had no other option."Hello," I muttered."Hey baby, what are you doing?" He questioned in an enthusiastic voice."Trying to get some sleep," I plainly replied."Don't you have time to talk to your fiancee?" He questioned in a tone as if he is offended."Samuel, I have work to do. I have a lot of work in the lab, I have to hit the gym to clear my head. You know my schedule is pretty packed up and you have known this for years, and still, you're complaining about this?" I argued.I had no mood to tolerate his bullshit, but I had to keep my calm and tolerate it a bit."Calm down baby! Chill. Why are you getting offended?" He got defensive."Am I? You know me, Sam," I scoffed."Yeah. Yeah. Sorry. You're a busy woman. Anyways, after a month, when you will be my wife, all these complaints regarding lack of time will fade
KAISERI had to explore the vulnerable side of Maya to get under her skin. She was intriguing me enough and it was somehow forcing me to get to know her at any cost. So now, I had to know everything about her, and for that, I couldn't use my supernatural powers. She was making me weak, and to know the reason for my weakness, I had to make her weak in every way possible. I had to make her vulnerable. There were certain things that I knew, first that she is my mate and it led me to a gateway of her heart. Even though she is a human, and she might fall in love with someone else, but the fact that I am her mate, I can easily reach her heart, because somehwhere deep the line, we're meant to be together and the moon Goddess will try every other thing to make sure that we stick together. So bow, I had to get close to her.And for that, last night I went to her home. From the time I spent with her, I got to know one thing. This girl is struggling, she is struggling with so many issues that I
Six Months Later MAYA "It's Kaiser's birthday, Paul. I want everything to be perfect," I chirped as I checked the decorations. "It will be, Maya," he responded. It's been months since we are married and we're living a peaceful life. Everything is perfect between us and that made me happier. Kaiser made me the alpha, and to my surprise, everyone in the pack happily accepted my position. Everyone began to love me, to accept me as their own and it made my heart full with joy. I now had a family of my own, and what more I would need. The pack thrived and we just lived happily in love and pleasure. I walked into my room, to see if Kaiser is ready. "Birthday boy, are you ready? We're getting late for the party," I muttered. And then, Kaiser turned around. I looked at him, and I was lost in him. He looked extremely handsome, and I felt like I would fall for him once again. "What happened?" He teased me. "You look handsome," I winked. "Oh really," he held my hand and pulled me clo
KAISER I witnessed the man I thought to be my mentor die in front of my eyes. But his death was well deserved, he fed the entire pack lies and just because we considered him as our mentor, we believed every word that he had to say. After Marshall was dead, I walked towards Dad. I tapped his shoulders. Maya stayed there, maybe she wanted me to decide the optimal punishment for Dad. I nodded at her, assuring her that I would not disappoint her. "I am sorry, son. I am so sorry," he cried, holding my hands. "I trusted the wrong person. I believed him, and did whatever he said," he sobbed. "You knew he was wrong, yet you helped him. That's your mistake, dad," I muttered. He held my hand tightly and was crying. "From the beginning, you know you were wrong. I couldn't respect you because of this, Dad," I spoke. I helped him stand up and looked at him. He was crying, and I did feel sympathy for him, but I had to decide on an optimal punishment for him as the king. "For the first tim
REGINA "One bite. And your alpha dies a brutal death," I howled unwillingly. After that, I placed my teeth right on Kaiser's neck. I had to bite him lightly so that he doesn't die but the wound should look serious. I cursed myself, because whatever I did, it included playing with Kaiser's life, and it was torturous for me. I was about to bite him when I heard a voice. "STOP!" It was Thomas. I looked at him. "Don't kill him. I... I surrender. I will confess everything that we did. Just don't kill him," he begged. I stopped. This was the plan, to make them confess. It was all our plan. The war, the attack on Kaiser, everything, so that Thomas confesses his crimes to his people. And now, he will. "Great! But you aren't going to confess here," I growled. I had to make sure everyone in the pack knew about his deeds. No matter how strong I had the urge to kill him, I wanted the pack to decide his punishment, because that would be much more deserved by him."Then... Then?" He asked.
THOMASAfter warning all of us, Kaiser went straight to his room, leaving me and Marshall alone.I rushed to Marshall."Have you gone nuts? Why did you mention the rogues in front of Kaiser? He would never allow them," I scoffed."Yes. But the only way we can win this war is by including the rogues," Marshall answered."But how? Whichever pack she belongs to, she is a newly transitioned wolf. She is not going to have so many powers that she can fight a hundred and fifty wolves. I do not want to kill her," I argued.Marshall looked at me."You still don't want to kill her? Thomas, have you gone crazy? She waged a war against us, which means she very well knows whatever we did to her pack. If we don't kill her, she would kill us," he argued."So let her kill us. It's been so long. I am tired of this life. Let my son live and love the woman. She is his mate. For god's sake, make this little sacrifice," I retorted."He is your son. Not mine. And I am not a fool, who will die on a battlefi
PAUL"What? Are you joking?"I was shocked by Kaiser's answer. Maya is waging a war against us? Why would she want to do that? Didn't she want to become a part of our pack? What's happening?"I wish I could joke," I heard Kaiser's reply in a devastated tone.I looked at Kaiser, he looked torn between his love and his duty. I had never seen him like that ever."But... But her... Her fighting against... Against us... It... It will make her a rogue," Thomas spoke.I looked at Thomas, and his reaction surprised me. He was sweating and looked nervous as if he was trying to hide something."It won't. I and Maya, we aren't married by now," Kaiser responded."But why? Why would she want to wage a war? Didn't she want to be included in our pack till earlier this day?" I asked Kaiser.I wasn't being able to figure out what was happening. All of a sudden, so much chaos, it was confusing to me."She still wants to be included in her pack, but before that, she wants to fulfil the duty of being an
MAYAMaybe whatever I was saying to Kaiser made no sense. Maybe me going against him wasn't a good idea. Maybe all of this, it's for nothing. But in all those maybes, there were a certain things I was sure about. My parents and my people were killed. I couldn't live with it. I couldn't marry Kaiser and dream of having a happy family with the killers of my parents. I had to fulfil my duties as a daughter. I would do that at any cost, and if that meant losing Kaiser, maybe I was ready for it."Maya! You will be going against me. I have to protect my people," he spoke in a shattered tone.I walked towards him. I knew this was hurting him a lot, and I would be lying if I said it wasn't hurting me as well.I cupped his face and my expression softened immediately. "I know this is tough, and I am sorry, baby. But, I have no other option," I spoke in the softest tone possible. After that, I pressed my lips against her, kissing her passionately. He kissed me back, with the same passion and
KAISERMaya killed a wolf, with just a bite? How's that even possible?I looked at her, she looked panicked with whatever just happened now.I hugged her tightly."Kaiser. He... He is dead. How... How did this happen?" she asked, while stammering.I was quiet because, to be honest, even I didn't know the answer to it. "I have no idea," I weakly mumbled."I have an idea, Kaiser," Ash muttered."What?" I asked him."We should go back to the witches. They know about Maya's pack. We know nothing about it. They can tell us," he spoke.I didn't want to go back to the witches. I didn't believe a word of everything that they said and I kinda hated them because they made Maya angry. But Ash was right. If anyone could help us through this, it's the witches."Maya. I think we should go back to the witches and ask them about this," I spoke. She broke the hug and looked at me."What do you mean?" She asked."Whatever happened just now. It's not natural. I can't kill a wolf by just biting, but you
MARSHALL"We have to kill the wolf! We have to kill Maya!"I uttered in panic as I could not think of any other way. There was no way I could let all my efforts go in vain."Kill her? Are you nuts? She is our son's mate, Marshall!" Thomas replied in an irked tone."So what? She is the last remaining of our enemy. Have you forgotten? They would have killed our entire pack?" I retorted.I couldn't even believe that Thomas was thinking about sparing her. I can't let a single wolf from the Mystic Shadow remain alive. They're a menace. I made sure every pup was killed by me, I just wondered how could even she make it alive? How did she stay hidden for so many years? How could my rogues not sniff her out. I have kept my rogues everywhere, be it human world or the woods. They were spread over the entire world. How could they even fail?"Would they have? Because for twenty eight years, I only kept wondering, that if we didn't kill them, would they have killed us?" Thomas spoke.I was surprise
MAYA"W...what?" My voice trembled as I heard those names.Kaiser's father was the killer of my entire pack? He killed my pack, and my parents and I had to be raised as an orphan human kid. I wasn't even human."Yes. They were powerful, but that night, it was a lunar eclipse. The eclipse was covered with clouds, and whenever that happens, the Mystic Shadow are like every other werewolf. They don't remain as powerful as they should be. So, they took an advantage of that and massacred the entire pack, I including your parents," she told me.I lost my voice. I was startled by everything that I got to know. I didn't want to believe any of it, but the flashes of my past that I saw screamed in my ears that it wasn't a lie."Your parents wanted to save you, Maya. And that's why they brought you to us. The only way, they could have saved you, was that the wolves do not sniff your wolf form. And for that, I had to suppress your wolf form," she told me.I looked at her, and felt like I was gett
