As Alpha Zane took an indefinite leave to take care of his wife, Eleanor, Alpha Cain stepped up to take half of the guard duties inside the Citadel manor, while Alpha Barkus took charge of Alpha Zane’s admin tasks.

With that Alpha Cain proceeds to station his Deltas in the first-floor hallway.

“Delta Dimitry?” Delta Sevy hummed in concern. There was a pressing idea in his mind that he tried to suppress but couldn’t, and it made his mind terrified just by imagining it.

“What?” Delta Dimitry asks casually, expecting a normal conversation with his fellow Delta.

Delta Sevy starts fidgeting. It shows obvious signs that it's an uncomfortable topic.

“Hey, what is it? Is something bothering you?” Delta Dimitry questioned with more gravitas in his tone.

Delta Sevy breathes out heavily, “I’ve been thinking…" He giggled awkwardly. "That... That... There's a possibility that we’ve been possessed without us knowing, and… it's us who killed those Omegas?” Delta Sevy remarks. His hands trembling in

As the night progresses, Quillion, with the help of Gertrude Fallis, undergoes a hibernation spell to conserve his strength while waiting for Vesper’s toxin to subside.“He’ll wake up on his own, once his body can heal himself,” Gertrude explains while lighting an incense to speed up Quillion’s journey to dreamland. Alpha Qillalon stared intensely at the witch. His face was unreadable, “He… My father… told me about the Blood Oath…” He paused and let his words sink in. Gertrude's movements were put to a halt. The coldness in the Alpha's tone didn’t go unnoticed. She narrowed her gaze but stayed silent.“... Is there a way to break it…” He added that he would rather take rejection and the possibility of death than a forced bond with his fated mate.Gertrude frowned and moved away from the Alpha. She fixed her gaze on the heavy rain now–no more than a sprinkle. She wished something could be done. She sighs deeply. “I’m afraid there’s no way to do that.” He grunted. The urge to look for

As Velmont shared the information about the missing infants, Elder Mauritius’ face contorted in rage. “It’s not 100% that it's the Black Order…”“—It's them Velmont…” The Elder confirms. Soon he ended the call and sent a mental link message for all the Alpha in the manor to meet him in the conference room. CONCURRENTLY…In the distant town of Cordova. The room was cloaked in an unnatural stillness, the kind that pressed against the skin and whispered in the back of the mind. Robert stirred first, his head pounding as if his skull had been used as a drum. He groaned, blinking against the faint moonlight filtering through the curtains. Beside him, his wife, Helena, shifted under the covers, her breathing shallow and uneven.Something was wrong.Robert sat up abruptly, the motion sending a wave of nausea crashing over him. The room looked just as it always had—the faint floral wallpaper Helena loved, the antique clock on the dresser ticking softly, and the faint creak of the old wood b

By daybreak, Alpha Barkus had departed Citadel Manor to report to Citadel Headquarters.By midday, he reached the towering Citadel Headquarters disguised as the leading pharmaceutical company in the United States. It discreetly loomed over the city like a fortress from another age, its steel and glass facade gleaming coldly under the pale midday sun. Inside was a normal corporate office with the air thick with tension as the staff moved briskly through the halls, their expressions grim but not due to the news about the Black Order. The reason is the Citadel pharmaceutical side annual audit. On the 76th floor is a huge conference room with thick walls, a vast room dominated by holographic displays, and an imposing central table where the most critical decisions are made.Alpha Barkus, a seasoned field huntsman wearing his matching black suit and tie, entered the conference room with a purposeful stride. His scarred face and piercing eyes spoke of countless battles fought and survived.

Alpha Qillalon hurriedly left the Citadel premises and headed to the last place Vesper was spotted. After hours of endless travel on the unpaved rough road. He reached the abandoned building. The place was hidden by tall trees and grass. The structure was barely standing, its walls weathered and tilted, vines creeping over the edges like fingers of time reclaiming its prize. The vicinity was quiet, except for the crunch of leaves beneath his boots. His sharp gaze swept the path ahead, scanning for any sign of movement. He was close—he could feel it. The faintest scent lingered in the air, one that tugged at his memory, though something about it was... wrong. As he turned to the corner, he stopped in his tracks. A familiar scent caught his attention. A scent that shouldn’t be there. He moved forward and at the end of the other corner, standing a short distance away was Velmont, his broad shoulders tense, his face marred with frustration.Alpha Qillalon’s sharp gaze and intense presence

Alpha Zane hurriedly returned to his room. The heavy oak door groaned as Alpha Zane pushed it open, stepping into the dimly lit chamber. The familiar space, lined with towering bookshelves and a crackling fireplace, felt suffocating now. He let the door fall shut behind him, the sound echoing like a final verdict.~Vesper Miles is alive and Qillalon is looking for her.~Elder Mauritius’ words still lingered in his mind. He moved to the center of the room and stood still, his broad shoulders slumping ever so slightly. His eyes were distant, unfocused, as though seeing something far beyond the room’s walls. The flickering light of the fire danced across his face, casting sharp shadows that mirrored the storm raging within him.He could still remember Elder Mauritius explaining how Vesper survived the attack."She should be dead… if she’s a wolf, but she’s not.”“What do you mean?” He asks in confusion. “She’s a vampire, Zane. That’s why she survived.” The Elder explains.Presently... H

All curtains and windows are shut. The flicker of firelight danced across the walls of the modest room, casting long shadows that seemed to breathe with the tension in the air. Alpha Qillalon sat on the edge of the bed, his piercing eyes fixed on Vesper, who sat across from him, wrapped in a blanket that seemed far too large for her now. The weight of the conversation lingered between them, heavy and unyielding.“You should come back with me to the Manor,” Alpha Qillalon requested, his tone steady but edged with urgency. “The Omegas deserve to know you’re alive. I deserve to have you there,” he reasoned. Vesper’s gaze dropped to her hands, which fidgeted nervously in her lap. The firelight caught the silver of her earrings—the only part of her that hadn’t changed. She said nothing, her silence filling the room with a tension that Alpha Qillalon felt deep in his chest. He took a deep breath and continued, his voice softer. “I’ve learned a lot while you were gone, Vesper. Vesper resumed her journey to her unknown destination. She’s not even sure what got into her when she asks Carmilla and Elijah to join her in the fight she's uncertain of attending. She clenched her aching chest and lowered her head. She could no longer bear the longing, “May…be… I do care for him and genuinely like him…” She whispered in the air. The coldness of the wind seemed to remind her of her lonesome life.Mindlessly she found herself in front of the saloon again. She spun around and made a beeline for the opposite side, but there was a nagging feeling in her urging her to see Baltazar one last time. She moved her feet back to the saloon’s direction as she smiled faintly. When she entered, the three young vampires were still there talking to Baltazar as if asking for more information about her.Their eyes met, and the young vampires immediately left the place. Almost stumbling on the floor, the door, and the cold pavement outside. She could hear the loud pounding of their

In the Citadel Headquarters command center.Alpha Barkus stared at the flickering monitor, his face darkening as the last footage from the mercenary’s live camera before they got blown out by explosives played out. The feed was shaky, the view obstructed by debris and flashes of light. Then, there it was—the unmistakable silhouette of Citadel Manor, its spires piercing the night sky. The image was clear enough to make his jaw tighten.Beta Lisara, standing at his side, leaned in closer. “Citadel Manor,” she murmured, her voice low and dangerous. “They’re planning an attack, aren’t they?”Alpha Barkus’s eyes narrowed as the screen shifted, showing the maps. Arrows and marks scrawled across the image pointed directly at the manor’s defenses and weak points.“They’ve been planning this for a while,” Alpha Barkus growled. His fists clenched at his sides. “But why the Citadel manor and not the Headquarters?”Beta Lisara’s gaze hardened. “It's less guarded. No humans in sight within the man

She stepped out of the front passenger seat. She closed the door with great strength, and it made the whole car shake and the window glass shattered instantly. The 3 young vampires gasped in fright. They thought the car would roll down the road."Why is she so strong?" Rico asks via a mental link to his friends.Ron gulps down slowly. "Don't ask me, dude. The wind carried whispers of the past, sweeping across the barren plains as Vesper continued to walk into the remnants of Adobe Walls, Texas. The town wasn’t much—a ghost of its former self—but its echoes held stories she needed to remember. It was a ghost town in the eyes of humans and the government, but now it has become a haven for vampires like her. She rummaged in her pocket, took one of the rings out, and wore it in her forefinger. It immediately altered her scent. “For protection,” she mumbled, then her attention landed on the other ring in her pocket—The ring for the mental link. One call and she knew Qillalon would be running to her like a wild beast hungry for her attention. She smiled bitterly as she hid the mental link ring. She resumed walking, her boots crunching against the gravel. The air smelled of mesquite and history, the kind of scent that clung to you like an old memory. She adjusted the brim of her hat, shielding her face from the sinking moonlight, and scann

The Elder is trying to calm the chaos in his mind. But none could pacify the flickering fire inside him.The Elder sat in his cushioned office chair, his form stooped and frail, yet his piercing eyes burned with the sharpness of a man who had seen too much.Around his neck hung a necklace hidden under his thick clothing. Its delicate gold chain seemed almost alive as it glimmered faintly in the warm light, and the pendant—a beautifully decorated vial that contains concentrated nightshade mixed with vervain—looked as though it had been crafted by a master artisan. But the object held an ominous venom. A venom he prepared for Vesper in case she goes rogue. He discreetly felt the vial under his clothes, “So she’s not coming back?” He uttered his voice sounding conflicted rather than relieved. He should be happy, but knowing that they are still in the dark about the Headmaster’s plan, it's bett
