*** Red’s POV

“He’s not as dumb as he looked,” my wolf, Nyx, noted dryly, her voice dripping with reluctant acknowledgement. The wolf tailing us hadn’t been thrown off by our diversion tactics, even if he lumbered along like an ogre.

“He is kinda hot though”, Nyx added.

“Thank you, Captain Obvious,” I muttered, trying to stay focused. It sounded like a beast was on our trail, clumsy and very un-wolf-like. If he were trying to stay hidden, he wasn’t doing a great job of it.

“I’ll be sure to let Dawn know how much you love her gift of ShadowSense,” I teased.

Nyx huffed in response, sulking in the back of my mind.

I rolled my eyes.
