Eamon watched Liliana’s car disappear down the road, the early morning light casting long shadows across the pavement. The suite felt eerily empty now, the echoes of their night together lingering in the silence. He ran a hand through his hair, trying to shake off the lingering warmth of her body against his. It was time to shift gears, to leave the world of intimacy behind (grudgingly) and step back into the light of his other life.

The call he’d received earlier tugged at his thoughts. The case was pressing, a reminder that the world outside was as brutal and unforgiving as ever. As he walked to his car, the weight of his responsibilities settled back onto his shoulders, heavier than before. The city around him blurred as his mind began to sift through the details of the ongoing investigation, forcing thoughts of Liliana back.
