Chapter 6

One

It’s been five years since the Full Moon feast has been held, and it would be another five years tomorrow, everyone was looking forward to this great event. Especially, the Luna’s about to be bonded to their Alpha mate, at this event, some of the unmated ones have the opportunity to also meet their mate since 12 packs will be coming together to celebrate the Moon Goddess and to join the unmated Luna’s to their Alphas.

The Moonlight pack were happiest ones since their Female Alpha Ellie Black, would be getting married to the Sunray’s Alpha male, Sebastian Coleman. The two had been friends since their childhood when their parents were still headed of the pack, Sebastian had been Alpha for five years now since he turned 18. Just recently, Ellie’s parents handed over to her to take control of the Moonlight pack. And now she is to be married to Sebastian.

Ellie was in her office with her best friend Loris Williams, both ladies were talking about the ball while Ellie off mindedly go through the files for the eligible ladies and guys who will attend the event from her pack, she has to make preparations for the less privilege ones who won’t be able to afford the transportation down to the event center.

“ Have you gotten in touch with Sebastian today? ” Loris asked

“ No, his line has been off ” Ellie shrugged not too concerned, she was sure her mate to be would be at the event and they would get married.

“ I noticed he has been acting off ”

That made Ellie to give her friend a bewildered look “ Come off it Loris, Sebastian has just been busy with duties that’s all, you can see how busy I get at times ”

Loris was not at all convinced, she could tell something was off the last time the Alpha visited “ Anyways, whatever you say your highness ”

Ellie laughed “ I know you are not convinced Loris but trust me on this okay?”

“Okay”

They went back on deciding on Loris’s dress for the event since Ellie’s outfit was set. The door opened and the beta, Lucas walked into the office, as usual he had a serious look on his face, for his age he was quiet and well built, he does not just talk. Handsome and a good warrior. “ Beta Mike is here”

Ellie looked at him “Really?, what he doing here?” Ellie stood up “We will meet him at the hall” She said leading the way out, the others following. She went ahead to the hall while Lucas went to inform Mike that the Alpha would now see him.

Ellie was seated already when Lucas walked in with Mike, Loris stayed at the far end to give them space to talk, looking at Beta Miles expression, it must be a bad news for some reason.

“Do have your seat Mike” Ellie told him, Mike had his seat while Lucas and Loris remained standing, they were all almost the same age group that grew up together. “Why are you here?” Ellie asked.

“I bring news from Alpha Sebastian”

“Oh, and what that?” Ellie was confused, why couldn’t Sebastian call her and tell her the news? Why does he have to send his Beta instead? She wondered what was going on “Is he hurt?” It would make sense if he was for him to have sent his Beta.

“Everything is fine Alpha Ellie” Mike said

Ellie knew it wasn’t for Mike to have called her by her title, nothing is actually fine. “Talk to me”

“Alpha Sebastian would not be able to attend the Full Moon Feast tomorrow”

Silence

“What?”

“I’m really sorry, but the Alpha is currently not available”

“How come? He knew we are getting married tomorrow at the Full Moon Feast”

“He has to attend to something urgent”

“Mike, tell me where he went to and stop beating around the bush” Ellie demanded

“I’m sorry but I can’t possibly tell you that, I was only commanded to tell you the Alpha would not be attending the event tomorrow” Mike bowed down avoiding Ellie’s gaze, he was somewhat ashamed but he had to carry out his duty ad the Beta of his pack.

“NOW!” Ellie said in her Alpha voice and the room shook, Loris stiffened and Lucas bowed deeply to his Alpha’s voice while the tone also affected Mike, he bored and he knew he had no choice but to tell the truth at this stage.

“He went to the Azure pack” Mike said

Another silence

“To do what?” Ellie asked her voice strongly controlled

“Alpha Taylor is hurt, the Alpha went to tend to her” Mike said looking down at his shoes

“I see”

“The marriage ceremony has to be postponed till another five years”

“Because Taylor is hurt?” Ellie found it ridiculous, Sebastian wants to postpone their wedding just because Taylor was hurt.

“Yes” Mike answered

“You can leave” Ellie dismissed Mike

“Alpha…”

“Leave Mike”

“Ellie…”

“Please Mike, you have delivered your message, you can leave, see him out Lucas”

“Yes Alpha” Lucas bored and gave Mike a look telling him to just leave, Mike stood up and walked out, Lucas at his heels. After the door closed behind them, Loris walked to the empty seat Mike just left and had her seat, she knew enough not today anything yet, she could see her best friend and Alpha was devastated.

After some few minutes, Loris took Ellie’s hands in hers “What are you going to do?” It would be unwise to ask if she was okay.

Ellie looked her friend in the eyes “I don’t know, I can’t believe Sebastian is going to do this, it might all be a mistake right? Maybe Mike got it all wrong?”

Loris gave a poor smile shaking her head “You need to stay strong”

The door opened and Lucas walked in “And you have to attend the event tomorrow”.

Ellie stared at Lucas as if he has grown an extra head, why? She just can’t stand the shame and humiliation, everyone from the pack and other packs knew she would be getting married to Sebastian tomorrow during the Full Moon Feast and now? Oh no, she can’t stand it. No, Sebastian won’t purposely disgrace her like this, he wouldn’t right? Nothing seems right at all, nothing.

“I can’t, no, no, I can’t” Ellie shook her head in denial

“You have to, present a strong font for the pack members” Lucas told her “The pack first” Lucas said firmly

Ellie always loved his hard work, he would make a great Alpha, but right now she was not in the mood to be told how or what to do, this was also her personal life.

“He is actually right Ellie” Loris said

Ellie glared at her friend for supporting Lucas, she shook her head and withdraw her hand from Loris who let go without complaining.

“He is not even your real mate” Loris said, she knew she was trending on a single line here but it has to be said.

“That is low coming from you” Ellie threw at her “Out”

“As a friend, I’m to tell you the truth at all times, you know where to find me” Loris stood up and started walking away

“Say not a word to my parents” Ellie called after Loris, Loris bowed to show she heard her Alpha.

“Ellie, I trust in your judgment” Lucas said and left quietly trusting his Alpha to make the right decision for herself and the pack.

When Ellie was left alone, she closed her eyes and rubbed her forehead, she just couldn’t’ stomach the thought of it. She stood up and walked to her room at the right wing in the pack house, she preferred staying with her pack members. The pack house was big enough to contain 5000 members, and some preferred staying at their home individually just her mother and father. The pack house has it’s kitchen divided in five sections, headed by the head Omega, the lowest rank in the werewolf world, she made sure none of the Omega were maltreated. She walked into her cleaning well arranged room and went straight to the shower, stripping off her clothes, she would rather have a cold shower to calm herself than to let her wolf take control.

“I am such an idiot” she said to herself

“No you are not” The voice she longed to hear answered her

“Helen, Sebastian…”

“Was never our mate to start with” Helen said cutting Ellie short.

Meet Helen, Ellie’s wolf, a pure white wolf with blue eyes just like Ellie’s eyes. Ellie loved letting down her grey hair, she was a beauty, that she knows and she had never had any reasons to doubt her beauty. She was an only child, growing up was fun with friends around especially Loris, Lucas, Steven her Gemma and Sebastian.

“I took no offense at this though I can feel how hurt you are”

“What do I do now?”

“Leave him”

“But he has not even ended things with me yet!” Ellie said getting under the shower

“Are you going to wait for him to?”

“No but…”

“No but Ellie, our mate is still out there somewhere waiting for us” Helena said and went quiet, Ellie finished her shower and changed clothes. She stood in front of the mirror looking at herself. She shook her head walking to her desk, she took her seat and settled down to work.

Ellie walked down stairs for dinner, on getting to the mini dinning room she could smell her parents lovely scent, her mother smells like rose mixed with earth, her father smelt most of earth.

“We thought you wouldn’t be coming for dinner” Mrs Black said from the left side of the table beside her husband who sat beside her. Instead of answering her mother, Ellie went to take her seat at the head table as the Alpha, Loris was avoiding her eyes, Lucas was not bothered as he went on eating, Steven and his mate Dora was seated side by side too and some few members of the pack like the trainer of the pack Pete and the female warrior Andy and her mate Paul, also one of the strongest in the pack.

“What would you like to have?” Mrs Black asked her daughter after she was seated down.

“Just fruit salad” Ellie said her voice a little bit strong

Loris exchanged looks with Dora and they both looked at Ellie who was fully aware of their exchange but she said nothing.

“ I heard the Crimson pack would not be attending this year Full Moon Feast” Andy said

“You listen to too much gossip Andy” Laughed Mrs Black

“Rumors spread faster than virus” Andy shrugged digging into her muffins.

“How's the transportation for tomorrow going?” Mr Black asked turning to his daughter

Ellie forced a smile on her face and faced her father, she knew he could see past her façade but she didn’t drop the smile “ Fine, everything is set for tomorrow”

“I want the best for this pack” Mr Black said

“I do too dad” Ellie said through gritted teethes, her dad at times can be so overbearing. “I will do all I can to make sure everyone is secured”

“Good” Mr Black said and went back to his meal

Ellie rolled her eyes at her father's forehead and her mother caught her and smiled.

“When do the pack leave tomorrow?” Mrs Black asked

“By four” Lucas answered and went on answering questions, Ellie was glad for that, as she was not in the mood to talk. After the dinner, the Omegas came to clear the table, before Ellie’s parents could hold her back with small talks she quickly escaped to her room, or so she thought, she opened her door and walked in locking the door to stop others from coming in.

“Here you are” A voice said from the direction of her bed and Ellie groaned.

Ellie stayed hidden through out the dinner and at the end she quickly made her way up to her room. She was surprised when no one stopped her, so silently she slipped into her room and locked her door. She rested her forehead on the door and sighed, freedom finally.

“There you are” A voice said startling Ellie

Ellie held her chest in freight “What on earth are you doing here?”

“We need to talk”

“I’m not talking to you, so leave” Ellie said walking to her closet to change into a nightwear

“What are you going to do tomorrow?”

“Have you selected your outfit?”

Loris hissed “Stop changing the topic”

“I’m not” Ellie said as she went to wash her face, she walked back to the room and took her bed “Go to your bed and let me be”

“You are going to the feast, with your head raised up like you don’t give a damn, okay?”

Silence

Both ladies stared at each other, Loris's gaze not weaving, Ellie knowing she was not going to win looked away. “Okay”

“Good, you are my friend and Alpha, I love you, always remember that “ Loris pulled Ellie into a hug.

“Thank you” Ellie hugged her back

Loris pulled away and walked out of the room, Ellie went to her vanity table, picked a comb and ran it through her hair, she turned off the light and went to lay in her bed.

“I wonder if the Crimson pack would finally attend the event, it would be awesome” She spoke out loud, she felt a stir within herself and Helen showed up.

“Are they not the evil pack?” Helen asked

“I really don’t believe they are that bad actually, how can we judge a pack we have not seen for years now?”

“I don’t know, but there’s a truth in all rumors or gossip “ Helen said

“You might be right…”

“You know I'm always right” Helen said rolling her eyes

“You are too proud for my liking” Ellie shook her head “I’m off to sleep”

Helen was grumbling around in Ellie’s head “Go to sleep Helen, I need all the strength I can gather tomorrow”

“Goodnight bullhead” Helen snapped going quiet.

Ellie woke up super early and started preparing for the feast, she went down for breakfast and later went to address her pack members before they all set out for the feast.

Everyone was smiling, talking among themselves, like they have all forgotten that she was to be married to the Alpha of the Sunray pack. That shows how fast people moved on.

“Silence” Ellie heard Lucas voice through the pack mind link and everyone went quiet. That is what the mind link can achieve in a second. The mind link is the channel which a werewolf can communicate with another that is connected without opening the mouth. The pack mind link is the bond between all the pack members, and for someone who is not from the pack, a procedure have to be followed so that the link can be created.

Lucas gave Ellie the go ahead to talk after he was satisfied with the silence. “Good Morning everyone, I know we are all looking forward to this year Full Moon Feast, for those that can’t drive nor have a ride, vehicles are made available for you. And those that would be driving down there, please do so with caution and be at alert always, our men has gone out to scout the land and some would be left behind with the Gemma to take care of the pack, so he rest assured and have fun today” Ellie took a pause “I expect totally discipline and loyalty from everyone of you, let us strive to keep the name and reputation of this pack, for those that would be meeting their mates, I say congratulations in advance” She managed a smile “And for those that wouldn’t, let’s make sure we locate our ride back after the feast”

Silence

“The totally number of those going for the ball is 1230, everyone will move to the parking lot now and we move” Lucas said and everyone went moving, sorting themselves out.

Loris located Ellie that was trying to avoid her, she stopped at her car.

“Are you running away from me?” Loris asked

“Why will I?” Ellie grinned

“I thought as much” Loris checked her Alpha out “Don’t you look dashing?”

“You don’t look bad yourself” Ellie commented, opening the back seat door and getting in, Loris joined her.

Lucas and a warrior took the passenger seat and driver seat and they set off.

“Have you heard from Sebastian?” Loris asked Ellie beside her

“No, he didn’t call and I did not call him”

“Smart of you, he should be the one calling and not you”

Ellie turned her head to look at Loris “When did you became an expert in relationship?”

Loris shrugged “I’m a natural babe” She smiled

“Whatever” Ellie turned to the window and looked as the greens rushed past her and then she felt like letting her wolf out and taking a run, just run till she got tired. But she only closed her eyes and relaxed back enjoying the ride.

Just as Ellie continued staring at the greens outside her window she imagined her white wolf running through the forest and having the time of her life, free, not caring for anyone apart from herself, where she can make any decision and no one will care to correct her. Where she can live alone and just be free but life has already been planned out for her. Born to the Alpha family, no other siblings, no brother that could have taken the Alpha position and freed her from all the stress she is now going through.

Her thoughts shifted to Sebastian, what if Loris was right all along about him? Alpha Taylor, of the Azure pack was an old friend of hers but why would Sebastian have gone to the Azure pack just because their Alpha was injured was a mystery to her until she talked to Sebastian about his disapproving behavior.
