Alice POV
***
I finish my meetings, manage the schedule for next week, and send an email with all the details to Max, the Prince of Dragonair (the realm of Dragons). We have been best friends since childhood and are also business companions. He is the only person I trust after Dad and Ellyn.
Tonight, Dad and I are leaving for Entalia for tomorrow night’s ritual. I’m not getting any good vibes about it, but it has to be done.
By the time I exit the office building, the sky has turned a dark shade of grey. With steady steps, I make my way toward my car in the parking space.
I open my car door, and an alluring scent fills my nostrils. My wolf relaxes, drowning in the pleasure of the sweet, rich scent of earthy forest rain mixed with the masculine aroma of cologne. However, my mind goes into alert mode. My wolf, Rhea, and I both recognize this scent very well. There’s no mistaking it.
It’s him.
A sane part of my human mind screams for me to run—run away from this place, from this realm, and never look back. Believe me, I wish for the same—to escape somewhere in the light, far away from the darkness of my past, where he can’t find me again. But I guess I’m not that lucky.
Rhea howls in pleasure while my human side braces for danger.
I look at my surroundings. The parking area is empty except for the night guard on duty. Ignoring my terrified human instincts, I slide into the driver’s seat and lock the doors securely, taking a moment to keep my emotions in check.
The inside of the car still smells of his essence. It’s hard to control my wolf’s emotions, but I know he is still here, somewhere nearby, watching my every move.
I notice a bouquet of red roses and a small black shiny box sitting in the passenger seat. My mind starts to panic, while my wolf basks in bliss at the mere thought of the devil’s presence nearby.
Rhea wants nothing more than to step out of the car and search for her mate—my naive wolf. I break the connection with her and force myself to concentrate on the matter at hand.
I pick up the bouquet of red roses, which seems to mock me, daring me to act. I open the note attached to it.
In neat, curly handwriting, it reads:
“Congrats, my love. Tomorrow will be a big day for both of us.”
There’s no mention of his name—there’s no need. I know who sent this and why.
Taking a deep breath to calm myself, I set the note and bouquet back on the seat and open the black box. Inside is a white gold ring, crafted in the shape of a crown with beautiful sapphires adorning its edges.
If it’s possible, my panic deepens, and my heart races like a hummingbird. He knows. Of course, he knows about my crown ceremony tomorrow—the entire realm knows.
Suddenly, my phone beeps, and I jump in my seat. Placing a hand on my heart, I try to steady its frantic beating.
I check my phone.
The screen displays a text message from an unknown number. With shaky hands, I open it.
“Whoa! Kitten, don’t panic. I can still feel your heartbeat. I love you, you know that, right? Don’t worry, babe. I’m always with you. ♡”
I glare at the screen in horror. Sure, we can feel each other’s heartbeats because of our bond, but it isn’t strong enough for him to feel my emotions or read my mind.
Placing my phone on the passenger seat, I close my eyes and take a deep breath to calm my wild heart.
Not now, Alice! I tell myself. This is not the time or place to break.
And it works. I drive out of the parking area with a stoic expression.
I want to show him that he no longer has any power over me—not anymore. I know he is still nearby, lurking in the shadows with his signature smirk on his face, enjoying the entire scene. Only, I am not going to give him the satisfaction.
This time, my rules are clear: if the devil wants to play, fine.
GAME ON, MATE. Be ready to lose this time.

I reach my apartment building late at night. I park in the garage and walk to the back of the apartment.
In the moonlight, the back garden looks breathtaking. Nature’s greenery bathes in the silver glow of the moonlight.
I close my eyes and inhale the chilled night air. Just two hours left until we depart for Entalia, the place where it all starts.
---
One year earlier...
In Entalia, Queen Amelia, the rightful ruler of the realm, organizes a grand ball in her castle on the occasion of the blue moon.
People from all ten packs of the realm are attending, along with their prospective alphas and mates. The event provides an opportunity for young, unmated wolves to find their mates, blessed by the Moon Goddess.
Standing in front of a mirror, I look at my reflection. I am wearing a full-length royal blue silk gown, off-shoulder, with crystals shimmering perfectly against my pale skin. My chocolate eyes, enhanced by a smoky eye-shadow look, and perfectly done makeup, pair well with my waist-length raven hair styled in loose curls. Three-inch black Gucci heels and a white gold sapphire ring adorn my right hand—the insignia of the crown princess.
The perfect picture of royalty.
Believe me, I hate showing off my royal status, but sometimes, I can’t avoid it. I don’t want to embarrass my mother in front of the entire realm. Besides, this is my first attempt to search for my mate after turning 20 last month.
Seriously, a mate?
The mere thought of being mated to someone terrifies me. I can’t imagine spending my life with some dominant wolf who demands my complete submission.
Wolves are territorial by nature, and I belong to the royal alpha bloodline. As the future Queen, the concept of submission doesn’t sit well with me. Under strict orders from the Queen, I have no choice but to attend the party.
---
Before descending the stairs, I silently pray to the Moon Goddess that I won’t find my mate tonight.
Completely unaware of the plans the Moon Goddess has in store for me.
Alice POV ***I head downstairs and meet my two best friends, Nate and Kara. I hug them both and congratulate them. They recently discovered they’re mates. They’re happy about that, and I am happy for them.Nate looks handsome in his black tuxedo, which fits perfectly on his frame like a second skin. His dark brown hair is styled neatly, and his blue eyes sparkle whenever he looks at his mate.Kara wears a knee-length baby pink dress that compliments her olive-colored skin and light blue eyes. Her light makeup, silver-colored high heels, and shoulder-length blonde hair that hangs down straight, complete her look. Both of them ask in unison when they notice my nervousness, “What’s wrong?”I shrug and reply, “Just nervous. And as you guys know, finding a mate is my worst nightmare.”Okay, I might be overreacting a little, only a little.Kara steps closer, taps my shoulder, and says with a wicked smirk, “Don’t worry, babe. I bet the Moon Goddess forgot to make one for you.” Nate and I bu
Alice POV ***Beautiful high mountains are covered with greenery; the river water is as lustrous as a mirror, illuminated by the golden and blue lights of Entalia’s sun.The outskirts of the capital are surrounded by a dark, thick forest with sky-high trees and a shiny magical protection fence. The landscape contains four main areas: Royal High, Downtown, the Officials’ Quarters, and the Royal Court Hall.Royal High is where the royal members live in a luxurious and beautiful palace—a glass castle perched at the top of the Black Mountain Heights. The area also includes servants' quarters for royal staff, surrounded by the endless beauty of waterfalls and lush greenery. The Officials’ Quarters are designated for Alphas, generals, commanders, and other ranks—Betas, Gammas, Deltas—and their families. These quarters are luxurious, with accommodations suited to their ranks, but most of them prefer to stay within their packs and use them only when they are in the capital.Downtown is home t

She can’t discriminate between right and wrong because Rhea knows nothing more than that she wants her mate. She wants to touch him, feel him, and seal the mate bond with him.I can’t blame her. It’s a primal need for a wolf: survival and breeding. She can’t help her wolf nature, her possessiveness, and her dominant side. It’s in our blood. And those stupid tingles and the sexy sound of his growl only make it harder. He growls against my lips, kissing my jaw, and I get lost in the amazing, warm feeling of his mouth and those magnificent tingles. He continues kissing and biting my flesh, following from my neck to my collarbone like a hungry beast while ripping my dress and black lace bra with his claws.I feel the chill air on my b
Gabriel POV---My eyes pop open, a layer of sweat glistening on my forehead. I had another nightmare. A sudden panic grips me until I remember that she left long ago.Keeping my eyes closed, I sit up and rest my head against the headboard. Taking a deep breath, I inhale her heavenly scent still lingering in her room.Yes, I’m in her room, as always, in her bed to calm my anger and my wolf with her mere essence.I know she’s not here. She’s hiding somewhere, running from the monster of her nightmares—her mate. II’m Gabriel Nicholas, Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack, known as psycho Alpha in the realm of Lycans and werewolves. Every day since I managed to escape, I prepared myself for this moment and always wondered: how bad could this be? I’m not stupid enough to think that a mere dungeon cell could stop him for long.I had one chance to escape his clutches, and I took it. I drugged him with wolfsbane and locked him in a dungeon cell. How else do you think I managed to escape that hell? And now, here I am, standing in front of him again, on the verge of death, but still stupidly stubborn as I refuse to bow down to him. “Oh, don’t you think becoming the Queen of the realm comes with some perks?” I ask with sass. I free myself from his grip and walk to my closet, choosing a dress for tonight that I’m not going to wear since Ellyn already has it planned.“Ah, of course, my Queen. How stupid of me to forget that,” he replies with sarcasm, his footsteps stopping
Alice POV****By the time I finish my hot bath, it’s already dark outside. I get into my room and notice a beautiful emerald-colored dress lying proudly on my bed, waiting for me.It must be the dress Ellyn bought, I thought. I wasn't expecting her to keep my taste in mind. It’s a stunning full-length gown, shoulderless, with golden threads and crystal work on top.I quickly get dressed and do my hair in loose curls. In the name of jewels, I put on a teardrop diamond pendant and my sapphire ring.Since it’s a barefoot ritual, I’m spared the heels. There is still time before the ceremony starts when I leave my suite and make my way toward the castle’s garden, where the ritual will take place under the presence of the blue moon.As I walk through the castle’s hallways, I smile and thank people for their blessings and compliments. As I reach the final flight of stairs, I stop dead in my tracks. My breath hitches as my eyes land on a breathtaking sight before me.Moon Goddess, have mercy
Gabriel POV****Standing in the river water, bathing in the glory of the moonlight, she looks like an image to behold. A pure, untouched deity. There's this great urge to hide her in my arms, shield her from the lustful gazes of the others gnawing at her with interest. It makes blood boil in my veins. I want to beat the shit out of every last one of them who dares to look at what’s mine.Mine! A growl escapes me, making everyone avert their gazes from my mate, or at least some do.She takes her right hand to her lips and bites down into her palm. The sweet scent of her blood fills the air, intoxicating and pure. Drops of blood drip into the water as she lifts her hand upward toward the moon and takes her vow.“I, Alice Amelia Michaelson, only heir of the late Queen of Entalia, Amelia Angelia Michaelson, vow to protect and serve every wolf and Lycan submitted to me as their QUEEN AND RIGHTFUL RULER OF ENTALIA!” she declares, her voice commanding and authoritative, her chocolate eyes g
Alice POV The night sky always looked promising enough to give me the enthusiasm and hope that ′best is yet to come’. I took a deep breath in spine-chilled air, enjoying the luxurious silver night of my queendom. It was still dark outside. I was on my balcony with a glass of wine in hand, and my head rested back down on my comfortable swing chair. Being the queen of the entire realm was quite a challenging task. I spent my entire month doing my queen duties, renewing peace treaties with other realms, council meetings, waiving disputes of earth businesses, and finally putting my so-called mate a step ahead to hell. *** “Alpha Nicholas, what do you have to say?” Councilor William asked. “Would you be aware of what a shame
Alice P.O.V***Finally, the time comes for what everyone was waiting for, since the faces of some of us revealed, I can feel the anger-filled people in my kingdom as they all stand at the border of Entalia, and in front of them standing an army of witches. Staring at each other, hatred can be seen in everyone’s eyes for their opponents. It sounds crazy but where witches are fighting to prove their superiority over us, we are fighting to save what belongs to us, our home, our people’s. Whether we have different reasons for a fight but ending will be the same for most of us, bitter truth but nobody can do anything about it as we have to do our tasks.I looked downwards towards my hand when someone held me causing me to turn to look towards the two men who were
