“You cannot tell the truth about yourself to Lady Elizabeth,” Vespara said quietly, her voice carrying the burden of something she didn’t want to admit. “I only wanted to get you treated. So I lied to her. I will confess... but only when the time is right.”

I nodded slowly, the pain in my body dull compared to the ache of confusion twisting inside me.

“Will you at least tell me,” I asked, “why everyone says I killed someone?”

Vespara hesitated, then exhaled. “It’s not really about you,” she said. “We lost many soldiers in the attack. And... we lost our beta. Elizabeth’s grandson. He was very close to the Alpha—and to everyone else in the pack. His death was a blow none of us were prepared for. Now, everyone is angry. They want someone to blame. Your pack... and you, specifically, have become the target of their grief.”

I smiled bitterly, the corners of my mouth lifting in something far from amusement. “Your people killed my mother,” I said. “Should I blame the doctor who treated me fo

  • Alpha’s Forbidden Temptation   Chapter 17

Dante’s POVWhen I returned to my place, the silence didn’t soothe me. It only made her voice louder in my head.Scarlet.The same woman I once touched like she was sacred. The same woman who lay in this very room, tangled in sheets and moonlight, her breath soft against my chest as we unravelled one another. Now, she was a prisoner. And I... I was expected to decide whether she would live or die? What kind of twisted, merciless joke was this?I paced the length of my room like a caged beast, fury curling through every breath. I was angry at her for being here. Angry at fate for putting her back in my path. Angry at myself—for how I felt.I couldn’t find her when I needed to.Now I had found her and I might have to kill her?I spent the rest of the day like a miserable bastard. Brooding. Fuming. Thinking too much. Feeling too much.By the time the evening meeting began, the burden in my chest hadn’t eased. The pack gathered, the room filled with sharp voices and sharper memories. I st

As the council dispersed, a few elders approached me.“Alpha,” one of the elders said as the room began to thin out, “regarding your decision to appoint a new Beta... we believe the time is approaching.”I didn’t respond right away. I already knew what was coming.“We understand,” he continued, “that you’ve chosen to wait out of respect for the late Beta, to honour the mourning period. But the longer the seat stays empty, the more fractures will form within the pack.”He wasn’t wrong. The ambition was a restless thing, and the position of Beta had already become the centre of quiet scheming.“The politics have begun,” the elder added, lowering his voice. “They’re watching. Every candidate, every word you say.”Of course, they were.Another elder leaned forward. “Before his passing, the late Beta was heard saying there was no one better suited to lead beside you except Lady Vespara. If you choose to appoint her, we will not object.”But.The unspoken word hung between us like smoke.Th

Scarlet’s POV“How are you feeling, dear?” Elizabeth asked softly, her warm eyes scanning my face for signs of pain.“Better,” I replied honestly. It had been three days since I arrived in this strange but quiet corner of the pack. The medicine Elizabeth had given me was working faster than I expected. The ache in my throat had dulled, and the bruises no longer burned with every movement. I could finally breathe without wincing.“You have been cooped up in that little room long enough,” she said, gently taking my arm. “It’s hard to heal when all you see are four walls. Let’s take a walk. The air will do you good.”And so, the two of us strolled through her garden, a sprawling, private space tucked behind her home. There were flowers blooming in every direction, but the scent in the air wasn’t entirely floral. It was sharp, complex... something richer than petals and earth.“Doctor,” I asked, sniffing lightly, “why does it smell so strong in here? It doesn’t smell like flowers… even th

Scarlet’s POV“Scarlet, I need to talk to you about something,” Elizabeth said as she approached me, her tone gentler than usual.I turned to her, sensing the weight behind her words. “What is it?”“It’s about your wolf.”I blinked. “Red?”She gave a slow nod. “Do you remember when I mentioned that I have a team of disciples and a small research department?”“I do,” I said quietly, remembering how proud she had looked when she told me.“There’s a case that came up recently. A young girl—she’s past the usual shifting age, but she hasn’t shifted yet. Her parents believed she was wolfless.” Elizabeth paused, her brow furrowed with concern. “One of my disciples went to examine her. At first, he said the same—no wolf. But after I asked him to check for something specific, based on what I observed in you… the results changed.”My heart beat a little faster.“She does have a wolf,” Elizabeth continued. “A very small, dormant one. Not strong enough to surface on its own. And she has no control

Scarlet’s POVWhen I reached the Alpha’s estate, I realised it was the same place where he had thrown that extravagant ball. The estate looked just as it had that night. But now it looked empty. As if deserted.I was told the estate was divided into two parts. The front was for official business, and the back—the private side—was Alpha’s personal residence. No one was allowed back there.Of course. No one but me. Again. As I stepped inside, something twisted in my chest. I had been here before. This wasn’t just any place. This was that place. The same room. The same scent in the air. The same floor we had...I closed my eyes and tried to push the memory away. But it clung to my skin like a second layer. The shame, the heat, the confusion—it was all still there, just beneath the surface. As I moved further in, I heard the soft click of the front door closing behind me. The sound startled me, and for a moment, my breath caught. Then I let out a heavy sigh, reminding myself I wasn’t in da

Dante’s POVAs she left the room and shut the door behind her with more fire than strength, I let out a slow, amused smile.Did she make me angry? No.She tried to.But I saw the tremble in her fingers. The way her voice cracked despite the venom in her words. She was terrified yet defiant. And that defiance... stirred something in me I shouldn’t be feeling. She was trying so hard to stand tall. To be fearless. And gods, wasn’t she beautiful when she burned. It was maddening. The same girl who had clung to me like a lifeline hours ago now spat accusations in my face. She hated me like she had every right to. And yet, some part of her still responded to me, like her body hadn't caught up to her mind’s rebellion. And some twisted part of me... responded to her too.She had no idea what she did to a man like me when she stood there, voice shaking, but spine straight. Like a flame daring the wind to try and snuff it out.A contradiction. A storm wrapped in bruises and scars.Something unt

  • Alpha’s Forbidden Temptation   Chapter 23

Scarlet’s POVDante went to work. Or at least, that’s what I assumed. When I woke up, the place was empty and eerily quiet, save for the soft hum of the air conditioning. I hadn’t slept all night. My mind wouldn’t rest. I hadd pretended to be brave, but beneath that facade was a nervous, awkward girl unsure of what came next. How was I supposed to face him now?Hunger eventually pulled me out of bed. I wandered into the kitchen, half expecting emptiness, but instead, I found it fully stocked. The fridge brimmed with fruits, milk, cheese, and things I could never even pronounce. On the counter was a note in Dante’s sharp, clean handwriting:"Feel at home."I raised a brow at that. Feel at home? Alright then. If that’s what you want, I’ll feel at home. There was a massive television in the living room probably the size of my entire old bedroom. At my home, I was never allowed such luxuries. I couldn’t even glance at the TV, let alone touch the remote. Joy, comfort, even laughter, they we

  • Alpha’s Forbidden Temptation   Chapter 24

Dante’s POVWhen I returned home, she was sprawled on the sofa, food packets scattered around her. She was fast asleep, completely unaware of the world. It was almost midnight—she had clearly been sleeping like this for a while. But why here? Why not in her own room?I gently picked her up in my arms and carried her to her bed. As soon as I laid her down, she curled up and hugged her own hand, like a child seeking comfort. I just stood there, watching her. She looked so peaceful, so quiet, so… innocent. I couldn’t take my eyes off her.And that’s when I realized—this woman was making me feel weak. Soft. I couldn’t afford that.I slowly took my hand out of hers and walked away from the room, reminding myself not to let my guard down. This woman would only bring chaos into my life. Destruction. Nothing more.Just as I stepped out of her room, the doorbell rang.Who could be here at this hour?I opened the door to find Rome standing outside.I narrowed my eyes. “Aren’t you supposed to be

  • Alpha’s Forbidden Temptation   Chapter 32

Scarlet’s POVWhen I woke up, the first thing I noticed was how soft the bed felt, definitely not prison-grade. My fingers brushed against smooth silk, and as my vision adjusted, I realized I was no longer in that simpler room. This room was… lavish. Warm golden lighting. Rich wood panelling. A faint scent of something masculine like cedar and danger.I sat up slowly, my head still a bit heavy. That’s when I saw him.Dante.Leaning casually against the window, half-naked, holding a glass of amber whiskey like he was in a cologne commercial. His tattoo curled down the side of his torso like it had been drawn by sin itself, highlighting every sculpted inch of his abs. And that smirk—God, that smirk. Equal parts arrogant and devastating. What on earth was wrong with you, Scarlet? Why do you want to pounce on him? “Why am I here?” I asked, trying to sound firm, though my eyes may have lingered a little too long on his chest. He took a slow sip of his drink, then gave me a look that was in

Third POVWhen Alpha Edward walked out of the negotiation room, his Beta was already waiting for him with a report in his hand. His expression was tense, and Edward could tell something serious had happened even before reading a single word. The report stated that Scarlet Rossetti had been attacked in her room.Special security soldiers had been posted near the rooms where the prisoners were staying. These guards were not noticeable to ordinary people, and their duty was to protect and monitor the prisoners at all times. According to the report, Alyssa, the Luna of the Moonlord Pack, had entered Scarlet’s room. A few minutes later, she came out alone. No one knew exactly what happened inside, but when Rome and his men entered the room shortly after Alyssa left, they found Scarlet badly injured. She was lying on the floor, bruised and bleeding. Rome had immediately called a doctor and strengthened the security around her room. When Scarlet first arrived at Edward’s territory, she had n

Dante’s POVThe room was silent as Alpha Juno held out the treaty. Alpha Edward sat across from me, trying to appear calm, but I saw the flicker of worry in his eyes. My gaze swept across the table once, then returned to the paper in front of me.I stood still for a moment, and then, I said,“I refuse.”A sharp breath was heard. Alpha Edward leaned forward, trying to reason with me, his voice laced with urgency. “Alpha Dante, please. The three packs are suffering. If you don’t sign this treaty, you’ll be standing against a peace that could save countless lives. Let us not allow your personal vendetta to destroy what could be a new beginning.”I chuckled, low and bitter. Then I raised my fist and brought it down not with full force, but enough to rattle the entire table. Papers fluttered. Everyone stiffened.“A greater peace? For whom exactly?” I growled, my voice low and dangerous. “Peace for these bastards?” I pointed toward the Alpha of the Moon Lord Pack and the Alpha of the Darkmoon

The tears stung my eyes, and suddenly, Alyssa stopped. Her grip on my neck loosened just enough for me to suck in a breath."Your life belonged to me," she said, her voice dripping with venom. "I will be the one to kill you, not them."Her words hit harder than her blows. She was the most cruel person I had ever known. More crueler than Hector or my mother. She was twisted, hides behind a smile but has the heart of a murderer. She has no conscience. She would never realise that she had done wrong to me. As she started to leave, I whispered with the last bit of strength I could muster, “I saw… I saw how Mom died. I didn’t get her killed. You did. You’re selfish. You’re a monster, just like Hector. You’re a murderer, Alyssa.”although I could not fight against her but I won't be quiet. I will tell her how wrong she was. What she had done? Enough was enough! I would not keep my calm anymore. I am not scared of beaten up. She froze for a moment, her back to me, but the moment was fleeti

  • Alpha’s Forbidden Temptation   Chapter 28

Scarlet’s POVLater, I learned the truth that Bloodmoon Pack was acting as the neutral party and the negotiator between the three packs. They wanted the war to end. A fragile peace was to be discussed behind those closed doors where four Alphas sat at one table, deciding the fate of many. Including mine.As negotiations began, the prisoners from both sides were moved to resting quarters, rooms the Bloodmoon Pack had arranged for us. Mine was small but clean, with a soft bed and fresh sheets. I should have been grateful, but the uncertainty gnawed at me.The moment the door closed behind me, I buried my face in the pillow and screamed. It was a muffled cry of frustration and helplessness. I had no idea what would come of the treaty.Would I be sent back? The thought sent a chill through me.The week I had spent at Dante’s pack—the Phantom Moon—had been the best week of my life. There were no interrogations, no cruelty, no threats. We barely exchanged words, but his silence was kinder t

  • Alpha’s Forbidden Temptation   Chapter 27

Scarlet's POVI looked down at the woman crying in my arms—Alyssa. My so-called sister. The picture of grief and biterness mixed into one. Her tears streamed down her cheeks like a perfect performance, her voice trembling just enough to tug at the hearts of those watching. But I knew better. Each time I looked at her, I saw the face of someone who had helped destroy everything I once loved. I saw the girl who alomng with her mother harmed me always. I saw the woman who let injustice bleed through our halls and did nothing. I saw the one who got her own mother killed through her selfishness and lies. And now, she stood here, pretending to care.“Scarlet, I am so happy to see you well,” Alyssa said between sobs, still clinging to me like we had never been apart. Her voice broke at all the right places. Her timing was perfect. She looked beautiful even while crying. She always had. It made people believe her. Feel sorry for her. Want to protect her.But I knew her heart. And I knew she w

  • Alpha’s Forbidden Temptation   Chapter 26

Scarlet’s POVI think rest is not written in my fate.Just when I had begun to feel a little bit of peace in my heart, I was ordered to move again. No one told me where I was going. No one bothered to explain why. They simply put me in a car with one silent driver. I looked ahead and saw nearly twenty cars in front of me and twenty more behind. The entire convoy moved through unfamiliar lands, and I sat there, quiet and uncertain, with questions pressing heavily on my chest.Where are we going. Why now.I had no answers. Only fear that crawled beneath my skin. I stared out the window and watched as we crossed familiar borders and moved deeper into enemy territory. That was when it struck me. We were entering the BloodMoon Pack. Why are we going here. I whispered it to myself, though no one was there to listen. The dread only grew heavier. When the cars stopped, I was led out along with others. I turned to look and saw men who wore the same expression I had. Some of them were from my p

  • Alpha’s Forbidden Temptation   Chapter 25

Dante’s POVIt had been a week since Scarlet moved in with me. She didn’t talk much not that I expected her to. I didn’t push her to smile or pretend she was happy. Still, the way she moved around my house was like she belonged here and it was enough to get under my skin. She didn’t ask for permission to act like the queen of my place. She walked like she owned the damn place. And then this morning, everything shifted.A messenger arrived unannounced, wrapped in black and crimson with the unmistakable crest of the BloodMoon Pack on his chest. My wolves let him through without a fight. Of course, they did. BloodMoon had stayed out of this war from the beginning. They didn’t pick sides when hell broke loose between my pack, the MoonLords, and the Darkwood wolves. They just watched from their tower in the north. I met the messenger in the council hall.He wasn’t one for pleasantries. “The MoonLord and Darkwood packs have reached out to BloodMoon,” he said. “They want a ceasefire. A trea
