~Liam's POV~
I thought that if I stayed in the city, away from my pack for a few days then my aunt would stop bugging me for the same old thing. But I was wrong... I guess, now she loves keeping her nose in my personal life. The continuous rings of my phone irked me so much that I switched off the phone and gave all of my attention to my colleagues sitting in front of me. At least now she won't be able to call me about the same thing. "So what do you suggest, Mr Wirght? Should we start the project with Cohens or not?" My colleague, Mr Jones asked me. "In my opinion, we should wait a little. Their last project failed miserably and now they have taken big investments from Smiths. Let's see what's the result of that investment and project and then will come to a decision," I said. Others nodded their head in agreement with my words and I saw a waitress coming towards us with a tray filled with food in her hands. She isn't the one who came to serve wine to us... That waitress... Was different. And by different I mean she was a werewolf. Her scent told me that she was a werewolf but this new waitress is a human. I wonder where the previous one went... "I am noticing that you are thinking about her too much... Do you like her? Because I do..." Leo, my wolf said in my mind. "You do? How? You said you will not find anyone attractive apart from the one who is made for you," I asked. How come he found any other she-wolf attractive? "I didn't say she is attractive," Leo huffed. "Then? Why do you like her?" "I don't know... I saw her and liked her... That's it. She felt different." "Hmm... Maybe because lately, you have been seeing human females a lot around you. Seeing a werewolf's beauty or scent made you miss the shewolves back in our pack," I chuckled. "Maybe..." He said and faded away in the back of my mind. I was taking a sip of wine when my mind drifted back to the blonde-haired girl who poured the wine into our glasses and I closed my eyes... She was beautiful... Her dirty blonde hair was tied in a sleek ponytail with waves at the end, and there was no makeup on her face; only her lips were tinted pink. She was glowing so much without makeup that she caught my gaze in just a snap which is quite surprising for me as well. No woman has caught my attention the way she did... It's not that I am a virgin or I never slept with women, but she... She was different... I tried to make her look at me but she was so dedicated to her job that she did not bother to spare me a glance. I chuckled, that's the first time any woman has ignored me like this... I have never been ignored in my life but the way she did was commendable. "She is a werewolf... She knows you are an alpha and it's not good to look an alpha in the eyes," Leo proudly said. Yeah... It is. I took my attention to the steak placed in front of me and was about to take a bite when my colleague Fabian's phone rang, and he glanced at me with furrowed brows, "It's your secretary, Mr Wright." "My secretary is calling you?" I confusingly asked. He nodded his head and I told him to pick up the call. I don't know why she is trying to contact him. "Sorry to disturb you, Mr Fabian, but I need to talk to Mr Wright. His phone is not reachable and there is an emergency," I heard my assistant's voice over the call. He handed me his phone and bawled my hands into fists; it better be something important; otherwise, she would lose her job today. I hate when my employees try to contact me like this. "What is it, Amelia?" "Sorry, sir, for contacting you like this, but your aunt is calling endlessly. I told her that you were in a meeting but she wasn't listening. She wants to talk to you now and as your phone was not reachable, she called on all official numbers. She told me to tell you to call her as soon as possible." Damn... What the fuck Aunt Charlotte wants to do? Why couldn't she leave me alone for once? "Fine..." I said and disconnected the call with her. I excused myself from the table and switched on my phone. There were twenty missed calls from my aunt and five missed calls from my best friend, Victoria. My hand went to massage my temples, and I sighed; I don't know how and what they will take to let me live peacefully. Aunt's call again graced my phone and I picked it up with a heavy sigh coming out of my mouth, "I am in a meeting. Why don't you understand?" "And why don't you understand that this pack is your responsibility and you are my responsibility? Your father left you in my hands, Liam. What I am supposed to tell him, huh?" She complained in a sharp voice. "You are not obliged to tell him anything. You know he died three years ago. Let it slide for once, I am not a kid," I sighed while trying to suppress my growl. "You need to come back, Liam." "Do not order me," I said, my eyes closed and my aura getting higher and higher. "I am not ordering you, son. I am worried for you and the pack. You need to find the right girl before it's too late. You know a pack gets weaker and weaker without its luna standing beside its alpha." She softly said. "And I am not late yet. I am only twenty one," I said and gritted my teeth. Why the fuck she keeps on reminding me of things on which I don't have any control? She should take a long vacation at some place where there is no network connectivity. "You will be twenty two next month. And for an alpha with enemies out there who are keeping eagle eyes on his pack, it's late," She sighed. "I will be the one deciding it," I said and disconnected the call. Fuck it... I don't want to do what she's suggesting. I want to do it my way. "But she won't stop until we find the one for us. We can't let her get into our lives, I hate it," Leo growled in my head. "I know... I don't know in which part of the world our mate is," I sighed in frustration and ran my fingers in my hair. "Sometimes it takes long to find our mate. I suggest you keep looking for her and shut your aunt's mouth as well," Leo said. "And how do you think I should do that?" "Get a wife." "What?" Has he gone mad? "Yes... Get a wife."~Hazel's POV~ I slammed the door of my apartment hard behind me and picked up the lamp placed on the table to my right. Imagining it to be Liam's neck, I held it tightly in my hand and kept putting pressure on it while trying to dig my nails into it. What the fuck he thinks of himself? Am I a chewing gum? Or a freaking toy with which he can play whenever he wants? What the heck does he think of me? He can't enter my life whenever he wants and leave when he feels bored! My life is not a garden for him to walk around! I wish I had never met him... And even if I did once, I wish I would have never met him again... Why does he have to be in that restaurant only? There were plenty of restaurants as per his class in this big city, so why the heck did he choose to come over there? Wait... Was that because of me? Fucking yes! He came there for me! How can I still be so stupid? He kept an eye on me and entered my life when he thought it would be beneficial for him
~Hazel's POV~ I pulled my denim skirt a little down, which reached below my knees, and straightened my white turtle neck sleeveless top while taking a deep breath. I don't know where I am getting myself into or what the result would be, I just know one thing... I won't cry anymore when I can do things my way. I cried enough and let people treat me the way they wanted... It's time for me to take a stand for myself and prove to people that wolf or not, they cannot treat me like shit. Not anymore. After I made the decision to accept Liam's proposal, I reached out to him on the number that he left for me. And now... Here I am... Standing in front of a coffee shop to discuss the contract he has to offer. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, I could do this. If he can break my heart, I can break his, too. Just our ways are gonna be different. Also, I can take care of my baby very well with the money he is going to give me. And I don't mind taking money from him as he is
~Hazel's POV~ My heart was pounding like crazy in my chest... It felt like I was running out of breath and my heart would explode at any moment. My sweaty palms told me how nervous I was to be here... In a small space, sitting in the car after signing the contract... I didn't know where this contract was going to take me. I don't know if it's right or wrong... I just know one thing, these people gave me a lot of sleepless nights filled with a lot of tears and heartaches. I remember the time when I was fainting now and then and was dizzy all day because I couldn't sleep for straight seven days... For two days after my eighteenth birthday, I tried very hard to shift into my wolf, but my shift didn't happen. At first, people found it concerning that my shift wasn't taking place and it might become dangerous for my health and identity if I shifted in front of people who are not meant to know anything about us. But then... just after only two days, their behaviour and concern
~Hazel's POV~ I heard knocks on the door, and with relief coming back into my body, I rushed to open the door and hugged Scarlett who was standing outside the room. "Oh god, Scarlett, I can't tell you how relieved I am to see you." "Hazel... What's - " I pulled her inside the room and shut the door, securing the lock. "Do you know where Liam is?" I asked her. "Liam, huh? Is he your mate? Is our alpha your mate?" She asked with pure joy and excitement laced in her voice. I wish I could return the same excitement as her... He might be my mate but he is dick to me. "This is not the answer to my question," I sighed. "Alpha is with his aunt. She is doing some questioning with him as he brought his wife unannounced into the packhouse," She said. "But -" I cut her off and asked, "All rooms of the packhouse are soundproof, right?" She nodded her head, "Yeah." Great, at least now I won't be fearing Liam hearing us ever. "Hazel, what are you doing? First, y
~Hazel's POV~ I slowly caressed all my pockets where I hid the flower petals earlier after showing them to Scarlett and looked at Liam, who walked toward the small bar he had in his room. I didn't notice the bar until he walked towards it... When did he get a bar in his room? I get the room is giant, but last time when I was here... never mind. I don't want to think about the last time. He poured whisky into a glass and glanced at me from his shoulder, "Do you want some?" "No, I am good," I said. "I think you should have some... That's the only way you will tell me the truth," He voiced in a cold voice. Truth? What does he mean? Does he know anything? I hope not... "What do you mean?" I asked. He sat on the couch and tilted his head towards the space beside him, motioning me to sit. I sat on the couch, maintaining my distance from him, and prepared myself for all the questions that he was going to ask me. He came from a little chit-chat with his aunt an
~Hazel's POV~"You need to dress nicely," I heard Liam's voice from the outside. Nicely? I don't even know what is dressing up at home! I have completely forgotten it in the past 4 months! "Why do I have to do this? This was not a part of our deal," I replied and sat on the ground against a wardrobe, feeling anxious, angry, and confused at the same time. "Did you forget that you are my wife now? And..." I noticed the door knob twisting and quickly ran to lock it before he could enter into the closet. "What the hell?" I yelled from the inside. "I just want to help in choosing what's best for today's gathering. You will be coming in front of the pack as my wife and Luna of the Silver Moon pack, not as some lone saddie wolf," He said. "Thank you for the reminder," I rolled my eyes and went back to my bag, which consisted only of oversized tomboy clothes. I have never seen a Luna making an appearance in front of a crowd so I don't know how she dresses but I am dam
~Hazel's POV~ I thought handling the tingles in my hand and controlling the butterflies in my stomach due to the mate bond would be difficult for me to handle but I guess I was wrong... Again... Handling all the glares coming my way with so much hatred in the pack's all pick me girls eyes was more than that. It looks like they just want to find me alone and snap my head off my body. But I guess I can still handle the disgust in their eyes for me as I know I won't be seeing them often around me but... Liam's aunt... I don't know how to identify what she has been thinking of me. Sometimes it looks like she is happy with me staying in the packhouse but sometimes I feel like she doesn't like me. Though she didn't say anything mean to me I just feel like she believes the pack people more than Liam by looking at the way she has been ignoring me and giving me judgy death glances sometimes. But I hope that's just my overthinking. Liam held my hand and took me onto the stage wh
~Hazel's POV~ "What the hell was that?" I asked Liam and sat on the chair. "I just saved you from a full-blown inquiry session. You still don't know what to tell her," He shrugged. "You could have said something else," I sighed and shook my head in disappointment. "You are my wife, Hazel. We need to act like a couple," He plainly said. Ugh! I don't think I have any other option than this. I signed a contract of a lot of embarrassment for myself when I signed that marriage contract. He took a box out from his drawer and placed it in front of me, "I saw you using that old-fashioned button phone... Who uses that phone nowadays?" His scoff made me narrow my eyes at him, "Thanks but no thanks. I am happy with that old-fashioned phone." "You need this. Since I am not marking you, we cannot mind link with each other. We need to contact each other without getting noticed by others. And your noisy phone will not let us do that," He said coldly. I felt a sharp pain in my hear
~Liam's POV~"I should take notes of this..." I whispered. "Wait till you see more," She giggled. "I thought it was a movable almirah..." She shook her head, "It isn't. It looks like one from the outside but it's not. The center part won't budge from its place as you already saw it's a door to this small room." The room was very small, enough only for a person to stand in, so Hazel walked into the room and turned to her right, where a giant locker was placed. She placed her thumb on its scanner and took glasses from the stand. The glasses seemed to get some... Wait... Are they scanning her eyes? "Your eyes are getting scanned?" I asked in awe. "Yup," She chuckled. What the heck? "I thought I had the best protection in my packhouse," I said, a little disappointed with the lack of such high protection in my packhouse. "Yeah, that's why Zoey was able to steal so many things," She smirked. "Hey, that's a personal attack," I said and slapped her butt which made her jump
~Liam's POV~ I knew coming back to the place that gave Hazel the worst memories of life wouldn't be easy. A Tsunami of emotions hit Hazel so bad last time we came here that I promised not to let her step into this house again, but here we are, once again, in front of the house that holds only the traumas of my mate. I tightened my grip around my mate's shoulder who was gazing at the house with a heavy heart and sighed, "I remember I promised you that you wouldn't be here again and I would get the whole house painted and repaired but I was so busy with other things that I couldn't look after it. I'm sorry." Just like the last time, her heart was racing and anxiousness was evident to feel within her without even trying. She was trying her best to control her emotions but since we were bonded, it was easy for me to see and feel every breath filled with pain that she was taking in. "Don't be. At least you asked people to cover up the walls. I'm grateful for that," She smiled at m
~Hazel's POV~ "Hazel, sweetheart, wake up! Wake up, baby!" I jolted up from the bed and caught my breath... What the heck was that? My hand instantly went to my belly, and I took a sigh of relief; my baby was with me... That... That was a dream... No... Nightmare. "Sweetheart, are you okay? Another nightmare?" Hearing Liam's voice made me snap out of the pain and grief that I was still feeling, and I cupped his cheeks while scanning his body over and over again. "I'm glad you are okay..." I cried and hugged him tightly. I have been having nightmares for days, but this was the worst one out of all. "Sssh, it was just a nightmare..." He caressed my hair and kissed my head. "I-I saw you and our baby... Dying... In front of my eyes," I whispered and hugged him tightly. I don't want even a bit of it to come true. Fuck this dream, I can't even see these two getting a scratch. Earlier, it was only a man, a woman, and a baby that I used to see in my nightmares, b
~Hazel's POV~ ***My heart was my guide and my eyes in this dark room. I didn't know where I was going or where I was in the first place... All I knew was that my heart was guiding me somewhere safe. I called for Liam every single second and steps that I took in the moon goddess knew which direction with racing heartbeats. I hate being alone... I have been alone all my life and I hated every single second of it. I don't want to be alone again... I have a mate and friends now; I want to be with them as long as I can, not in the darkness that I used to live in for most of my life. "Liam!" I called Liam, Scarlett, and others, but there was no one to hear my voice. Sweat formed on my head while tears started to pool in my eyes... It feels like I am living my worst nightmare. No one is around me... And this time, not only my loved ones but NO ONE. Not even a single person. With chaos in my heart and mind, I kept walking forward and soon smiled in joy as I finally found light
~Liam's POV~ "Is it done?" I asked Lexi, who had just gotten out of the dungeon with Nick. She nodded her head, "Don't take her out of her cell otherwise, the magic will lose its charm. Stay within the boundaries that I have created in front of her cell." "Thank you," I nodded my head and walked into the dungeon. Ethan and Charlotte were the first ones to get into my sight as I entered the dungeon. While seeing Ethan standing with a face full of arrogance in front of me, made me want to growl, my aunt's puffy face with dry eyes told me to stay put. She has been trying her best to change her arrogant son's mind but she doesn't know his mind stopped functioning in the right direction ages ago. Not wanting to initiate any conversation, I cleared the way for them to leave and moved down into the dungeon. It's hard for both of them to see their son like this but it will only keep becoming difficult if they don't accept today's truth. I walked straight in front of Zoey's c
~Liam's POV~ Nick walked into my office with sleepy eyes and a yawn coming out of his mouth which made Axel and I scoff at him. "We are hanging over a cliff but you seem to be dancing over the top," Axel scoffed. "Yeah, I was... Last night," He chuckled. "Great, now, we should work if we want to stay on top every night," I said while rolling my eyes. "Aye, aye, captain," He saluted and sat on the couch. He opened his laptop while I shared the records of my pack members with him. Forwarding my laptop to Axel, I sighed, "This is the data of the past twenty years, split up in two. List out all the names of people who have been around all the while and died the same year as Hazel's parents and mine, obviously the ones old enough to betray their alpha and Luna. And make a special note of people who were around when Lexi's mother and Adams joined the pack." While I read the letters and try to find something related to Hazle's wolf, I want them to dig into our pack's histor
~Liam's POV~ "So you are still not able to change her mind?" Axel asked as he threw a punch at me. I growled and blocked his punch, "It feels like I'm talking to a wall at times..." "It won't be easy," He groaned while pushing me back and threw a punch again at me but I ducked his attack and kicked his leg. I locked his neck between my arms and growled, "I don't want to wait." I freaking don't want to wait anymore... It's been three days since I am trying to change Hazel's mind about her wolf but she just doesn't want to listen. I am certain that whoever betrayed Dad and partnered with rouges is still breathing fresh air into my pack every single day... I want to rip that person's heart out from his body... That person snatched our parents... I want to burn him every single day till his soul begs me to put an end to his misery... Axel tapped on my elbow and I quickly let go of him, "I didn't realize I was holding on tight." "You do realize that you have to talk it out t
~Hazel's POV~ In the past few moments, I got to know so many things about my parents and our past, and every time I felt agitated on the verge, Liam was calming me down but this time... He was the one losing his cool. His palms were turned into fists and his fists were so tight that I could see his knuckles turning yellow while the nerves on his arms seemed as if they would pop out any moment. He was doing his best in maintaining a straight face with no emotions on his face but I could feel how raged he was from the inside. He wanted to rip people's hearts out... He wanted to go on a killing spree... "Nobody told me that rogues had anything to do with their accident," Liam said, trying his best not to growl while I kept caressing his neck to keep him calm. Mr Haywood looked down at his lap and sighed heavily, "I know you might think we did wrong to you, but trust me, it was for the best." He gazed at Liam and smiled, "Charlotte and Nathaniel were each other's support i
~Hazel's POV~My head was already spinning with so many things unfolding in front of my eyes that I couldn't seem to handle them anymore. But... I know I have to go on if I want to know the whole truth. "But the pack would have helped them? Why do they have to go on their own?" Liam asked Mr Haywood. "Ivy received a threat note in the same handwriting as the letter that Peter received, stating that they would be coming for both the Silver wolf and were-witch. We four believed that it was our fight, not the whole pack. Doesn't matter what the year was, we all were welcomed in this pack by your ancestors. We respected that and wanted to keep their people safe, it wasn't their fight. They weren't supposed to lose their kids or parents because of our kids so we chose to fight on our own. Also... Alpha Nathaniel doubted that someone from the inside was giving information to outsiders as Julia shifted only once into her wolf but in the depths of the forest. No one could get that deep
