I sigh as my hands fall to my side. My knees weaken at the countless and repetitive rejection my ears heard from the people I've sought employment from. I swerve from the sidewalk to the alley that seemed to offer comfort and silence for lost souls like me. The afternoon sun was blazing in its warm delight, washing my face with an orange hue. I sniff the air and note the thousand scents that ambled around me.

There's the bakery across the street with its holy bread enticing every sense I had. There's the scent of unique flowers. Ones I've never seen before back in our wolf territory. There's that alluring smell of sophisticated women's necks as they walk confidently on the street, their expensive-looking bags glittering over their waists. The scent of men's cologne lingered around as I glance at several businessmen.
