ELEANOR

I carry the last of my luggage to the car and place it gently on its trunk. I freeze as my hands detach from the bags. A sigh parts my lips, making me think twice about what I'm doing. My chest clenches. Part of me was shaking my arm, telling me to dash and go. But then, another part of me hesitates, causing me to stand still as a statue. I don't want to turn around. Because if I did, I would lose the strength in my knees to leave.

A voice chimes from behind, "Is there something wrong?"

I shake my head, still frozen in place. There's nothing wrong, is there? I'm finally getting what I want. To leave my pack, to start anew even if it meant hiding in a sea of humans and keeping my wolf a secret. Ares nods inside me. She understands. She knows that this is all for the sake of our safety. And the safety of others. So tell me, why are my feet planted on the ground as if they're unwilling to move? As if they're expecting something? Waiting for someone?

I grit. He's not coming. I reje
