“Did you find anything?” I ask the tracker through mind link. He sniffs the ground a couple times more before shaking his head.

“No movement around here, beta. But if there were, it must have been a couple of days earlier,” Rams says, coming over towards me.

I drop my eyes to the ground, drawing in a deep breath as I closed my eyes.

“It’s getting dark. Should we head back now?” One of the warriors asked.

They all gathered around me, waiting for my next command.

Is it really over? No, I could sense him from a distance here. I could feel it.

He has to be here. Somewhere.

I lift my head, glaring at the tree just nearby. I can’t let my alpha take another damn day out here. They could be trapped, for all I know. Something must have happened, and it’s stopping them from making their way back.

“We need to go now, beta. If the rogues come, we’ll be outnumbered.” Another warrior stepped forward, making me groan knowing he’s right. We won’t stand a chance with just the five of us. I rec
