NATALIE

“ It’s your Mom. ” Anne informs me from over the kitchen.

I look over my shoulder and find her holding the phone at some distance from her ear while she informs me about my mother’s call.

“ She wants me to come home? ” I question from the living room.

“ Yes. ” Anne nods her head.

Her eyes tell another story. She doesn’t want me to go back to that house.

“ Okay. Tell her I am coming. ” I turn back around and face Giana who is sitting on the sofa opposite mine.

“ We will drop her off in half an hour Mrs. Whitman. ” Anne tells Mom monotonically.

“ Okay. Sure. ” She hangs up on the call and comes to sit beside me.

I pull my legs up and place my chin over my knee. A sigh leaves my lips.

“ Don’t worry. I will ask someone to look into this man. Text me the number he used to call you when you get hold of your phone. ” Giana says.
