Chapter 26

Otsana stood trembling before me, her shoulders hunched as she tried to avoid making direct eye contact. I could see the fear in her eyes, the way she shifted nervously from foot to foot. The air around us was thick with tension.

"Why did you break it, Otsana?" I asked, my voice low but carrying the weight of authority.

Her eyes widened, and she swallowed hard before responding, her voice barely above a whisper. "I-I didn’t mean to, Alpha. I was working, supervising everyone like you asked, when suddenly I felt someone push me. I fell into the vase, and it broke." Her voice wavered with each word, as if she were afraid that every sound might condemn her further.

One of the other girls, standing nearby, scoffed and crossed her arms. "She's lying, Alpha. I was right there, and no one pushed her. She did it on her own. I saw it with my own eyes."
